My Granddaughter had to visit here for when she went to apply for her TSA precheck stuff. Staff were very friendly and she did comment that they all wanted to be her travel agent lol she already has one that we know personally but I do advise if you are traveling please get you one as it's a free option and just another set of eyes watching your vacation stuff and it's important to have a good point of contact that you can rely on. The GPS doesn't lead you directly to this location so I had some difficulty locating their office. It is located near the Japanese restaurant, so turn left and you should see their AAA sign. There was hardly anyone in the office due to the pandemic and it looks like they took the necessary safety precautions. I drove here with the intention of getting my passport photos done which was a quick and easy process. I only had to pay $8+tax for a copy of 2 instant ready passport photos. No appointment needed and they can provide passport renewal forms as well. read more

I came in today (a Saturday) and the two lovely gentlemen working were swamped between several waiting people seated in their little sitting area and the phone, but were so welcome and courteous when I came in. Seriously, these guys are what Customer Service should be: professional, courteous, and efficient! They were very quick to help and between getting my app and taking the photos (eternally indebted to Sergio for taking the best ID photo I have ever had in my life!) for an International Drivers Permit, I was there all of 15mins! I have been a AAA member for 23 years and coming to this office for years. I got free maps and travel books, and purchased maps here. I applied for international driver license, got passport photos and used their notary service...etc. More times than not Greg is at the front when I walk in and services me right away. He goes out of his way to help. Today I was in the office getting my yearly car registration stickers. I had some questions about car title name change. It's not something thedo at AAA but he went out of his way to give me information, explained who to contact, gave me the phone number and web address to go to. I had spun out twice this morning (about 6 am) on my way to work... got stuck in a patch near the ditch, and couldn't get out. The woman asked if I was safe. I assumed yes, because I was somehow out of the way of traffic. She asked if the car would start. I said it would, but I couldn't get anywhere. My car wouldn't drive, it couldn't get traction. She LITERALLY told me 'we don't give tows just because the roads are icy.' .... I asked for clarification twice. And I was just....terrified by the situation I was in, but...beyond shocked. Isn't that why we pay for AAA? To rescue us when we're stranded? It's 20 in Texas-if that says anything. And I can't move my car...and wiith nothing close to me to walk to for help. I tried 3 different apps to get a ride before my boss GRACIOUSLY got her husband to come rescue me an hour later. ...but I'll never use AAA again.... how can you leave someone stranded in the midst of a winter storm because their car CAN START?? ... I'm sorry...I hate leaving bad reviews. But this still makes me cry. read more

I can barely give this company a one after today. I was waiting from before 11am to 3pm before someone finally showed up to tow my car. Once the driver arrived he stated that he could not tow the car because it was stuck in park and the back wheels were locked. He said he would have to send out another tow truck. I ended up going out of pocked for a private tow truck company. It is now almost 8pm and I have yet to get any follow up from AAA. They have been good in the past but miserably failed today. Sadly I would not rely on them to rescue you if you were in a bad situation. After 18 years its time to drop this company!! read more

I waited for hours for a tow. I signed up for text updates. I got one saying the dipatcher assigned me to a company. After no updates I called several times. Eventually I found out I was never assigned. The next rep decided that since the tow was to Austin, I should use that city even though my location was Lakeway. 4 hours to finally get help. They don't recognize me when I call for emergency service, despite having being the primary account holder, the one who pays the bill and a card with my name on it. When I call the emergency number, it directs me to state I haven't lived in for yours. They don't know what's wrong, have no was to fix it and I have to wait 5-10 business days to speak to a manager. DON'T RELY ON AAA. You could get stuck on the highway while they try to find your paid in full account. I spent two hours on the phone trying to get things fixed. No luck. read more

