I ordered new wood blinds and some verticals throughout my house. They were installed and look great. The quality is really nice. The installer was very professional. Emilio, the supervisor is very pleasant to work with. He had to come to my house because there were a couple of minor things wrong. A Shade Above worked to get these resolved. There were some delays due to covid but that is understandable. I originally worked with Andrew to pick out the products and he was very helpful and informative. This store has a great selection of window shades, verticals and all sorts of window coverings. They have every style and color you can imagine. we had 19 units and all but one has been completed. we had shades put on most units and plantation shutters on 3 units. there is only one that did not fit and the business has ordered the correct fit. we are extremely happy with both the materials and the workmanship of the 18 units completed, and have total confidence that the one still to be installed will be completed to with identical excellence. very responsive and responsible owners, and excellent installation. highly recommend this company. read more

I thought that whatever Lowes and Home Depot sold was what people used to cover windows. You know - shades, blinds, curtains, shutters...the usual. Considering the variety of patterns, colors and design styles it served everyone. That's what I thought. I was SO WRONG! There's a world of window treatment beyond the boring stuff the other stores offer. Going to THIS sunstreamed corner store was like going to an exhibit. Bruce walked us around the store - stopping at each display, showing us multi-layered shades that align pattern and sheer stripes, vertical blinds enveloped in shear, solar-protected fabric and more. The store offered products from Spain, USA, and wherever great products are made. We had fun walking around and listening to great music. It was an eyeopening experience. We had so many choices beyond the boring stuff - it was great! Our backyard faces a waterway and we wanted to see the view but still have privacy. We were considering Hunter Douglas Luminette verticals and wound up using it in 2 rooms. We also have a bay window with a view of the side of a neighbor's house so we certainly didn't need Luminette there. Bruce helped us figure out what would work in the same room - he brought over his right hand guy who explained installation options and best looks in simple terms. It helped us make an informed decision that worked great! The measurement appointment was quick, done on time and so accurate that the installation was a breeze. From the guys in the showroom to the guys in the back, to the guys doing the installation to the guys we'd call if we had any issues we are beyond thrilled that we chose this business. Hunter Douglas offers service through the dealer - that's why you'll want to go to a store that has it's stuff together. When you buy Hunter Douglas Luminette, you're tethered to the store you made the purchase. So make sure you love the presentation and have a sense of trust about the people. We first visited another local store that had a remote with a dead battery discovered during the sales presentation, discontinued inventory on display and a salesperson who swore that if the plastic was off the cloth card she held against my window it'd look more sheer - I called the manufacturer & they told me that is just untrue. They suggested that maybe the rep didn't want to remove the fabric from the card because her book would look out of perfect order. Ultimately, there would've been nothing pretty in dealing with them about future service issues. We have other windows and sliders and can't wait to return to Bruce and crew. Because we now enjoy sunsets from our living and dining rooms. We enjoy partial and fully open doorways, without having to pull fabric back. We recently moved to a new home that had no window blinds. We checked around, and to a person, everyone in our Hallsley neighborhood mentioned that we needed to get our blinds from "A Shade Above." And, we are so glad we did! The whole process was painless....from the accurate measurements, to the variety of blinds available, to the installation, to the payment process. In addition to the wonderful customer service from Tracy and the professional installation, the product was of very high quality and very reasonable. After getting blinds added to over 28 windows, we went back to get rather unique roller blinds between our sliding glass doors and the screened in porch. They certainly have a great floor of Hunter Douglas Samples to look at and touch. The store personnel seems to provide great service if they judge that you will spend a certain budget. This was the first store we visited to find window treatments for our new home about a month ago. It seems the owner and salesperson thought we were younger tham our age, broke and, as a result, we were not treated the same as other customers in the store. Upon hearing that we purchased a new home, the salesperson said that "you must be broke now". The owner was very knowledgable but kerpt focusing mainly on price point and seemed irritated that we did not know exactly what we wanted for each of the 12 windows in our new home. He advised we were in 5000 to 7000 range for the whole house. We ended up paying about twice this amount with The Shade Store with far better service and product selection. We went in eager to learn about window treatment options but my husband and I felt very uncomfortable and not welcome based on their judgment of us. We are in our 30s and all other customers were quite a bit older but we expected same treatment regardless of age. read more

I was very pleased with the selection and service, except when their mistake come out of my pocket!. They had an odd way of securing their business that is unfortunately ridiculously stupid and ended up costing me an additional $100.00! Before they would come out to measure for our blinds, they made us pick a style from various samples in order to give us a price quote and had us pay 50% down to get measured. We said we were not sure of the color and asked if we could take the samples home and bring them right back. The owner told us the guy who measured would bring the samples with him. We chose the style of vertical we wanted, he put down beige and told us all the prices in that sample book were the same. The guy came out to measure, we picked the same model of blind but asked for the grey instead of the beige.He said no problem, they are the same price and wrote the grey color and code number on our receipt and his. Unfortunately, he did not correct it when he got back to the store and they delivered the beige, which clashed with our paint, flooring and furnishing which are various tints of grey. I showed the installer my receipt signed by the measurements guy and he told me not to worry, they were the same price and they would be replaced for free. An hour later the owner's son Andrew called and told me that if I wanted the grey, it would cost me $100 more, because that color was more expensive. I realized that he was completely FOS, but I needed the grey, so I accepted his BS and agreed to pay for his mistake. All the installation people were fabulous, so I do recommend their service, but pick up the phone and make sure after your measurements are done, that they make needed corrections into their system before they place your order. read more

We have bought blinds from A Shade Above twice (2 windows the first time, 1 window the second). Bruce has always been a pleasure to deal with. He was very patient with us throughout our many visits because we weren't sure which type to go with. He takes time to explain the different details of the many different brands/types of blinds they have in their showroom. Both times we have opted for the self installation option. You have to bring them the measurements of the window, and they have them ready for pickup in a couple of weeks. This offers big savings that are really worth it (you just have to carefully measure to make sure your new blinds will fit) Finally, the prices are really straight forward and no other Hunter Douglas dealer in the area could get even close to it. I recently attempted to purchase shutters from this outfit. Installer failed to bring samples, said he wasnt told to do so. Owner Bruce wanted me to drive to store to look at samples. I explained that we were in a rush and he would need the installer to return with samples. He asked for my credit information to issue credit rather than be a professional and stand by his word.
