I needed a designer to help me bring my vision for my startup, Musicians Playground, to life. Sashya and team started with a meeting to understand my brand at length and the goals I had for the project. They produced a floor plan that would maximize efficiency of our space and meet the requirements of our brand. From flooring, to paint, to electrical - they handled all aspects of the project in great detail and with the utmost organization. The thing I am most appreciative of (besides our absolutely stunning space) - is that Sashya and team supported me in many ways they were not contractually obliged to. For example, pushing for savings in places I wouldn't have tried, managing contractors (one needs a part time job just for that), being resourceful with the money we had, and emotionally supportive of the process we were undergoing --- it all made for a journey I will be forever grateful for! If you are looking for a "small team that does big things" kind of experience - this is your place and these are your people! Thanks so much Sashya and team for everything! We can't wait to open a second location with you!

I hired Andra B. D. largely due to the reviews I read on Houzz…read more Background and what worked - The project was for a master bedroom to be redesigned in terms of furniture and soft furnishings only. It was completed largely on time with most of the delays only due to furniture delivery from overseas. About roughly 15% (of value) of the furniture recommended by the firm actually met the aesthetic and practical requirements of the room. What did not work - I felt the design work lacked creativity and fell short in practical as well as aesthetic considerations. It also was an unpleasant surprise that most of the initial budget for design, development and implementation was used up in the design stage itself given the quantity and quality of output. In their initial presentation I was shown two largely similar design themes of one monochromatic look. Since this was my first time using an interior design firm, I trusted them that the subtleties would lie in say - luxurious texture or use of unique materials to justify the hiring of an experienced designer. Maybe there would be an aha! down the line. Practical considerations were communicated to them such as its a bedroom therefore the curtain treatments should block the light, the bed should be solidly made etc. Aesthetic considerations were also communicated such as nicer finishes were needed, furniture should have something special in terms of design etc. Otherwise why hire somebody ?! Their actual design picks were pedestrian and fell short of expectations. Consequently I ended up doing the bulk of the research as well as visiting local showrooms to find the right furniture (roughly 70% of value). Some other smaller pieces of furniture that I did leave to them to decide and purchase I am currently looking to donate (15% of value). Returning does not seem to be an easy option through them. The curtains installed made the room look like a hospital room. They let in all the early morning light that we get in the Northeast making sleep difficult. An odd episode with window darkening drapes proved that they did not work with the customized drapes already installed. Now I have replaced them all at additional expense. Unfortunately truthful feedback and questions on invoice amounts led to a breakdown in communication early on. I am very disappointed with their work and am now correcting their design mistakes as I don't want to have to live in one.

I didn't even know if they could be repaired or would have to be replaced. I was warmly greeted by Lynn, who assured me the window treatments could definitely be repaired and would not need replacement for a long time. She scheduled a repair appointment for next week. It was such a relief to find excellent customer service!

I cannot recommend HomeTrends based on my recent experience…read more I scheduled an in-home appointment to have 12 windows measured. No one showed up, and I was left waiting at home with no apparent notice that the appointment would not be kept. I contacted HomeTrends afterward and expressed my frustration about the missed appointment and the time I had wasted. I was initially told they would arrange for someone else to come out. Instead, the owner subsequently told me that it would be better for me to take my business to another blinds company and that they no longer wanted to work with me. That response surprised me. A missed appointment can happen. What mattered more to me was how the company handled it afterward. Rather than apologizing, taking responsibility, and trying to make things right, their solution was essentially to tell the customer to go elsewhere. There are plenty of companies selling and installing window treatments. Based on my experience, I would choose one that is more reliable, respects its customers' time, and makes customers feel that their business is valued. BTW, they did tell me if I wrote a negative review that "I was a bad person". Well, this review is only intended to give you, the consumer, an insight to my experience. I am not sure that constitutes me as being a "bad" person, but again maybe insight to how HomeTrends perceives upset customers verse working out an amendable solution.
