You need the guarantee of a professional taxi service to catch an early morning flight. We had arranged with Raj to pick us up at 5 a.m. for 6:30 a.m. boarding at SFO for our 7 a.m. flight to Seattle. At 4:58 we stood outside waiting. At 5 we called Raj and the call went to voice mail. We left a message. We called twice more, but both times no answer, just voice mail. By 5:15 it became clear he wasn't going to show up. The drive to SFO from our place takes between 35 and 45 minutes, so we got in our car and headed for the airport, discouraged and upset. At 5:37 a.m. Raj called to apologize, saying his alarm didn't go off. We were already on19th Avenue in San Francisco by this time. I feel I need to add what our experience was once we reached the airport. We had to find Long Term Parking for the first time, park, walk to the Air Train, wait for it to arrive, ride15 minutes to the Terminal, go through Security, where my husband's bag was gone through, then walk as fast as our legs would take us to the very last B gate, probably a quarter-mile, hauling our bags because there had been no time to check them. We made it to Gate B21 literally two minutes before the gate was to close. Our stress level by this time was off the charts. I will not be calling Raj again. read more

My girlfriend and I had spent the day hiking from Mt. Tamalpais down to Stinson Beach to eat oysters at Parkside. We were so exhausted from the journey and it was getting dark so we thought it'd be best to take a cab back up Mt. Tam to our car. We called every cab service in the area and no one was willing to drive out to Stinson Beach! We thought we would have to hike 2 hours uphill in the dark to get home. Luckily A1 pulled through. They had a driver come out to us within 20min. The driver was friendly and knew the area so well he didn't even pull out a map. We were safely returned to our car and got home in one piece. Me and my group were trying to get out of Muir Woods National Park and called in for a ride out. They charged us $150 for a 25 minute ride. Seemed like a scam to me! Their standard rates did not even make sense when I tried calculating it. Unacceptable and quite frankly outrageous. Better off using Uber or Lyft! Car smelled bad too. So upon being dropped off the Manzanita stop with another woman Who found out that the Marin Air-porter driver had called a taxi for her ride to the wrong stop. (Spencer instead of Manzanita) upon realization, the Airporter driver driver then rectified the mistake and recalled a pick up to the Manzanita stop. While waiting we found out I was going the same direction as she was going a little further than I was, towards the downtown area of Mill Valley. All the driver need do is pull over and let me out. We decided to pull our efforts and share the taxi. After we had settled in then made a executive decision that he was going to charge us the minimum $20 fare per ride - per person as he said it was per call. He said he was new at the company and he wanted to make sure that he was doing the right thing. That's $40 from a ride from Manzanita to downtown Mill Valley. Also my new friend didn't not recall that the taxi driver turned the meter over to create a new ride that merited the other $20 minimum ride fair when I exited the taxi on Miller Ave. It looks like this guy was skimming he made a call in to verify this, but am I wrong in thinking that that is really crazy and really exorbitant?? I called A1 today to schedule a ride from my home in Muir Beach to the Manzanita. I have used this company once before to make the same trip. Last time it was pleasant and the 5 mile drive was reasonably affordable. Today was an awful experience. The person I spoke to asked me how much he charged me last time and I truthfully replied. He then began screaming that I was not being truthful. I calmed him down briefly and he came back with a $50 estimate or he would not do business with me. I was embarrassed for him and decided he was not someone I would trust to make good on a critical reservation. Perhaps he was having a bad day. Don't know and don't care. read more

Asked for a taxi to transport 2 people and 2 bicycles, assuming the taxi would have bicycle racks. The taxi that came was late and offered a poor solution for transporting the bikes (trying to cram them into a trunk in which they wouldn't fit). I decided to cancel the taxi and the driver demanded $15 just for showing up (I think it's fair to give him something for coming out but $15 is a bit too much to ask). Would not recommend. read more

After having a cement-less total knee replacement I was instructed to be on crutches and no driving for 6 weeks. I need to go physical therapy twice a week down at Renew in plaza at Tam Junction, 1 mile from my house. These jokers have a minimum charge of 15$? Luckily my appt was late in the day and my wife picked me up on her way home from work, otherwise it would have cost me 30$ for 2 miles! I just moved to Marin / Mill Valley from Oakland and had no idea who to call. Based on wonderful Yelpers, I called this service and was very happy with the service. I had a medical procedure in SF that required me to not drive back unaccompanied (couldn't just take taxi). I wound up late so drove in myself and then had to taxi back later to get my car out of the hospital lot after I slept off the anesthesia. I was in a foul mood (due to my lame planning skills requiring me to make 2 trips to SF in one day) and my brain-state wasn't really up for any hassles or delays, as I was already missing a lot of my work day. PROS: I called and got an intelligent (intelligible) person on the line who confirmed someone would be at my home within 10 minutes and indeed they were. The car was neat (but 'limo' is quite a stretch - it had blacked out windows in the back, other than that, just a regular taxi type car). CONS: I would give the service 5 stars IF the driver hadn't been on his cell phone the entire ride (distracted to say the least - if I'm paying someone to drive me I kind of expect their undivided attention on the road - is this too much to ask? I know this is typical of most taxi drivers) and for the fact that I had to tell him the fastest route how to get to my destination (using Google Maps). He told me about his "preferred route" which would have definitely taken longer and cost more. And because he was on the phone he wasn't really paying attention to my direction about which way to go and almost made a wrong turn which would have been really out of the way. It was annoying to have to direct a taxi driver where to go given the great mobile apps we have now. It cost me $50 from Mill Valley to the Laurel district of SF (25 minute drive) which I thought was steep, but I'm sure that's competitive. I asked what it would cost to go to SFO and he said about $95. read more

Raj has been my "go to" driver for at least 7 years now. It's usually for an early morning trip to the airport. Raj has never let me down. If I ask to be picked up at 4am he is there, usually early, wide awake and smiling. From time to time I have to make last minute rush trips to the airport which means an urgent call to Raj asking "can you pick me up in 15 minutes?" He gives me an honest answer on when he can arrive. If we run into traffic on the way Raj quickly consults WAZE to find us an alternative route. I haven't missed a flight yet. On return trips home I usually have Raj pick me up at SFO or OAK. He is more dependable and more pleasant to spend time with than any of the airport taxis. And he knows his way to Marin! You won't go wrong calling Raj. I have only one request: please don't be the person using Raj when I need to make an unexpected trip to the airport! read more

Our group was attempting to get a ride out of Muir Woods National Park. We had called Limo Taxi who told us they would have a van for us as we needed to accommodate 6 passengers. They put an enormous price on driving from Muir Woods to Saulsilito, which seemed like a scam. Turned out that the line I had called, the person was also waiting in the parking lot of Muir Woods and when we spoke in person he said that there is no van (contradicting what he just said on the phone) and if we paid more than he would charge for a single car, we could put our six person group into his four person car. Nothing about the driver or that offer seemed safe, and we felt very uncomfortable so we did not take the service. The driver was exceptionally rude and I will never use this service under any circumstance. read more

Raj has been driving me for nearly 15 years and he has never failed to show up on time. He is always polite and courteous and willing to go the extra mile - he takes me back and forth to SFO every couple of weeks, and I just text or call him my flight details or pick up time from home and he's always there as promised. Even when my flight is delayed - as in last night originally getting in at 9pm, actual arrival time 1am (thanks United) - he was monitoring the website and showed up at baggage claim just as I stepped outside.
