I'll admit, I was already looking to be disappointed walking in to Rico's because I hadn't had a good haircut in the area yet. But after I was done, my mind had been entirely changed. I was given a phenomenal haircut at an amazing price and couldn't have asked for more. The service was amazing and I was consulted on every move with the cut as it went, ensuring my absolute satisfaction. The location is small, but definitely not something to be overlooked. Michael Polenzino is one of the Southern Tiers best barbers. He is a pogonologist par excellence. Go ahead, look up the word. Recently, I grew my first beard. It was starting to look like crap and I was considering ditching it. That's until Michael worked his magic. The guy gave me tons of tips for taking care of my beard and I left with an ass-kicking beard. This establishment is the most diverse and welcoming Barbershop not only in Broome County but as far as what I have experienced. The staff/barbers are professional courteous and culturally competent. The environment is welcoming and promotes togetherness not a division or us versus them mentality. I visit the shop weekly and I bring my children with me, a family experience. The owner Rico always greets the kids and is very friendly with them. In fact they ask about going to the shop on Saturdays. First time here and happened to come on a Wednesday where they do $10 haircuts. Great environment and the barber took his time and made sure it was a perfect cut. It really looked like he wasn't done until he was happy with the cut and didn't half ass it. I admit my hair isn't the easiest to cut but he gave me a great fade and didn't leave any lines. He also cleaned up my beard and overall a great experience. I plan on coming here from now on. The barber that gave me the cut was Lawrence, great dude and very skilled. This place had a 5 star review waiting for them, until one day I show up at 5:04pm and get told by one of the employees that they're not taking any more haircuts for the day, and they stop at 5pm. I drove 20 min just to get there and be turned away. Not to mention, the kid who turned me away was the same one who cut my hair 2 months earlier and I gave him a tip more than I paid for the haircut itself. Ungracious is the polite way of saying what I'm thinking... Last time I ever went and gave them any business or the business of any of the several friends I recommended to this place for a NYC caliber haircut for half the price. But this is the difference between NYC barbers and upstate...NYC it's about making money and improving customer satisfaction. Apparently here, it's all about clocking out. I had to extend my trip and needed a hair cut in the worst way and wanted a shave Decided to try Rico's due to my fellow Yelpers reviews. I called and spoke to Rico. No appointment needed. I went over to the shop. Rico himself took care of me. He gave me a GREAT hair cut and shave! Also enjoyed talking with him. The prices were extremely reasonable. Only $20 for both. First time there, did not feel the barber knew what he was doing. He took a phone call in the middle of my haircut to conduct other business. Asked for a shave and he pulled out a cheap rotary electric razor. Cuts all over my face, ears and neck. Picked this place because the reviews are great, maybe the other barbers there are better, but i won't take that chance. read more

To start this I sat down in the barbers chair at 11 am and he finished cutting my hair at 12:30 pm. Yes an hour and a half long haircut not including the wait. During the hour and a half haircut I asked for a 1 fade on the side and to take a half an inch off the top. Not to mention he missed several spots of my hair on the sides. read more
