Don't let the bad reviews fool you. Dr. Smith is a great dentist. He's efficient, fair, and very honest. Not to mention his facility is very high tech. When I entered the office and was greeted with a smile from the receptionist. This was important to me because I had a long time trusted dentist in Arizona and having moved to Boise I haven't been to the dentist in over a year due to poor experiences at other offices in town. A reason to avoid - zero respect for my time as a patient and extreme lack of professionalism. The last straw was my latest visit which needed to be rescheduled three times by them. When I dared object and say that I did not appreciate my time being wasted, they then proceed to tell me to go see another dentist. Two weeks ago I was coming all the way across town and stuck in traffic so I called them to tell them and ask if I should keep coming or turn around, that I was going to be 5-10 minutes late. They say to keep coming its fine. I show up 11 minutes late and they turn me away saying that since I was more than 10 minutes late, I had to reschedule. Wasted half my day because of this. That very appointment that I rescheduled right there in the office was rescheduled by THEM an hour later because they made a mistake. It was rescheduled to this morning. This morning I get a text message saying they are going to have to reschedule again. So this same appointment was rescheduled three times, all because of their office. I told them I did not appreciate my time being wasted and their response "we encourage you to seek the care of another dentist as soon as possible" What. A. Joke. read more

My husband spent over $10,000 with this dentist. During that time they never cleaned his teeth, instead they worked on the wrong teeth in the wrong order. Their hygienist was so mean to my husband. I have never been to a dentist office quite like this one, it was terrible. After we paid every invoice they invoiced us again for $42 after all work was complete and paid for. This invalid invoice never came to us and they sent it to collections. BEWARE THEY ARE EXPENSIVE AND DISHONEST. read more

Craig Smith is not a practitioner of dentistry, he's a salesman. Literally before I opened my mouth even to introduce myself, he diagnosed me then started prattling off a litany of services that I "needed." I have requested that his office not contact me in any way and that i feel harassed by them, then today I get a letter from them stating, "you have $xxxx in unclaimed dental insurance, come in today!" This person should not call themselves a doctor as he is very clearly just a salesperson and not interested in doing the best for his patients if it doesn't directly result in $$$. read more

Defiantly a Woohoo for A Reason to Smile. I came to Dr. Smith with twisting teeth. I had traditional braces as a teenager that did major help for me at the time. Now as an adult, living in a different community, with no retainer (my fault), I needed some help. My teeth were starting to twist back to the way they were before my first braces. I wanted to try invisiline braces because of the low visibility of the apparatus and ease of cleaning. Invisiline fit like socks on a rooster the first time I put them on my teeth, but I got used to them, and now look at the huge difference they have made. Taadaa! They work! My teeth are so much better and I feel better when talking to clients, friends, and when having my picture taken. Dr. Smith and his staff have been like family to me. Dr. Smith has always answered my questions directly and I feel he is very knowledgeable. Meghan, my hygienist, is friendly, fast, efficient, and is very gentle. Same with Ms. Nebraska. The administrative staff have always been able to tell me where I stand on my bills and always make sure I have a reminder for my appointments. And then there is Tammy. I was given an estimate of a $700 out-of-pocket expense after a $1300 insurance claim. Dr Smith did the work and then billed me for an additional $751. After receiving the bill, I spoke to the office manager on the phone multiple times, and personally went into the office on two separate occasions to find a mutually agreeable solution. Dr. Smith refused to speak to me directly. The office was very combative and offensive when I expressed concern over an estimate off by over 100%. The manager initially placed all of the blame on me, and eventually conceded to "errors in both parties." After pursuing all reasonable efforts to pay an amount closer to the estimate, I was forced to pay the full amount in order to save my credit from going to collections. read more

I have to disagree with the other reviews. Dr Smith is a first class act. Keep in mind he is not your cheap duct tape and balling wire dentist. He cost a little more but you get what you pay for. I had my front teeth done by three other dentist before I found this man who would do it right. If you are looking for fast and cheap do not go here. If you want it done right Dr.Smith is the man for the job. read more

I thought the Dr. was awesome. All dental is expensive, but you get what you pay for. I thought the work was the best I have seen on my crown. It sounds more like that last lady has a religous issue and not a very nice person so I wouldn't listen to her word anyway. I thought the ladies were super nice and helped me understand my insurance. One of them goes to my church and I'm a Catholic so I don't know. Thank God the dentist doesn't discriminate like his patients do. Don't go in for cosmetic stuff and then expect it to be cheap. I have used A Reason to Smile as my dental office for over 10 years now. I actually enjoy going to the dentist and have had a great experience with each visit. I have also been treated with Invisalign at this office, and I feel that though the treatment wasn't "quick and cheap", it was well worthwhile and I have loved my results. Dr. Smith and his staff have always been kind and helpful. They are always willing to answer questions and have provided me with payment plans. I've never had fun at a dentist before, but when I came home and told my fiancé the dentist I just went to is known for making surprise appearances in the office on a hover board, he was legitimately bummed he did not come with me to my appointment. The friendly atmosphere was matched with exceptional performance. My hygienist, Brooke, did an exceptional job of walking me through everything she was going to do before she did it, (I have never had someone educate me on the dentistry process before and I found it fascinating). I also thought the office manager, (Austin, I believe) was really cool too. They all made me feel like, well, I had a reason to smile. I'm looking forward to coming back to Boise and making this office my regular dental home. read more
