I am so grateful for finding A Solid Foundation Learning Center, as a military family with no relative or friend nearby this center has givin my children a home away from home and more over a family. My daughter is speech impaired and has an Iep. While she was with EI services her therapist would go to the center and when she aged out and started oak crest elementery Jen the owner attended her IEP meeting amd fought for her to get services she was being denied. Any parents sending their kid to a solid foundation in Zion. Hand foot and mouth disease is going around the school and my child has it. I called this morning and the staff advised me it was going around. Later I received a very mean message from the owner backtracking what was told to me by the staff. It's so sad how little respect this place has for these children. My daughter was kicked out of the school basically for having this disease that was going around the school and because the staff told me what was going on and wasn't supposed to. I do have the messages from the owner if anyone who has kids that go here want to verify this. read more

I almost never write reviews. I was of the belief that people needed to experience things for themselves and decide. I was wrong. Information is power, and people need to know if they are risking their children' safety. My 2 year old grandson attended this facility. He was only there for a month. At first, we thought we were overreacting, but we weren't. He came home with an knot on his forehead. It was explained that an autistic child was throwing things. Because my grandson didn't fall out crying, they thought he was ok. Then, he came home, with a bruise under his eye. Again, no real explanation. Then My daughter witnessed a child run at him on the playground, knock him down and sock him in the eye. There was no one closely supervising them. The clincher was when my daughter saw him, sitting with a teenager[most of the staff} and he was sprayed in the face with water, until he was soaking wet. She couldn't be sure, but believed she might have been holding him. He's 2, but he wouldn't sit and be mistreated. Don't send your children here. There are currently two open DCFS cases against this facility. FOR CHILD ENDANGERMENT!!! Do your research, it pays. Thank God my grandson wasn't injured more than he was. He is now at a place he is cared for. He's happy to leave his mom, and participate with the other children and teachers. And the teachers/assistants are dedicated to get to know him, and further his development. He's safe again. This is the Zion, IL. location. I don't know why it came up California. read more

If I could give a negative rating I would, would highly recommend for you to take your kid anywhere else, and I mean ANYWHERE ELSE. This place sucks and doesn't understand the kids. Like you really don't understand that kids are teething? Maybe don't loose the stuff I send my child with that are for the teething so he won't bite kids. Then kick them out right? Place is a joke. Not to mention how many things they give to other kids that are my child's like his pacifiers and socks or shoes ridiculous, unprofessional. Real quick to throw him out but they not going to reimburse me for all the stuff that they lost or probably gave to other kids. All I have to say if you take your kid there is good luck :/ read more

I am disappointed with how my nephew was treated at this facility. His slot was given away while he was out sick and falsely accused of bringing a virus to the daycare. There seems to be an issue with transparency and accountability with the daycare owner. read more

Both my kids have been going here for 1 year and Jen & her staff have been fantastic- They keep me up to date on things they may notice with both kids and also give solid advise and suggestions. Also great is they are a drop off and pickup location for my daughter school and have been overly accommodating with her after-school activities. Keep up the great work! read more

My son was attending A Solid Foundation and I'm not happy how things ended. My son got the Mouth Hand and Foot disease. This was his first week back. Now Friday October 8, 2021that morning there wasn't anything on his body. When I picked him up there was bumps all on his body. I asked what happened, why didn't she call me. She told me that it was a a break out from his eczema. I took him to his doctor and they told me he have the Mouth and Foot disease. I called Jennifer to let her know what the doctor told me. My son stayed home for two weeks. She never sent an email to the other parents to let them know that someone had the disease. He was at daycare all Friday with it. On October 18, 2021 I tried dropping him off with his doctor's not stating that he was cleared. She told me that she thought he wasn't coming back anymore and gave his spot up. what type of daycare would do that without calling the parent first. I will never recommend anyone to this daycare. She also told me that an infant had to get tested for herps up there. That's not professional at all telling other people busy. I have text messages to back up everything she said. read more

