Went in for smog check. Was immediately greeted when I pulled up. Was lucky enough to not any customers in front of me. The gentleman that helped me (I believe his name was Luis Elias) gave great customer service and had a pleasant attitude. I was in and out of there in about 20 minutes with a passed smog test. Have used AA Smog Test since we came to Bakersfield from Oregon in 2011 they've always passed 1st time or on retest when I've had to drive my truck at least 50 miles to reset. Have always been professional and quick to finish the test, as I'm a disabled Viet Nam Veteran I've found the father and son easy to interact with. read more

Went in to get a smog test on an older vehicle. I presented a $10.00 off Coupon and the Tech immediately went into a 'changed' behavior toward me. I paid the requested amount of $40. plus tax. It was their coupon from a neighborhood circular. The car failed, so I got the car repaired'' but it failed again. I had it smoked and repaired again and brought it back for a second retest. The staff went bonkers and refused to test the car. The situation was violent to me. They said I wanted something for free, when their signs say's RETEST. Avoid this place like it was factory for COVID-19. The technician who checked my vehicle fed me poor information which led me to spending several hundred dollars to learn my truck does not meet admission standards. To date, I'm roughly $450.00 in the hole. I spent the week in and out of this place attempting to get my 1996 Dodge Dakota to pass a smog check. Long story short -- it didn't. On the first attempt I learned that my catalytic converter wasn't up to code. So I took it to a muffler shop and they told me that certain serial numbers appeared to be worn, but appeared legitimate. Pedro, the smog technician, said he feared that the device wasn't installed at the proper time and may have been illegitimately modified. So he didn't pass it. I decided to replace the catalytic converter instead of taking it to another test center and essential being told the same thing as Pedro had already updated the system with his opinion of the matter. He also insisted that other smog centers would say the same thing. I took it back soon after the new unit was installed and it failed. Pedro told me to drive it for about 10 miles. I drove it 25, took it back the following afternoon, had it tested again only to be told it failed. I then paid him another $20.00. Pedro said took take it to a smog and repair center after all that. I'm done listening to him and the his dodgy information which has cost me hundreds of dollars. I won't go as far as to call this business dishonest, but they are definitely prone to issuing bad advice which nulls any credibility they may have with me. Do yourself a favor and find another shop. read more

Did you know this is one of the only smog places open until 6pm? That is what brought me here, but the customer service is what brought me back here to yelp to report on it. This shop was honest: he asked us right away if our check engine was on. (You know a car won't pass smog with that little light shining on it's dash. If you didn't know this, some places won't inform you and test your car anyway so that they can get paid). Our smog check was done with a quickness while we walked over and enjoyed some ice cream @ Rosemarys. They were done before we were. The technician was friendly and we passed so of course we were happy - a positive experience all around. 10/10 would recommend. read more

I have been going here with my vehicles for over 10 years and never a problem. My vehicle is an older stock diesel truck. It's always the same younger gentleman that helped me who was always friendly. This time it was Manny one of the owners i presume and he was absolutely rude from the start and failed my vehicle for the first time ever. He said he saw to much smoke when he floored the accelerator... of course it's and older diesel, if you floor it, it burns lots of fuel...if that isn't subjective! When I asked why it failed so I could better understand what to do or tell a mechanic, he said "you failed and it says that on your (VIR) report!" I looked at my report and asked him to explain why i failed again? What is his computer saying? Can you tell me what the different parts of the test readings were bc the report hardly had any info on it. He refused to answer my questions and just said he is not a mechanic and that he couldn't tell me why. The inspection took him all of 2-3 minutes to fail me, he never said one word to me or asked any questions until he said "your truck failed". This whole time he would hardly look at me. I asked now what do I do, and he said I needed to pay and get out because he is trying to run a business. I will never go there again, I will tell everyone I know about how horrible I was treated. This is no way to run a business. He needs to take lessons from his business partner. If you have never failed a smog check then just know their is little recourse for you, just a lot of headache as i am learning. Now I get to spend lots of money and time trying fix something that isn't broken. So something that should be a simple process just turned in to a huge headache and a little explanation, kindness and help would have gone a long way. So far i have found nothing wrong with my truck so i guess i get to try to test somewhere else and pay again. Honestly I think he isn't very Patriotic because he kept looking at my patriotic, I love America shirt in a very negatively assuming way. This day in age that wouldn't surprise me! Smog checks... and lots of people who think America isn't the greatest country on earth are just a couple more reasons to leave California and never look back. FYI, You lost more than one loyal customer because i know a couple people who go there. I told them what happened and they will never go back there either! Be rude, go broke! read more

Small shop, but very nice and efficient. I came right when they were closing and they told me to just come right in. I see why though, it maybe only took 10 to 15 minutes of me being there, and my car passed the smog with no problems he said. I'm good to go for the next two years and since I had left the DMV right before I got there(I paid for my new tags/registration first), my new tags will be sent right over to my house. When you get a smog the results get transmitted to the DMV automatically. read more

These guys make getting a smog check a fast and easy experience. Highly recommend. I drove by two other smog places close to my house at 4:30pm and both were inexplicably closed. I drove in to AA and greeted by a young guy (can't remember his name) who was very friendly and got my car hooked up and tested right away. For newer vehicles it takes like 10 minutes. Paid cash and was in and out of there in 15 minutes. Busy people need fast smog service like this! I've been super disappointed with other places in town. This is my go to smog place now. Don't recommend. Don't go. Go down the street for a better experience. The guy working there basically just told me to go somewhere else. I understand I had an older vehicle but I called in advance and he said of course to come down but he was rude and wouldn't elaborate in detail on why he couldn't test my car when I got there and he saw it for no more than 30 seconds. After asking why and prying an answer from him he THOUGHT something wasn't original but wasn't sure so basically told me to leave. No research on his end or anything just assumptions. After that it was like talking to a wall. He was rude. I recommend superior automotive down the street. Shiela and the mechanics there were waaay better and took the time for me. Super helpful. And what do you know, my car passed. They didn't mention anything was off and when I mentioned the same part that the guy at AA had doubts about they looked it up, maybe 5 minutes tops and guess what, They verified it was ok. Crazy what alittle effort does. I don't know if the guy at AA was lazy or just a prick but I guarantee you I'll never be back. read more
