A technician came out to repair my gas stove top, (the burners were not lighting) after spending about 10 minutes pulling it out and sorting out the problem he had it up and running. He put it all back together and checked it was working before he left. All Good, The next day it I went to use it, and once again it was not working, he came back out, there used to be a class top that the previous tenant broke, turns out that under the hinge for the glass top is a little button that the weight of the glass would keep pressed into place when it was up so you could access the burners, the owners had placed a plank of wood over the top (not connected to the hinge) in place of the glass top and when I removed it I slightly knocked the hinge and it released the button. The tech was super lovely, explained what had happened, and suggested that I remove the wood entirely to avoid it happening again. Did not charge another call-out fee or labour for coming back out. And showed me how to recitify the problem if it happened again. read more
