I first gave A1 AC a call back in 2019 when my AC went out in the summer, on a weekend, when I had company visiting from out of town. I remember leaving a message and getting a call back quickly. John was able to come out the same day. He had the parts on hand, fixed the issue, and charged me something reasonable (I don't remember). What I DO remember is having a great experience! This is the 4th time in 4 years that I have used the AC services John and his crew provide. John is reasonably priced and delivers what he advertises. That is 24/7 service. AC's seem to always go out on a weekend and/or holiday and the need for a 24/7 operation is necessary. His competitors advertise this service but DO NOT DELIVER. Very happy with the service we received recently from A1. We are part time residents at our condo, so when our air condioner was acting up on a late Sunday night in August, we were concerned how long it would take to repair and how much it would cost. We called A1 early Monday morning, since he had installed the unit in 2017. Much to our surprise, techs came out within 3 hours and had the problem fixed very quickly. It was a faulty capacitor. Used A-1 again and not only did they respond very quickly (within 10 minutes!) but did a great job getting us and running with little delay. We have two units in the house on the island and we are terrible about maintenance so we appreciate the honest assessment of any issues we have. So many great reviews, what happened with me? Received a quote good for 30 days, 14 days later the price went up. They quoted 2 weeks to install due to capacity. I guess when business is good, reputation isn't important and your word can be broken. read more

I used John at A-1 in June of 2017 for a simple service call and he came out as promised. He was very professional and pleasant to deal with. Fast forward a year and things changed drastically. I called him three months ago and asked him to service the system again. I get nervous because we're on the 3rd floor and I'm concerned about the lines clogging up and leaking into the units below us. He never showed up so when we were down last week at the condo I called John up and asked if he could come service the unit. That was last Monday and he said he would be there the next day. He never showed up and he never called to let me know he wouldn't be able to make it. I called him that evening to see what happened and he didn't answer the phone and I left him a message I was a little disappointed in the lack of service and professionalism. My wife and I left the next morning to head home in Austin. While on the road a lady from A-1's office called and apologized that no one showed up due to an emergency the previous day. I completely understand that things come up but I don't understand why someone couldn't call. She stated that someone would be there the next day on Thursday. They did show up the next day and supposedly serviced the system. We had guests come in on Friday afternoon and I just received a message from the guests stating it had been warm in the condo since they got there Friday. The thermostat has been on 70 all along and the temp in the condo is hovering between 77 and 80. I just sent John a message regarding the temp in the condo. (By the way, the AC has been running perfectly until this last service call) The following is John's r text back to me. I'm sorry you are dissatisfied. Call someone else. I have to ask the question, am I wrong for being disappointed in the lack of service and professionalism? At some point I'm going to have to have a new system installed and it won't be through John and A-1 Air Conditioning. read more

I can't say enough about John! I have a couple of rental properties on South Padre Island and my own home here. With the rough elements that we have to deal with being right on the Gulf of Mexico - wind, sand and salt - the air conditioners are really put through harsh times. A-1 is by far the best air conditioning service that there is! I have lived here for over 20 years and the experience has been consistent with them - perfection!
