Everything looks so good! We chose the same shingles for the house that we had put on the carriage house/garage, and although it's hard to see up top, they do look amazing. And the drainage around the house is SO MUCH BETTER. At the time the crew was out, we were having other repairs inside the house, and everyone did the trades shuffle with grace and humor. You haven't seen a crew work like these guys did until you realize they roofed a 7,200 sq ft historic house in just 3 days--including the flat roof rebuilds. So much attention and care was paid to the fabric of the home, and each flat roof got its own plan and treatment. They did our carriage house in early spring 2026, and the same attention to detail means we now own two very spiffy historic structures. Call Buckeye, you can't go wrong.

He then went on to ask a myriad of questions unrelated to our bathroom project, in addition to again asking if my husband could join us. I told him he was busy and could not join us and that I was the point person for this project. He asked a third time if my husband could join us, citing that I might not be able to remember all the information I was given. I told him if he was not going to provide a consultation/estimate for me, the project owner, unless a man was with me then we can cancel. I led him out of the house 30 seconds later.

A bone-chilling thought occurred: We might have a leaky roof! We contacted Bone Dry Roofing, and I received a prompt call back. We were able to schedule to have someone come out to do a free estimate within a couple of days. John arrived on time and was very respectful of our home and our napping kids. He went in to the attic to take a look at spots where I reported possible leaks. I also asked him to take a look at our chimney since Bone Dry Roofing has masons on staff as well. After taking his time to thoroughly check out our attic, including taking pictures of all locations of interest, John went on to our roof to further inspect everything. The end result? He told me that the moisture I noticed is actually very fluky, because we set our inside humidity level a little too high and our attic isn't very well-ventilated. As a result, significant ice build-up during the recent string of week-long below-freezing temperature suddenly melted during a couple of warm days, that, normally our insulation would be enough to absorb the moisture but in this case the ice build-up was too much. He reported that our roof is actually in good shape, even if our attic isn't well-ventilated. At the end, he gave me basically four options. Option 1 is to simply not do anything and turn our inside humidity way down during exceptionally cold days (15%). Option 2 is to spend a few hundred dollars to add a couple of more vents to allow moisture to escape. Option 3 would be the biggest job, spending a couple of thousand to add a state-of-the-art full attic ventilation system. We very much appreciated the comprehensive list of options, and John did not try to make a hard sell on any of the options that actually would cost us money. It's quite apparent that Bone Dry is a very honest company and not out to squeeze a buck out of every home visit. When we do decide to do something about our attic, we will definitely go with Bone Dry's options without contacting another contractor.
