What was the point of telling the operator where I was going if this is not passed to the driver and what kind of Taxi driver doesn't know his way in to Manchester! WE are only 10 miles away! I had to use the app on my phone which used up most of my battery ( not to mention data time!) leaving me little left to book a taxi home (not SWIFT clearly!). For a 20 minute journey it took 45 minutes. Needless to say I was late for a very important meeting. I was warned not to use SWIFT but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED. The ticket machine that accepts notes wasn't working and I only had two crisp ten pound notes. Plus my friend had already bought a ticket - bummer. Also, we weren't sure which was the last tram going in to Manchester. 2. A boy (he shall remain nameless) was relieving himself in the station and shouting out my friend's name. Acquaintances from a long gone era, you see. He had had way too much to drink and demonstrated this by practically concussing himself on the broken ticket machine and dropping all his belongings. So, we literally ran round the corner to Prestwich Cars to order a cab. To get out of there. It was only around £8 anyway so if my friend hadn't bought her tram ticket first it would have been much more cost efficient. Plus the driver turned a blind eye as we drank our 'blackcurrant' from an Evian bottle.

The drivers are very friendly and chatty and very helpful, for example if you are going to the airport they will sort all the bags out etc. The prices for taxis are also very competitive. I have recently moved areas which is a shame as it means i can't use this taxi firm but i recommend anyone in the area who needs a taxi to the airport to use this taxi firm as they are the cheapest I have come across. A lot of other taxi companies rip you off for airport runs. Also another thing to bear in mind is they dont increase their rates after midnight so if you are on a night out and get a taxi back it is well worth booking with them rather than hailing a taxi down in the street.

Is a shortcut a longer route around because of an inability to stop in traffic lights? It's not a shortcut, it's impatience. Traffic and traffic lights go hand in hand with town. Don't hit the empty back streets and open ring roads and give the impression that it's a shortcut. hmm. Forgiven for now. What I don't understand about many of Manchester's taxis is that they don't know where a lot of my destinations are. When I'm a little sketchy I expect the taxi driver, the authority behind the wheel to fill in the gaps. Often it's a case of guessing games, more so this time than ever. I don't know, is it to too much to expect? We paid £9 driving around Manchester city centre which was a usual £5 fare. And we never made it to the Star and Garter. Was it that difficult? So change of night and venue due to this taxi driver, hardly impressive. Northern Quarter again we find ourselves, not really questioning the failure of the taxi driver or the fare.
