I can't say enough good things about Sal, our driver who saved me and my three girlfriends from being stranded! I called AAA, and we got Sal within minutes! He tested my battery but called it, that my fuel pump had gone out. He then worked quickly and efficiently to get my car loaded up and drove us 200 miles home safely! We were stranded 20 miles outside of Needles, CA with a dead battery -- in the dark and in the rain. In the middle of the desert. The woman in dispatch was super responsive and helpful, and she let us know that Anthony was on his way to us ASAP. We ended up waiting about 45 minutes because it was hard to find us in the dark, but Anthony was BEYOND helpful and reassuring. Anthony was great to make conversation with during the ride back also. I'd leave 0 stars if I could. Called AAA due to running out of gas. Yes my bad. So AAA assigned A Toe Truck and give us a 35 min ETA they have our location and know signal is in and out. So we waited. And waited. And waited and waited. So after 60 min I walked until I got signal again called A Toe Truck for an ETA and found out they cancelled our help because we didn't answer the phone. Ummmm. Excuse me. You had our GPS location. You know AAA will pay you and you know there is almost 0 signal and you cancelled the help. So you told me you will Send another truck since you cancelled this one. So we waited. 30 min later get a call from your company telling us that they are just now sending someone and gives us a 30 min ETA. Are you kidding me. So after hours of waiting the driver showed up. Very nice and guy and he felt so bad. He was great. He was nice and felt so bad for us. I tipped him and thanked him. He explained that he would discuss the issue with his boss and try and make sure this didn't happen to someone else. A TOE TRUCK provided us excellent service upon AAA referral. The situation was horrendous: a 118 F heat wave in an already hot and isolated place (Needles), and we had a small kitten on our hands. Although we had to wait longer than expected (in the comfort of a nearby hotel), the heat clearly caused them challenges as well. The dispatcher patiently explained the quite valid reasons for the delay, and in light of that information, we feel that they were giving us the best possible service under very difficult conditions. The actual tow was almost fun. Ray was obviously a pro at his job, and amiable to boot, which was quite reassuring in our distress. The tow to Palm Springs was quick and smooth. My parents passed away in a crash a little over a week ago. They ended up towing the car to this place. My parents had personal belongings in the car and with the rain coming we wanted to make sure they were being protected as much as possible. We ended up being connected with someone named Tina (we think that's her name), who quite frankly lacks empathy and compassion. When speaking to us she was very rude and disrespectful. We have never been in a situation like this and had a lot of questions and concerns. It seemed like she had no interest in helping us and it seemed almost as though we were a nuisance to her. She knew the background of our parent's story and still decided to speak to us in that manner. Just super unprofessional and again just not a very good person. read more

While in the middle of the City at 8:31 I called AAA (Roadside service) who regretfully dispatched the call to A Toe Truck. During my initial call with them (at 9:04am) I spoke with an [albeit not friendly] person who said someone will be there within 30-40 minutes. At 9:42am I called back and connected with the above lady who said, "We have a truck down and it's going to be 60 minutes before someone can get out there" and then she was gone! Rather than call her back I got help elsewhere and figured I'll call them after I get home; however at 10:05am I received a call from a very nice young man (Creighton @ HO Truck) who said he's been looking for my truck but can't find it to which I explained above. At 10:07am I called back A Toe Truck to say what just happened and they said they were going to call me but they were too busy. In the end I had to call them to find out that after nearly :40 minutes they're going to be ANOTHER HOUR and still no ever called me to say someone is actually on their way and will be there in less than :10 minutes. Bottom line you are VERY LIKELY best served by contacting a different tow company as this was failed on many levels with me. read more

