(Her name is Kelly; I traveled 4 hours back home for a period of 2 years whenever I needed to get my hair done so I could see her... as an extra compliment to her, I'm constantly stopped to ask where I get my hair done, and I proudly exclaim, "At-L-Ya!:) The girls are all wonderful. Friendly and hospitable, they always offer you coffee, water or wine during your appointment. (There's also an eyebrow specialist in a back room who is fairly well-known in the area) The salon itself is very welcoming. It gives off the feeling of a NYC salon without being over the top. If I didn't already have a fantastic hairdresser I'd definitely be coming to this salon regularly. Here's the best thing about this salon, when I went to pay I found out that they only take cash or checks, (which I had neither), so Jess told me to come back and pay later or the next day. Who does that in good faith? This is an awesome place to go and get your hair done, and you leave feeling like you've just made new friends.

I'm very sensitive to scents and Aveda salons can sometimes be a little overpowering for me. I don't have that issue here. Amy does my hair. I came to her with fried, damaged, over processed blonde and pretty bad roots. I wanted to stop coloring my hair to just go back to my natural color. She managed to get my color to where I wanted it, and put a really good transition between my roots and the parts of my hair that had previously been processed. Since then, we've done a couple of style changes (cut off layers for a blunt cut, then later added blunt bangs). Each time I visit Amy, my hair looks better and better. I can't recommend her or the salon highly enough.

The girl at the front desk was very welcoming. She gave me a key and showed me to the ladies locker room. The locker room is small. Also, the lockers are right in front of the entrance, so it's not ideal if you're shy. People will come and go as you are getting undressed. They were also assigning the lockers in exact numerical order, so while you are trying to get undressed, there will be another patron just standing there waiting to be able to enter their locker which is right next to yours. It would be helpful if they would at least assign them more broadly, so the other patron might be at the opposite end of the row lockers. I will say though, the locker room was pretty clean. There were hot tea and cereal bars available as well as a selection of various toiletries. It would have been nice to have spa water available in there though. After spending time in the sauna and steam shower, something cold to drink would have been great. I returned to the front desk as instructed. I was given the option of which service I wanted to do first. I opted to start in the salt room, followed by sauna, and end with steam shower. The salt room was very relaxing. It's dimly lit and warm. There is soothing music playing. It was a nice way to start the day. The infrared sauna was also very nice. The sauna is located in a private room so when you book it you have it all to yourself. I didn't know there was a color therapy option on it though until the very end of the session but it was still enjoyable nonetheless. A pitcher of spa water was provided so I could hydrate during that part of the session. My one bit of constructive criticism, the floor of the sauna needs to be cleaned. It was very dusty and hairy. Next it was time for the steam shower. The front desk associate who I had been working with told me "All three knobs have to be on for it to work." Simple enough, or so I thought. I enter the steam shower, expecting just steam. There is a digital on/off switch which I hit. I see three knobs. There is no indicator of which is on or off though. So I turn them all and proceed to be blasted with cold water from every angle. I nearly hit the ceiling! I turned the knobs off as quickly as possible. The chamber began to fill with steam. Once that was figured out, it turned out to be a great experience. For $60, this was a great way to spend 3 hours. I left feeling invigorated. I am sure to return to The Spa at Traditions.
