I had some sale upholstery fabric from Fishman's I wanted to use and they were totally fine with that. She let me know that due to their workload they wouldn't be able to get to it until the summer, which I was ok with. The shop called when they were ready to come get the old chair and promptly picked it up the next day. The job only took a week and I paid the balance over the phone by credit card. The chair was delivered today and it looks great. The fabric worked out well and the quality of the work is excellent. I'm looking forward to sitting in it to read in our living room for many years to come.

They informed us a couple of days later that they did not have the materials that appeared in inventory for the job but could substitute some others. While we did not go forward with the order - since we did not like the alternative materials - we still give them kudos for quickly reversing the credit charge. While they may want to work on their inventory listings to provide the correct options, we have no problem with their solution. We went somewhere else for our job, but would not hesitate to give Paul's another chance. Try them.

I have two pieces of furnitures from Room and Board that haven't been taken good care of. They are…read moreonly a few years old but the paint has become sticky and one piece had some paint chipped off already. I had contacted a few other carpenters/furniture fix shops before I found Joseph. I was told by others that it will take some effort to strip off the old paint and refinishing the piece will likely not give us the smooth finish we originally had. And the refinishing quotes are not cheap which made us wonder whether it is worthy the work after all. When we talked to Joseph however, he suggested to do a thorough cleaning and polish plus some touch ups to help restore the pieces, which worked out just fine with just a fraction of the refinishing cost. Joseph also checked back and did additional work to make sure the polishing was achieving the best result as much as possible. We feel very comfortable working with Joseph, he is very responsive and solution oriented, provides candid and professional advices. Joseph is now helping us with other projects fixing our kitchen cabinets. We are looking forward to getting the cabinets back in shape!

Then he came when he said he would, did what he said he would while I worked from home upstairs. Took a little longer than expected, but in the bounds of a reasonable estimate, and no upcharge. We hired them to assemble a sewing cutting table and Reese and his helper were clearly out of their…read moreleague. After talking to the manufacturer we have now realized they installed the two panels that form the side of the drawers upside down. In hindsight, you'd think the fact that the top drawer would only fit in upside down would have been their first clue. They actually left that drawer in the cabinet like that, the other three drawers on the floor because they're unable to be inserted. Instead of realizing their mistake they just tried to get the drawers to fit, damaging all of the drawer runners in the process. So now we have to pay for new drawer runners and for someone knowledgeable to disassemble the entire table, install the new runners, reverse those two panels, and then reassemble the entire table properly. They were also extremely unprofessional, both swearing like truck drivers downstairs while we had guests, rather than telling us they were running into problems with the assembly. Maybe they could handle a simple piece of IKEA furniture, but DO NOT let them touch any expensive pieces!