After another company decided to leave me stranded ( Active towing) and refused to help put my spare tire on, Patrick with "A TOE TRUCK's " Towing came to my rescue; he couldn't have been more helpful. I had a need for a tow while hauling a loaded car hauler trailer and was in a place that was blocking an offramp at I-40 in Needles, CA. Being at the mercy of AAA, I was told this company would be to my location within 60-90 minutes. Unfortunately, they took close to 3 hours to arrive. The entire time while waiting, I was blocking 1 lane of a 2 lane road crossing an overpass. Once the tow driver arrived, he informed me that AAA had failed to tell him of my exact location and he was over 90 minutes away when he got the call. In my opinion, AAA is to blame for the miscommunication, not the tow company. However, once the vehicle was loaded up, he delivered it to their shop in Needles and I continued on to my destination in Oregon. Since it was a weekend and I was out of the area I didn't expect to hear from the shop for at least a few days. Well, after about a week I heard from the shop and informed them that they had the vehicle for as long as needed to fix it, but to not worry about rushing the repair as I was out of the area. Long story short, they fixed my issue, and were very accommodating with storing it for me until I returned from out of state. They were very kind and understanding about the logistics and charged me a nominal storage fee, as would be expected. Nothing too outrageous and I was pleased to know that this shop was willing to accommodate me. If ever I'm in the area and need a reputable shop for vehicle repair, I wouldn't hesitate to have this shop do the needed repairs. They were honest (a rarity in mechanic shops these days) and didn't price gouge me at all. This place is an asset to the Needles area and is conveniently located near I-40 with easy on/off to the highway. read more

I was stranded with my son on the side of the freeway in 124 degree weather. We had no water with us. The orginal tow company said it would be an hour. 45 minutes into the wait we were told it would be 4-5hours. AAA called this company. They came with in 10 minutes. The drivers name was Shane. While driving West on I-40, my car suddenly lost power and we were fortunate to coast down an offramp. We called AAA for a tow company to take us to Needles. The AAA operator mentioned that many tow trucks will not take passengers due to Covid. I was with my wife, son and daughter. We were genuinely concerned about our transportation as walking was not an option. We hit the lottery when Shane from A Toe Truck arrived. He arrived quickly and was very professional. After inspecting the car and speaking with us, he assured my wife that we could drive with him to Needles. He also arranged for a mechanic to examine the car and confirm if we blew a rod. After visiting the mechanic, he dropped us off at the Best Western. Lastly, he provided very valuable and honest advice about the potential costs to repair the engine, tow our SUV back to San Diego, etc. Shane went above and beyond his job description and made a stressful situation as enjoyable as possible. We needed our fifth wheel taken on a flat bed semi. The semi they have for this service was very high. So high that he couldn't turn around on just any side road because of clearance. After our truck and fifth wheel were loaded we were even higher. They did an excellent job loading our entire rig safely and taking us for service to Needles CA. On Monday January 11, 2021 I experienced a blow out on my travel trailer. The tires on travel trailers are commonly known as "China Bombs" in the RV community. Unfortunately I did not have the proper tools to effect the tire change myself. Fortunately I have AAA. Shortly after submitting my request I was contacted by phone by Shane. He explained that he was a few miles out and would be there soon. I was on the side of US95 South of Needles. The area I was in was a very narrow shoulder on the side of the two lane roadway. Shane arrived and went straight to work. I had already "farkled" the lug nuts making his job tougher. He was able to overcome the problems I caused and completed the task. He then set me up with a tire connection in Needles. I enjoy doing business with locals, however I don't usually travel 600 miles to meet new people. Recently dealt with a very rude tow truck driver who spent approximately 25 min getting my 18 wheeler pulled out from some gravel (front wheels). I was told they charge $240/hr and when he finished, proceeded to charge me $840 claiming that he was on OT and had to pay the agency who called (Sherrif) because they had a contract. He was very rude and said he could leave me stuck there if I wanted. I was at 1030 pm night on I40 one mile from needles. When I cAlled the office to complain and ?? bill, they said they would call back but didn't. I called again and was told that their rate is $240/hr if I made the call and their records showed the driver dispatched for 2 hours to help me. Bunch of BS because he was only there 25 mins. I had no choice but to pay. They said the the price doubles if Agency calls? Crock!!! Note to self take pic when your tow arrives and when finish. Parents truck broke down 77 miles from needles. Took them over 2 hrs to get there. Dispatch said the tow would be no more then $500. When the driver got there he said he could also tow the trailer. Didn't mention the extra tow charge. Which I was gonna tow with my motor home. By the time we got to needles the bill was $860. read more
