We had a horrible experience with A1 and I strongly encourage you to look for any other company for your garage door needs. Our garage door spring broke and we tried to contact Pro Door Doctor, having had a wonderful experience with them in the past. Upon learning that A1 had acquired the company, we decided to move forward in hopes that the experience would be the same. We couldn't have been more wrong. We set an appointment time window when both of us could be home. The technician showed up early. He priced out the broken spring, some hinges, and other minor repairs needed that I quickly signed for while on a conference call. I came out a short bit later to check on how things were going and he said "we haven't even talked about the motor yet!" and proceeded to convince me that I needed a new motor. Additionally, he ran tests on my other garage door, which I did not give him permission to do and tried to sell me on repairs for that one as well (which thankfully I declined). All in and done, we were charged $2800 - $880 alone for a motor we did not need, is NOT quiet like the motor we had, and cost us 3x what it retails new online. I was also told that he could give me a discount that was better than the free consultation coupon that we had but the "discount" was actually signing onto some kind of warranty program that I didn't get any explanation for. We called multiple times over multiple weeks to complain and never made it past an initial Customer Care agent. They say they are documenting what you say and passing it to their "escalation team" to call you back, but you will never hear from them. We called them last Thursday. One our springs was broken. We scheduled a service person to come out. The soonest they could come was Mondqy. Made sure to be off work to meet the Tech by 2. Got a call that they needed to come on Tuesday. Ok, fine. But very concerned the other spring might break. The guy calls when on my way home. He's already in my neighborhood finishing up a job. Can be here in 1 minute. GREAT! I get home, meet the guy, he shows me his quote, WAY too high, 800- 1200. I said no thanks, we will look around...he said he needed a $40 service call fee!!! Noone said that at the time of appt setup. He didn't spend more than 5 minutes. We called another place and have an appt tomorrow. 400!! I would not recommend! Tech was nice though. read more

Very impressed with sales and service. We wanted to insulate our existing double and single existing metal doors and replace the damaged gasket around the doors. We met at the showroom and were shown the different types of insulation and gasket. We scheduled the work and were pleasantly surprised the installers arrived 30 minutes early to start work. Our garage door went off the tracks on a Sunday morning. I called Pro Door Doctor after looking at their glowing reviews and hoped for the best. I was genuinely surprised that the phone call was answered. I spoke with the owner Bill and he said he would come out and fix the door for me. He came by and had the door fixed in less than 15 minutes. I realize that it was an easy fix for him, however, I messed around with it for the better part of an hour with no results. The best part was when he had finished I asked him how much I owed him, he said just send me an email with your information and we can take care of it that way?! In my world that is customer service...arrived on time, repaired and I will bill you later when we get around to it. I can't say enough about the interaction we had with Bill. Opa! William and his team did right by us. We thought our garage door was now a no-go after the flood did us dirty and bent it into a pretzel. Dr. William came out personally and was confident he could help. He gave us the quote and got to work! He had his team come out and repair it all within 2 hours - and they reinforced it too, so next time around the water may be held at bay and not turn our home into an ocean. *Nice guys, but some issues and felt overpriced* Our garage door had been sticking on the way up for a couple of weeks, and then one day it completely quit working. I called Bill at Pro Door Doctor based on some Yelp reviews I saw. He said he would be there "between 10 and 12 on Monday." I had an appointment that Monday morning, and when I arrived home around 9am, there was a guy in my driveway (not Bill), and he had already opened my garage door (without my permission) and worked on it. I wasn't pleased about his coming early and entering my house without my knowledge, but I went with it, and I assumed it was fixed. He handed me the invoice for $135 and said, "Bill said you would be okay with this." Well, Bill and I had not discussed price, so I thought this was kind of odd, but again, I went with it, saying, "I assume you guys know what it costs to fix garage doors." So I wrote him a check and off he went. Note that although you will talk to Bill and he says things like, "See you Monday," it will likely not be him that comes to fix your garage door. I know this is probably common, but I would have appreciated him just saying, "My guy will be there on Monday" instead. I also noticed that his guy put a "ProDoorDoctor" sticker on my garage wall near the opener (on the paint) without asking me if that was okay. A week or two passed, and our garage door started catching just like it was before. Bill promptly came out the next morning and looked at it. He immediately knew what the problem was, telling me that the plastic on the sides had gotten old and was sticking to the garage door. He said it just needed to be replaced, and that they could replace it. He sent his guy over in the afternoon, and he replaced the strips, and now it seems to be working well. Again, he handed me the invoice, saying, "Bill said you would be okay with this." But once again, Bill had not quoted me any kind of price (I had kind of assumed it would be free since they had not initially fixed my problem). This time, it was $97, so I was up to about $230 for what seemed like a fairly simple repair. Now, I noticed that Bill said I had not initially told the guy what the problem was, or he would have probably realized it in the first place. The reason that doesn't make sense is that I never had a chance to show the guy what was wrong because he arrived 2 hours early, entered my garage without permission, and made repairs without my authorization. And I actually did try to show him the issue, but it wasn't happening at the time because it was still morning, and I guess this only happens after the door heats up in the Sun. I'm still not sure exactly what he did that cost me $135 and didn't fix the problem with my door. Bill had always promptly responded to my calls and texts, but when I texted him about the concern I had with paying so much the initial time and not having my door fixed, he did not respond to my text. Both guys were very nice and their work was high quality, but I will try a different company in the future due to the issues outlined above. read more

All of a sudden today, the garage door wouldn't open. It would go up a third of the way and then go back down. Today was a Saturday and I called Pro Door Doctor in hopes of getting a Monday service appointment. The owner Bill, was in the area and said could come right over. Wow! Who does that these days? It was a two person team and the guys were great to work with. They reviewed my issue with two different doors and not only fixed the problem, but they lubricated the door hinges and spring as well.