If I could give this zero stars I would, this daycare is beyond unprofessional and racist. I worked there for 2 days and quit my second day when I was in the toddler room when the OWNER grabbed a child by one arm and drug him on the floor and I don't believe she had the intentions of hurting him but there's a right and wrong way to handle situations at a daycare and you never grab a child in that way at a daycare. When the child's mother said it was too rough the owner never even apologized and said she did nothing wrong. This screenshot is one of the "teachers" at the daycare who posted a meme about doing cocaine. They are so unprofessional on the mothers post on Facebook arguing & contradicting the owners original story that the childs teeth were "buried" in another child that's why she pulled him then an employee said he was .2 seconds away.. just beyond sad that anyone would send their kid here. I only lasted two days to see they don't mop every night, they're aggressive with the kids & the man who works there rubbed me very wrong he makes sexual comments and racist remarks.. complaining about people who get state Aid and bring their kids in Jordan's etc to daycare .... There is no one better than Jennifer Dempski and her staff to take care of our two young daughters. Genuine care and concern for my children was felt as soon as I walked in the doors. Their communication app is fantastic for getting up to date information and pictures of my kids. My children have been with Jennifer since August of 2012. First in her home, and now in the new fabulous center off of Rte 173. We just love this daycare. My children love it too! When asked if they want to stay home on vacation days or go to Miss Jen's, the answer is always "GO TO MISS JEN'S!! Jennifer is organized, professional, and the environment is just perfect for my two active school age children. Jennifer goes above and beyond in helping families feel right at home, and she is quick to notify you of anything you need to know. She also sends a quick inquiry if you forget to tell her your child won't be getting off the bus (I'm guilty!). Check her out!! The local schools bus to her location, and she has extended hours!! I would not normally do this but Christine has not really left me any choice. He sent me a personal message telling me that I was the one that was ghetto and that I should keep my children away from A solid Foundation. I have come to learn that she is been involved with another day care where she slandered them also. People of this caliber are not meant to be listened to. 1. 90% of staff are extremely nice and really do care about children. 10% have nasty attitude as if they do not want to work here and it is very clear when I drop my kids off in the morning. 2. I was told by the staff that my daughter (then 1.5 years old) does not act appropriately as we do not do a good job and that shows when she is in the day care. My daughter spent from Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Majority of her "awake" time is spent there yet we are the one who do not do a good job... 3. The owner talked badly about her staff telling us how some of them are stupid or useless. Who hired these stupid and useless people? Oh that's her, the owner..... 4. The owner also told us about some kids' family background how they ended up in grandparents' care due to drug problem of birth parents. Just made me wonder what does she talk about us to other parents. 5. We expressed our concerns about having the bar / slot machine place next to the Daycare facility and how inappropriate especially kids need to walk in front of the place between the Center and Playground. The owner said "they only serve 2 beers." So does it make it ok to have this type of establishment next to the daycare? 2 bottles of beers can make people drunk and your kids might be ran over. But hey, they only drunk 2 bottles right? 6. I know that kids bite other kids and I expressed the concerns. I was basically told "so what?" as she has masters degree and knows what she is talking about. If she is really that smart, she would not be talking with words like "SH_T" and "FU_K" in her office. 7. One of the teachers was not aware, but I was watching my child through the window in the class room when she purposely pushed my child as the teacher was annoyed. There are VERY WONDERFUL and CARING people such as Erin, Rychell​e and Jenny to name a few working there who deserve 5 stars. Worst experience ! My cousin witnessed the owner pulling my child with one arm very roughly! And when I reviewed the video and told her she was to rough she proceeded to tell me that she did nothing wrong. Once I posted a status about the incident I got tons and tons of messages and calls with all their bad experiences that were very disturbing , many of her ex employees have told me disturbing stories as well... their staff even arguing on my status saying they did no wrong .... racist remarks that "we aren't treated right because we're with black men we don't know what real love is" . "They hate all these public aid people always send their kids in Jordan's and name brand stuff but get help from the state" . "They're so racist it's disgusting ... my son is only one year old by the way! She pulled him about 3ft on the floor because "he was about to bite someone" when I asked to see the bite on the child apparently there was no mark because the child was wearing a onesie but then after her staff was so unprofessionally commenting on my status one that was even in the contradicted the owners exact words of "his teeth were BURRIED in another kid" but employee commented he was ".2" seconds away from biting the other child. She never once apologized! She said she had 4 kids that turned out fine with her parenting but daycare children are NOT YOUR children to parent. Definitely not somewhere I would send my son. I've heard many people complain about this place, I am actually shocked to hear they have ANY good Yelp reviews. A friend of mines son has been going there a while and there has been nothing but problems. Her son and her have both been treated horribly, the owners even went as far as talking about her sons weight on many occasions. That is absolutely unacceptable behavior and would never want my child around people who treat innocent children like that. Her son is still upset and hurt by the comments. She is a single mother who within a day had to find a whole new daycare to take her son to. They even commented on her financial situation as well via text messages. I'm just wondering if this is the staff writing these nice reviews because my experience along with so many others, along with alot of staff current and former has been horrible. The director is very unprofessional, she speaks about parents personal business (divorce, financial situations, cheating allegations etc.)) in front of other parents, staff, and children. This can be traumatizing to a child. Also there have been many parents including myself who have complained about them stealing diapers, shoes, clothes,etc. Also, the director's personal life started making the daycare unsafe. Her married boyfriend who works there has a daughter and a now soon to be ex wife who have had a few confrontations in the daycare. One confrontation that happened with them outside the daycare in front of the children was with the director and her married boyfriend's daughter In which they exchanged a lot of words using mostly profanity and then the daughter jumped on the director's car and the director started driving fast around the parking lot yelling to her staff to beat the 17 year old young lady up. She has also had many other confrontations there and some have been in the classroom in front of the children. Where are the safety measures to keep random people from getting into our children's classrooms? It's ridiculous. It's so many red flags that came up at this daycare, so there is no way possible I believe these nice reviews. Parents are removing there kids left and right and staff is constantly quitting because of the horrible environment. read more

