They also sell veg and tinned produce. I'm not sure how much real butchering they do nowadays. I've asked for some lesser known cuts and have been told they don't do them. The back of the shop where most of the work is done is blocked off and I never trust what I can't see. (That is no reflection on hygiene, just my preference) They do source lots locally so should be commended for that All in all it does what you'd expect of this type of shop.

They have a massive selection of fresh meats, chicken, Cheeses, Eggs, Bacon etc They also have a great hot meat and pie selection for lunch time. A home made steak pie costs £1.30 and a Hot, Thick cut Roast beef barmcake costs just £2.30! Both these are a must try and apparently you haven't lived until you have had a Greeleys Steak pie. Live a little! The majority of the produce sold comes from the Greeleys home farm, where they breed and rear a lot of their own animals. It does get busy during lunch time, but there are always plenty of staff serving so the queues don't last long. They also cater for outside events where they can provide a full spit roast pig etc! This place deserves a visit and a shout out for consistently being a great local shop, well done guys!

The store has two entrances, the front entrance has a staircase (with a lift) and escalator, or if you let the staff know there's a back entrance. Considering, this is only a "Local" store, they did have a good selection of fresh meats, I picked up some excellent quality turkey, and they also have a bakery section. The checkouts were easy to use and simple. They are missing a trick by not having a coffee machine here though, especially as Tesco Express' town centre store (and Superstore) does, so it would be useful, but I dislike Costa Coffee anyway which most coffee machines seem to use. 4* - The extra star is mainly for the friendliness and the helpfulness of the staff, while the selection is OK.

On the specials during my visit were such items as hand foraged local samphire, Cumbrian lamb and Pink's award winning sausages. So why was the Greek salad about 50% raw onion? Why did it feature those mealy crunchy supermarket basics tomatoes, cold from the fridge? Even the black olives mentioned on the menu were green. And they clearly did have black olives in the kitchen, because my four slices of Serrano ham (almost £6) came topped with a single olive. They boasted it was "20 month aged" - most of it had clearly been in their fridge, as it featured a faint tang of refrigerator and managed to be unpleasantly rubbery. Not sure how Serrano ham can even go rubbery but there you go. If you've boasting of excellent ingredients then it's unacceptable for the basics to fail so badly. I wouldn't bother returning.

Don't be fooled some of their products are great value some are not. keep a eye on promotions. Also don't visit if your in a rush as the queues can be massive.