Everything was perfectly fine with my policy until I called in for help due to Covid and was then informed my police rate had increased by $45 each month. I spoke to 4 different reps and was told to speak to the original agent that signed me up. I left her and her manager endless voicemails and never received a call back. Just had a terrible experience with AAA. I've been thinking about joining, but hadn't gotten around to it. I did yesterday, because I needed road service on my jeep to fix a stripped lug nut. The website says that you have to wait until the next day or pay $35. I signed up yesterday, and called in today, only to be told that there's a 5-day waiting period due to Hurricane Harvey. There's nothing on the website that says that, even now, but customer service tells me I'm out of luck if I live in Texas. I asked them if that means someone in El Paso - 800 miles from Houston - is also out of luck, and was told that they would have to wait 5 days. I don't have a problem with them making people wait. I do have a problem with bait-and-switch sales where they promise service, don't post a notice on their website, and then refuse to do what they promise. What's the point of having their membership if you can't rely on them? Membership cancelled. My first AAA experience was 1-star. read more

My review is about AAA's Roadside Assistance, or lack thereof. It has taken me awhile to post this review, but not only am I still angry about what happened, almost the same thing happened when using AAA in another state recently!! Apparently it doesn't matter where you call them from - they leave you stranded for hours! I stupidly locked my purse (with car and house keys, as well as my phone!) inside my car in the HEB parking lot. I was distracted as it had been a bad day already. Thank you AAA for making it even worse. I used the phone at the HEB customer service center to call AAA. They said they would be there within the half hour. I don't want to miss them, so I go stand outside in the 100 degree heat. For an hour. No AAA. I call again, they have THE NERVE to tell me the tow truck had been there and didn't see me or my car and left!!!! I was literally standing at the entrance, my car was parked in the THIRD spot from the door (aside from the fact that I was watching the entrance to the parking lot the entire time and no AAA truck (or any other towing company's truck) pulled in at any time. They will send someone 'again'. I go wait in the 100 degree heat again. For another hour. I call again. AGAIN, I am told they came and didn't see me or my car (they had the description and license plate and exact parking spot, they had my description, and again - there was no way for a towing truck to enter the parking lot without me seeing them). I explain all this as calmly as I can. They will send someone out again. ANOTHER HOUR IN THE 100 DEGREE HEAT. I call again, and this time I have lost it and am crying. I have no one who can pick me up (or I would have just left the damn car there at this point), my house keys are locked in the car, so I can't even call a cab, bc I can't get in my house. I couldn't pay a cab bc my wallet was locked in the car. If I could get home I couldn't contact anyone bc I don't have a phone line anymore, and - yes - my phone is LOCKED IN MY ****ING CAR!! This is what I explained to the very nice AAA rep in between sobs. I emphasize that I need someone to actually come unlock my car. Did I mention that by this time it is almost 10pm at night? And that I have struck up a friendship with the security guy who came over to make sure I wasn't a terrorist bc I had been standing in one spot for over 3 1/2 hours? So I am told that they are DEFINITELY sending out someone, they're trying to find out what is going on, yadda yadda..... they're very sorry. About a half hour later I FINALLY see an Armada towing truck pulling into the shopping center!!! YEAH!!! It's over!! Right? NO! I watch as this idiot drives right up to WHERE MY CAR IS PARKED and then TURNS to go down an aisle AWAY FROM HEB - AND MY CAR!! How do you miss HEB???!!!! They are all huge stores, and brightly lit. Where the hell was he going???? I run out into parking lot traffic to chase him down, bc if I let him go I wasn't getting out of that parking lot that night. I cancel my auto insurance with aaa already 6 months ago, they still own me $140 I called them more than 10 times everytime I have to explain all over everything and waste 15 minutes talking, they always promise to send me the check with my money but they never do, I called my agent and she also told me that she contacted the main office for that issue and I'm still waiting, I heard that other people have the same issue, seems like aaa trying to keep the money and not refund​ it back, don't know what to do. read more

