I was told to bring around 40 small samples of food/drink I take regularly. On arrival, the receptionist explained what would happen and started making a list of the samples I'd brought with me. The environment was calm and I was totally at ease. The testing is based on the Vegas nerve and, once the tester checked and confirmed this would work for me, he held the samples to my cheek (one at a time) and tested how the nerve in my arm reacted. If I lost strength, I had intolerance. It seemed to work and a few samples were identified but this didn't cure my dietary problems in the long run and I'm left dubious as to this type of testing. On the plus side, it's cheap, quick and may well work for some.

I can now walk without crutches and have much more movement after three treatments. Besides answering all my questions thoroughly, the lead osteopath (Tony Carew) always gives me a full and thorough explanation of why I am feeling pain in various areas. The hospital seems to be in the middle of no-where. It was dark and I was driving but it didn't feel like there was a close station. There is parking on site and this hospital has a nice remote, green setting. As I say, it was a busy time by all accounts. i did have to wait for my appointment, not sure what the delay was. Staff whom I met were polite and there was the availabilty of free beverages to be had. Waiting area was clean and comfortable and free wifi available.

It replaced the old delapidated Greenwich hospital and now serves a wider community encompassing Greenwich, Lewisham, Woolwich and even furthur afield. Like all hospitals it suffers from budget problems but the staff themselves I have always found to be friendly and knowledgeable. There's a free buggy service from 9.30am to 4pm which will take those less able to walk around the hospital for free. Parking is only free for disabled and there's not a lot of parking so it's better to go by public transport.

They were all clearly very busy especially being a week-end however they were all so caring and efficient. The rooms you have for when you stay for an operation are some of the best I have seen in hospitals and have en-suite's and tv and video as well as wireless connection. It is a wonderful hospital the only reason for the 4* is purely because the waiting time tends to be longer then one would want. But I like to believe it's because they do such a good job that they like to make sure they have all details on every aspect.

Sadly, BUPA Hospitals recently sold off their hospitals to The Spire Group and they have all been rebadged. We have been fortunate to have private medical insurance for several years and, having had some serious health problems in the family, I am so glad we do. The staff at the hospital, on the whole, are really friendly, welcoming and helpful, with the exception of one or two nursing staff in outpatients. This exception is really down to the fact that when you have to have a 14 hour fasting blood test as a diabetic, it really means 14 hours, not 14 hours 45 minutes, 15 hours, 15 minutes, etc. To be honest, this is the only bad review about the place. We've been outpatients and inpatients and, hospitals being what they are, you don't really want to have to go to one at all, but needs must as they say. You are reassured immediately from the moment you arrive. Nothing is too much trouble for them. I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone and, in the times of NHS targets and waiting lists, you may well be transferred there for treatment instead of the local NHS hospital. Don't hesitate.
