Ever since visiting the gem and mineral room in the American Museum of Natural History as a kid I have been obsessed with them. I love their colors, crystals, and mystical properties. I was eager to visit the Crystal Cave Rock & Gem Shop to see what they had. There aren't too many places like this in my area and I think they have one of the best collections in Broward County. According to their website they are a family owned business that has been in business since 1972. They specialize "in mineral specimen, cut gemstones, cutting rough (for cabochon, and faceting), metaphysical tools, lapidary equipment, books, jewelry, and gifts." They also have fossils and petrified wood. Prices range from as little as $1 to many thousands of dollars. There was so much to look at, huge pieces of amethyst, colorful geodes, and loose mixed gems. They had my favorite peacock copper ore. I also loved their jewelry, they had some nice gem necklaces for only $10. Perfect for the next time I need a gift. There was a lot of staff around eager to help if you had a question. They are open Tuesday through Friday from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Saturday from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm and we are closed Sunday and Monday. Come check them out. read more

This place truly is a hidden gem. The owner & staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Affordable. Lots of inventory. Love their handmade necklaces & bracelets. There's just soooo much here. The store itself is a bit small but you can spend hours here. Definitely recommend for beginners. Each purchase comes with a info card to give you 411 on each stone/gem/Crystal. Wow oh wow. This is every crystal lovers dream!! This store is stocked with every crystal imaginable. It is hidden in a plaza that I almost couldn't find it...if I hadn't heard about it on Yelp. But before that I never knew this hidden gem existed. I'm so glad I was able to stop in and pick up some pieces for my collection. They have pieces of every size and price point. They even have jewelry which I was so happy to pick up a ring and some bracelets along with some tumbles and raw pieces. The staff...I believe they're the owners though, are informative and very kind. I wish I could have gotten more pictures, but I was too distracted trying to get my hands on what I wanted. I appreciated how each piece was carefully place individually in a bag with a information card on the gem or crystal! The care and detail is unmatched. Cannot recommend this store enough. My first time at this establishment. The store is very quaint and small. Be careful walking in the store the gems are all over. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. I am learning the stones and gems and they had so much can be a little overwhelming . Be careful shopping you tend to pick up tones of gems and stones then your bill will accumulated quickly. For my 25th wedding anniversary, my wife wanted one thing. For me to replace the lost stone from my grandmother's wedding ring. I had the diamond put on a necklace years ago so there was a sapphire in it that was lost at a karaoke bar in Gulfstream Park/Hallandale several years ago. I took it into John and he looked at it and gave me a fair estimate and told me that there was a prong missing from the ring. Keep in mind this ring was given to my grandmother in the 1939 to 1942 era. I authorized them to repair the prong and put in a new sapphire that they allowed me to choose. When I picked up the ring it was perfect, and came in a little less than I expected financially. This is a fantastic shop run by good people who care about stones and their customers. HOLY MOLY! I am a visitor to Florida and let me tell you, there's is nothing in Minnesota that can compare to this place! They had so many raw gemstones, Bracelets and many cool items. It's hard not to spend your money there! 15/10, I this place had everything I was looking for, a lot of simple gems and little take home gifts were all 10-15 dollars, and other items were 20+, it was worth it! I went home after buying around 200$ worth of items. Even if you are not planning on buying anything, there is so much to see to convince you to at least buy something. This is a really fun little rock and mineral shop, hidden in a small strip mall in Davie. There open hours are kind of limited, so be sure you check before going. We were looking for some interesting healing minerals for a friend who is into holistic healing. They had everything that you could want. It was very helpful that each stone was labeled with the healing properties for which it is known. They also have some beautiful big specimens, like amethyst geodes which would make lovely home decor. There was also a selection of polished gems (although we found the prices to be on the high side) and some nice finished jewelry selections. So, if you're looking for some interesting rocks, minerals or gems, this is a pretty cool place to check out. read more

I was just here recently with my 13 year old son who loves to collect rocks and gems. I was very impressed by the selection and how nice Luke was! He spent a good hour or so with my son explaining the different types of gems they carried and allowing him to explore the store. I collect crystals and when I came across this shop on yelp, I decided to go and check it out. I have been to a few similar shops in south florida (Flossie's and Crystal Vision to name a few) and this shop is by far the most over priced. I wasn't too crazy about the vibe in there either. Everything is labeled "DO NOT TOUCH" or "LOOK WITH YOUR EYES". However, they do have a huge selection of crystals and minerals as well as other trinkets so if you're looking for it, they will have it. The people that work there aren't the friendliest but they are definitely very knowledgable. read more

This place will definitely wow you, especially if you are a lover of crystals, rocks, gems, jewelry, and the like. Even if you're not really into it, the way they display the crystals and the variety they have is just GORGEOUS. It's more pricey than the one I usually go to down in the Wynwood area of Miami for crystals and rocks. But this place definitely has rare specimens, faceted, rough, all kinds. It would be a shock not to find what you're looking for here. And yes, a place like this is a rare find here in South Florida. I did not give it 5 stars for two reasons: One of which I already stated, it is more expensive than where I usually go (and given the rarity of places like this in South FL, I assume that's why they are able to charge more). Secondly, the older woman who owns the store is sort of unfriendly and bitter, especially to the younger crowd. Does not smile or welcome you when you walk in. She definitely seems knowledgeable about crystals and so forth, but when speaking with her, she will just ask you what you want in there (but in a way that comes across as WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN HERE?), and for what purpose (too pushy IMHO) and she was a bit condescending towards me. I am not a crystal expert by any means but I certainly don't think that should warrant a sour, "better than thou" attitude, especially when you are a business owner trying to make a sale. I would suggest going in when the younger guy is working there, as he seems to be the only other employee and is friendly and equally if not more knowledgeable about crystals and rocks. It's a small place and very quiet, so it feels more welcoming when the staff makes conversation with you about what you're looking for -as he does, unlike the woman- so I don't feel like I'm being chased out due to uncomfortable silence. I'd recommend going here when he's there (probably best to call ahead!) and talk to him. I'm sorry I do not remember his name, but he is the only other worker there so you will know if a guy answers the phone, then you're good to go. If you're in there alone with the older woman.... best of luck. lol. read more
