NEVER AGAIN. Kid took advantage of an old lady with a husband with Alzheimer's disease. All I wanted was the garage door opener repaired - the eyes were having an issue. Next thing I knew, the spring was about to snap, the pulleys were wrong, and the tube was being cut through and it was the end of the world on my garage door, and it went on and on. $3000 YES - THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS later and I didn't even get kissed. I am so mad at myself for not getting a 2nd opinion. This company took complete advantage of my naivete and age. I am reporting them to the BBB because they charged me also for things I didn't approve like a stupid one-year warranty. Like I'd ever have them back. AWFUL COMPANY. I called A1 for repair of a 12' door. When I called, I got a virtual assistant that asked questions. One of the questions was "is your door larger than 10', to which I said yes. The appointment was made for today between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm. When he wasn't here by 1:00 we called to inquire and was told that he just left his last call and was on his way and would be here within 30 minutes. Forty-five minutes later, he still wasn't here, so my husband called and was then told that the technician was running late, and the dispatcher was "just getting ready to call us". He finally showed about 2:30, only to tell me that they did not work on doors larger than 10'. After all this he is kind enough to tell me that we wouldn't be charged for the service call. Very shady place. Beware. I took was overcharged for garage door springs, happened on a Sunday, couldnt open the door. Very overpriced, very confused young man bargaining with me til a rate was agreed upon. No paperwork either. Referred me to good leap for financing. Disgusting!! Had a local place been open on Sunday, their price would have been 1/3 what this place charged me. And that price was brought down from $2200 to $1052. For springs !!! I dont care if someone says their parts are more quality than another place. That's bs. I was charged addtl to get the door up and opened, tho I participated in weighing and getting the scale under the door. Shady and underhanded no matter how you look at this place !!!! You dont bargain for a price, you have set prices for a simple repair. read more

Our wooden garage door was original equipment from 1952. The cable on one of the tension springs broke, split the wood it was attached to and moved trusses in the garage. Yikes. I called A1 and talked to a human being who scheduled our appointment. This was probably one of the best interactions with a business I've ever had. They worked around my schedule, were very professional yet friendly and conversational, and when we decided it was time to just let the old door go, they came in under what we expected the price would be. I had already replaced the controller and they didn't try to talk me into replacing it again. The let me choose the door with no pressure for upselling. They sent one tech out who removed the old door and installed the new one in about five hours. Great product, great price and great service. read more

We had a spring break on our garage door and were consequently locked inside. We called A1 to come out. They were courteous on the phone and prompt in getting us in the next morning. They also did a good job of the repair. However, they were very expensive in that the total bill was 1547.00 for an hour of labor and 2 springs, 10 rollers, and 3 bearings, which all should be relatively inexpensive parts. Also, the repair man did not explain the "worry free" club. We were signed up for it against our understanding. That was 155.00 of the final bill and it also automatically renews every year if we do not cancel. We also could not see the invoice until we paid and the technician and then it was emailed to us. No paper bill was provided. We are elderly and all of this was frustrating and confusing. Just too expensive for us to do business with again, even though the job was completed timely and done well by the technician. read more

My garage door spring snapped on a Saturday. I called 3 different places and A1 was the only company that could come out ASAP. I had a Monday morning appointment, they called on Sunday and the service tech came out on Sunday and installed 2 new springs. The service tech 'Jesse' walked me through everything, step by step. You will pay top dollar if you use A1 Garage door service. I had to leave when the repair guy arrived and left it to my wife to get the job done. The guy told her the door needed new rollers even though we really only needed a new opener. That was 300 extra dollars that was on top of 1300 for the opener. This place is overpriced and definitely not worth the money. I had two openers installed in my pole barn 3 months prior for 300 less than the one opener from A1. Call around and get a better price, don't call these guys. I will give them this, they were prompt and polite. read more
