I recently bought a house, and I needed to get my locks rekeyed. I called this business on Friday or Saturday, and they said they couldn't come out then, but they would come out between 10 and 11 today Monday the 17th. They never showed up, they never called me, and when I tried to call them, it went to message every time. since they ghosted me, I've given up, and I called a different locksmith who will more than likely actually show up. I had an emergency situation where I couldn't get into house. Bottom lock was broken and keys locked inside house. I called the office and in less than 10 minutes I received a call back and Rick was on his way. (In Lake County this so so rare) He came right over. Assessed the situation and proceeded. A1 is right. I've had to use them 3 times now. Once when my keys were stolen and I had no way to start my truck. They made it convenient to get a replacement key fast. This past weekend while up at a friend's vacation home in Clear Lake, I idiotically lost the keys to my truck (they probably fell into the lake, but that's a whole other story). Long story short, I called A1 that night and Clint came out first thing in the morning. He was professional, friendly, and just awesome overall. He was able to (eventually) get into my truck, and made duplicate keys on the spot. This was great considering that their shop is about an hour drive from where I was. Complete waste of time. He said he would order us a lock for my fiancé's car and install it and we came in when he told us to but they didn't have it ready. They took it apart and couldn't figure out how to put it back together. They told us to come back in on Monday which we did but they still weren't ready. They said it would take two hours and that they would call us. After three and a half hours of nothing we called them, one was on a call and had no clue how the lock was. He said he'd call us right back and let us know. After 2 more hours we called again, he repeated the same thing. Once again we heard nothing for a couple hours so we called and he still had know clue. Once it got near closing we rushed over, which isn't cheap since we live 30 min away, they weren't there. They didn't answer their phone for a hour and a half. Finally got a hold of them and they never got the lock out back together. Completely incompetent. We are done with their services. I would never recommend them to anyone. read more

I had called another local locksmith and was told that replacing the key to my Volvo could only be done by the dealer. Unfortunately, there's no local dealer. I decided to get a second opinion and called A1 and I'm so glad I did! They were able to replace my key the same day! This particular key for the year of my car is rare and wasn't used in very many models but they had the blank in stock! They got the code from my vin# and cut the key. I had several other questions about locks in my other vehicles and they took the time to answer every one without making me feel rushed or like I was putting them out. Came in to get an extra house key made for a new rental I had recently moved into with a friend. I saw on Yelp that they had a deal where is was $20 for $10 so I thought why not give it a shot - bought the coupon and went in to get the key copied. The store itself is pretty small, but organized with everything you could think of when it comes to alarms, locks, and keys. Since I had $20 to burn, I ended up getting a duplicate key, two mini stick-on flashlights for the keys (I live in a pretty dark area so it's helpful to have the flashlight on the key when fumbling to find the door lock), and a couple parachute cords that had been braided to fit on a keychain. The employee I talked to was very friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. I was probably in and out of the store within 20 minutes total. No complaints, and I was very satisfied with the the amount I was able to purchase with the coupon. read more

Our new renter got licked out on her first day, called me at 7pm and I figured some locksmith would take 8 hours (with bad attitude) and charge me $300 to do a 10 minute job. Instead, he was polite and drove from a Lakeport to Glenhaven in a half hour and did the whole job and more for a fraction of that price. After he remedied the problem, he called me for my credit card info. Wow! Someone honest and quick and trusting. Our renter called with rave reviews, too! I was so pleasantly surprised. Rick expressed that he could make a "cloned" key for my 2011 Endeavor. The appointment was set for 10:00 am, but he didn't show up until around 4, yet that isn't even the beginning of the horrid service received by him. He made a key (finally!), and it wouldn't start the car. "Oh, I thought you just needed to get inside the car!" Or something like that was said to my son in law. NO. You were hired to make a key to START the car. "Oh. Well, you'll have to take it to a mechanic. It's not the key." So off the the mechanic, we go. After paying Rick and the mechanic (roughly now $300 out of our pocket), the car still won't start. Long story short, Rick then claimed he couldn't get a hold of my son in law. Why didn't he call me??? I went to his shop, personally, and gave him my number (I am the registered owner). Lost 1.5 weeks' time, there. Then, he supposedly ordered the right key from the mfg. 2.5 more weeks later (we're talking a month, now!!!), still no key. "I CAN'T CONTROL MITSUBISHI!" was his answer to my polite inquiry. Off to the dealer we have the car towed, who produced a key on the spot in about 3 hours...the dealer being in Oakland. Long day. So, the money we paid Rick was for him to learn that he knew nothing about Mitsuibishis??? Not on my watch. He will hear from us soon. I am prepared to bring legal action against him. Not only did he charge us for a non-working key, send us to a mechanic for nothing, string us along for a month, but he also went hysterical, verbally, upon my simple inquiry. I have no idea how he is even still in business. read more

Clint came to ukiah the same day I called and did an excellent job re-keying the locks on my rental as my tenant had just moved out. Customer service was top notch and the work done was outstanding. My Toyota Prius slot key was not working for unlocking doors. On the phone, I was told if the key needed replacing, it would cost about $200. Three days later I took the key in. I was told I needed a new key which would cost $200 plus $50 to program. Ten days later I called, and they said the key had arrived and I went in that day. It took 2 people almost 2 hours to program the new key due to many failed attempts followed by a technical assistance phone call. When it came time to pay, they said these keys are very expensive: $250 for the key and $150 to program! That's $400 total but a great savings considering the $900 it would have cost from a dealership! I should have gotten the estimate in writing. He told me what I remembered was not what he said, and I began to doubt myself. The key works, but checking later with my nephew who works for a Toyota dealership in the LA area, $225 to $250 would have been the reasonable amount. I was overcharged about $150! read more