I have to take time and tell you about an awesome experience I had with AAA. I got off work driving on Mopac during 5 o'clock traffic and all of a sudden I ran out of gas. As I saw my gas gauge as my steering wheel started to get hard right there and then I realized I forgot to pump some gas yesterday. By the grace of God I was able to get to the side of the road during construction that was going on between Enfield and 5th street exit. Once I got to a safe area I called AAA not even five minutes the AAA guy called me that he was 20 minutes away... I had never ran out of gas. The guy got there added gas on my car and off I went. I was downtown not knowing where the closest gas station was... I called him as I noticed he was still behind and asked him... he said. "Ma'am I am right behind you and will be following you to make sure you make it to the gas station." I didn't get the guys name but AAA thanks again! read more

Seriously a joke, my car broke down and I called for a tow at 2 PM they said they would be here at 3, called them at 3:30 and they said 4:00 at 4:15 I called back and they said they had no ETA and a supervisor will call back. Stay away from these vultures. Bought a car auto insurance policy with great fanfare on 01/02/20 from AAA of Texas. It was $2200. I would be charged a surcharge and such after a review of my driving history. That was okay with me. My monthly payment was agreed as $243. 3 weeks later, I get a letter telling me that my premium has been adjusted and it is now $5200 with a monthly payment of $450. No phone, no email - just that notice in the mail. I am in shock and call them up repeatedly leaving messages for the sales agent in question Antonio Credit and his manager Carlton. 4 days later and both of them can't be bothered to give me a return call. I keep calling AAA of Texas and being referred back to these two persons. Someone else finally cancels the auto pay option on my account (or so they claim). I am now making phone calls to a so-called regional manager Darrell Turner who is not returning my calls either. I speak to the carlton fellow and ask for the policy to be cancelled as I am simply tired of AAA rubbish at this point (02/06/20). He said that this is done and today, I awaken to a $450 charge from my checking account. Bait and switch and predatory behaviour. I will NEVER use this company again and broadcast to all and sundry about the type of shady business practices that they routinely engage in. read more

I do not recommend getting AAA FOR TOWING PURPOSES! I locked my keys in the car. AAA said they would be out in 40 minutes. I was at a grocery store and had my 1 year old baby with me and fresh and frozen groceries locked in the car. An hour and a half later they finally came after calling aaa about 3 times. The my sent out a guy from Armada towing. He could not unlock my car door no matter how many times he tried. My electronic mechanism would not unlock when he would get the long metal stick and press unlock, I think it is a security feature on my car. Then he was trying to use it to pull up the unlock knob with no success. I was there with him in parking lot for another hour. After him promising he would get my car unlocked, in the end with him calling his boss and saying he couldn't do it and they could tow my car home. I called another place, they came in about 20 minutes and got my car unlocked in about 5 minutes or less. Unbelievable! This all started around 640pm and I didn't get home til 10 pm I read reviews in Armada towing and have a lot of the same experiences. Seems AAA KEEPS USING THIS SAME COMPANY. People still use travel agents? Yes they do! I have AAA. Did you know that you can utilize a travel agent to book a trip and have them do all the painful dirty work for you? I don't think I paid anything extra, but if I did it was next to nothing and not even noticeable. I recently booked a trip to Mexico through a travel agent. She found us the best dates, the best prices, the best flights, and even booked private transfers to and from the resort. Yes, while everyone else waited to get on a crowded shuttle or bus, we had our own driver included in our trip price. She was very knowledgeable about traveling (obviously she travels a lot!) and was a great resource when attempting to make a decision on where to go. We did lots of emailing back and forth, and I did go in to see her one Saturday morning to finally nail down a spot. Paying for the trip through her was easy, as well as choosing the right travel insurance for us. As someone who does not fly too often, she made sure our flight times gave us enough time to get through immigration and customs. Using a travel agent relieved a lot of stress from planning the perfect trip, with a worry free attitude towards traveling because I knew it was all planned out. read more