I wish I had better things to say about this place I have never ever been treated so crappy then bringing my son to the solid foundation day care I was there for a little over a year and I should have saw the red flags in this place the first week my son was there they told me my son should be an actor and basically was ready to drop him after a week but I talked them into keeping him. I thought maybe things would change. I brought toys and video games and other items to the daycare for the older kids to be able to play with cause I was being a good person. the last week of march I had never been treated and talked to like I was some looser on the street they talk about my parenting and they bash you and make u feel like you are the worst person in the world Jennifer and vince are mean and they have no people skills to single mothers especially they told my step mom that they were wrong in how they treated me but never heard an apology just that they was going to send me to collections over 24bucks and they never once attempted to say we are sorry for how we treated you and they know they said a lot of hurtfull things that I never deserved I never once disrespected them and never deserved the way they treated me and my son I will always be on my sons side over anyone but they said oh your going to believe an 8 yr old that believes n the easter bunny and santa ugh yea hes my son. read more

Ask about certifications if you choose this place. Im sure the director will get an attitude and tell you off thinking you are trying to tell her how to do her job. Ha! What a joke. Staff doesn't properly watch children. I have plenty of pictures of how my child has come home from this place, from scratches that look like they're from a cat's claws, to what looks like bug bites, rashes in places that rashes should not be if properly changed. . Also, if you have children under 2 years old, children who, by doctors orders, should not have anything other than whole milk, the director will tell you she buys what she wants and will give it to your child because she claims there's no difference. I have witnessed her boyfriend, the guy who wears small shorts around the daycare looking lost, I've witnessed him return a ridiculous amount of milk to the local Walmart, down the street from the daycare, after DCSF had paid the center a visit...Im guessing to make it look like they do the right thing...??? I don't understand how anyone could think I could make all of this up. I have pictures and many text messages that talk down on her staff, her customers, and the government agency that pays her for childcare calling them out of their name. I keep everything. I also have messages from her that state when she had "went off" on a mother who was, from her words "yelling at their child". It's absolutely amazing how one could still be in business after such crappy service. For your child's sake, steer clear. But if you do not believe me I encourage you to go in for an inquiry and you will see what I mean, and if you do put your children in there, do random pop ups. You will see the staff on their phone, on tablets, and not paying attention to the children or you will hear them screaming at the children like they are their own. Horrible. And to top it off, my child has emergency medication. When I forgot to pick up the prescription one day, incase anything happened, I told the director and her words to me were "don't worry about it, if your child has an allergic reaction I will stab him with another child's pen".
