Mom and I have been so very lucky over the decades in that we had amazing dentists. So, you know…read morehow it is when you have that, all other dentists fall short. Moving here 3-1/2 years ago, mom had a mediocre dentist and revolving hygienists. I knew that to be a red flag. Finally, the dentist left and the practice had to close its doors while looking for a new one. Took that opportunity and found Lamb Family Dental. Mom was so upset and against trying Dr. Lamb, she tried to refuse as we were driving to the appointment. Not a happy camper at all. I took advantage of the $50 amazon (or CostCo, your choice) gift card for being a new patient and waited for mom in the lobby. It looks like a brand new space and the lobby was comfortable. When mom came out, she was all smiles and so happy. Dr. Lamb came out and told me how great mom's teeth were (she's 90). Later, mom told me Dr. Lamb was the best and I should starting going there, too.

Having completed my profile on-line ahead of time and arriving on time, I didn't have long at all to wait until being seated for my x-rays. Of course, the x-ray holder that goes inside your mouth is always a bit uncomfortable; however, the technician was careful and nicely asked if it hurt as the positions were sequenced. No problems there. The hygienist did a great job -- no pain at all. There was a choice of 3 flavored sealants -- I got blue raspberry (cotton candy and mint were the other options). For the fluoride treatment, there were 2 flavors and I chose caramel (mint was the other). She assured me that these flavors were not a risk for cavities. Overall, a great experience. My wife, who has some aversion to dental procedures, liked her experience last year and that is why I switched to Dr. Lamb. They also give a discount for a second family member.

They said they want to keep a clean and healthy practice since they have two hygienist out due to illness. To cancel two times in the matter of one month is very unprofessional. I was taken back to the chair where I received X-rays and they were discussed with me. The Dentist was very nice. Then I was transferred to the 20- something year old hygienist. I was taught how to brush my teeth, what gum to chew, why I should use a Water Pic, what electronic toothbrush I should use, what floss to use and how proper oral hygiene would help my blood pressure. I felt like I was at a presentation for a timeshare. But still no teeth cleaning. Odd for the fact I was there for over an hour and a half. Things started to get real when the hygienist informed me "when I come back for a deep cleaning", I will feel much better about my teeth. I clarified that no cleaning would occur during my visit and I was a bit shocked. I ended up leaving after an hour and fifty minutes with nothing being done. No cleaning. That was the entire reason for the appointment. This was unbelievable. I called the dentist on my way home to clarify what had occurred. The dentist essentially said it's better to not have my teeth cleaned until it's a deep cleaning. This is the exact opposite of what has occurred my entire life. Normally it's a cleaning then you're told to get a deep cleaning. At least it a start. My frustration is the Dentist/hygienist assumed that I have all the time in my life to come back at their will. I work 60 to 80 hours a week and I'm not off during their business hours. I was able to squeeze in on a Monday that was a day off for me. I made this known at the time of my appointment and during the visit itself. Apparently they don't listen. They just figure that everyone will just sit happily in the chair and go with whatever they say. They wasted my entire afternoon and nothing was accomplished.

He does seem a little greedy, and his office tried to overcharge me when I requested dental records for ISU. I had to contact Idaho Board of Dentistry, they confirmed I was being overchargef, and they spoke to his office on my behalf, forcing them down to the legal rate for the records. After that, I received a letter from his office stating the doctor- patient relationship had broken down, and "firing" me as a patient. (Not that I would have gone back there anyway.