I have been paying for AAA for at least 10 years, approx $1500 in total. In that time, I've called them twice and both times were a complete fail. They once left my husband on the Toll Road for 8 hours (not a typo) in 110 degree weather. With every call, they'd say they'd be there in 10 minutes. An hour later, they couldn't find them despite precise directions, or sent the wrong kid of tow truck. It was hard to image such gross negligence. Last night we got a flat driving from Houston to Austin, called AAA and was told they would be there in 45-50 minutes. OK, fine, we'll take some bluebonnet pictures for awhile. We expected to have plenty of time to change the tire (we had the wrong lug wrench or would have done it ourselves) and expected to be done well before dark. Flash forward 2+ hours and no AAA. The tow driver who said he was 10 minutes away said he couldn't find us, despite a very precise location that could easily be found on Google Maps. A few more calls exchanged with AAA suggested we call 911. The emergency services people sent a sheriff about 10 minutes later, who called a local wrecker, who also arrived not longer after. While the replacement tow operator was changing the tire, AAA called again and the smartass agent said they couldn't find us. He seemed to think it was really funny. $80 (including tip) later, and we're on the way. We are now maybe 4 hours into this adventure. At 11pm we get a call from AAA asking what happened. How could they not know after so many phone calls????? My advice is as follows. Skip AAA, don't give them a dime. If you are unfortunate to need roadside service, get out your smartphone and call the nearest provider. It will be faster, and much cheaper in the long run. read more

AAA-Texas is a scam....So I moved from Reno, Nevada where I had AAA for the past 10 years with no problems, yes 10 years with no problems. Any claims were taken care of I had a local agent that was on the money. Happy customer since 2004. Now I'm in Houston and WTF is going on. The roadside assistance is totally different and covers way less than it did in Nevada but it cost more. Again I say WTF. So my policy is up for renewal @ 1697.00 for the year for our 2 vehicles, so I went online to get a new quote and my new quote using the same information from my renewal policy was $500 less than my renewal. Once again WTF. So I called to see why and of course the lady in India, Indonesia, or wherever they are had no clue at all. I know the customer service is not in Texas because I could not understand a word they were saying and I talked to 3 people and no one said Yall. I am done with AAA - Texas. Went to start my car - Click Click Click - after some research had it narrowed down to battery/starter/starter relay - seeing that I am somewhat handy around a car, decided to try and fix it meself... Flashlight in tow, I opened the hood to find that, although I could pick out most of the parts in the engine block, I could not find the battery - but thanks to the internet, determined that it is found UNDER the block, behind my wheel well - Thank the Stars for AAA....except... Called on Sunday morning - after giving up my information, scheduled the person to come late morning; was given a fifteen minute window but no quote on battery (found it online a couple of seconds later) - The technician showed up within the timeframe (that has honestly never happened to me -) Technician asked what the problem, and in my showing him, the car started! HOORAY!! The tech still wants to check (and does). The result: bad battery The BAD - No offer to charge or change battery. Tech's quote: We don't carry that kind of battery - which leads me to this question - The battery is buried (i.e. can't be seen); how would he know what kind of battery he doesn't carry for the vehicle? Granted, I did tell the Customer Service make/model/year of car, but does that mean he came unprepared? Full disclosure: I went to Sears who could narrow the battery down to four based on make/model/year AFTER locating (and presumably pulling) the battery. The REALLY BAD - Tech knows I have bad battery - sees me going into house (meaning I have to shut off car) to make appointment for service - tells me "You shouldn't leave car not running, it may not start again" AND TAKES OFF, leaving me potentially stranded!! - the car however, did start again WHEW! The GOOD - He did suggest I go to Sears. Do NOT have to do this again - next time will use my car insurance roadside assistance read more

Put me on auto renew without EVER asking me or mentioning it or putting it in any printed materials. Then, would not refund me the second membership charge which I never agreed to. If you want to be tricked and swindled and unexpectedly have $60 debited from your account and then have to spend half an hour on the phone to find out what it is, only to be treated rudely and get no refund, then yeah. You should totally sign up. Oh and also, if you call for help, you can expect it to come like three hours later. The part of the company located in the north west is not nearly this bad. I haven't used the AAA towing service (although I note the bad reviews on this page about that). However, I just signed up for a membership with the notion of using their travel agents to book round trip flights to Australia ... 1. their in-house computer system started at over $3K even though their online site prices start at around $2100. That is a major problem. The website offered better pricing (equiv. to Priceline) than in-house, AND it allowed (eventually) the ability to choose seats for 4 of the 6 flights in my round trip itinerary (something that is awfully difficult to accomplish with Priceline or Expedia). 2. I was able to get my international driver licence at their North Austin office without any hassle. They will take the required photo while you are there and issue the license on the spot. (Of course, you need to have a U.S. license already.) 3. The in-house staff are friendly and helpful and THAT is the key thing to know about AAA travel services. In an era of disappearing travel agents, AAA provides personal, HUMAN assistance. Should you sign up if you are planning future travel? Yes, absolutely. 4. And another thing ... travel insurance. I got an excellent deal from the AAA agent, it is from a reliable company they work with all the time, and I have AAA to talk with if I have any problems with claims. P.S. Regarding towing ... the AAA member (not the car owner, not the driver, not a passenger or friend) MUST wait with the car until the wrecker arrives (whenever that might be ...). YOU CANNOT LEAVE YOUR CAR. Medical emergency, dangerous weather, lawless neighborhood, none of that matters. YOU CANNOT LEAVE YOUR CAR AND HAVE THEM PICK IT UP. No security codes, VIN, license plate info, membership info - NOTHING will allow you to leave. In my opinion, that is a major drawback. read more

In 2013 I joined AAA Texas for the specific reason of having coverage for the move from New York to Texas. My trip was uneventful and I did not have cause to call AAA Texas the first year. I considered not renewing my membership because I didn't want to spend the money. Being that I own an older vehicle ( 2005 Silverado with over 100 k miles ) I went ahead and renewed and I'm very happy that I did as I broke down not once, but twice this year ! In July my battery failed as a result of the Texas heat and I arranged for my truck to be picked up the next morning and towed ( Flatbed ) to the dealership ( Less than 5 miles away ). Last week ( Late October '14 ) I broke down in Austin ( Water Pump ) and AAA Texas had a Flatbed to me within 45 minutes and towed my truck approximately 45 miles to my mechanic in New Braunfels. It is well worth the piece of mind of having AAA and the cost of membership more than paid for itself after the first call for a tow. Both of my experiences with AAA Texas have been positive and I would recommend becoming a member especially if you own an older vehicle and live in the very large state of Texas. read more

Roadside Assistance is a thing of the past with AAA! I was stranded for about 4 hours this week in 100 degree temperatures! I can remember when AAA was fantastic but no longer. They told me it would be 1 1/2 hours when I called. Luckily I had someone who could pick me up so I didn't have to sit in the hot sun. They told me they would text me updates. They sent one text with a link to a website that tracks the progress. I checked the website and it did not change. "Estimated arrival 2:54". I went back to the car about 10 minutes early to make sure I did not miss them. At 3:54 I checked the website again it still said 2:54!!. I called several times and was told 10 mins. Then 25...then I was told it had been picked up!!! I told them I was looking at the car and NO WRECKER. The car was finally picked up over 2 HOURS AFTER THE 11/2 hour wait time!! I asked several people to have a manager call me. It has been 48 hours. I am still waiting. When you look them up on facebook, they are proud to say they have better discounts on movie tickets compared to competitors. read more

The WORST insurance company and/or business i have ever experienced in my life! Zero stars. They are screwing us on the repairs to our vehicle After one of their members almost killed my fiance and daughter in a head on collision. Had to call and email for days before they would even try to get us a rental car. The agent and the supervisor would not return any of our messages. Finally had to contact customer service to talk to them, and when i did "Jared" was a total narcissistic asshole. He talked to us like we we're below him and tried to tell me we had to use their authorized body shop. Texas state law says I can have my car repaired wherever I want. The man completely lied to us. Great ethics and professionalism. No adjuster came to look at the car. They insisted the shop send them pictures so they can write the estimate from their office. The shop said they'd never heard of such a thing, they have adjusters come to the shop all the time. AAA Completely lazy half assed employees. They cut a check for the initial repairs and said submit a supplemental claim for the cost of the destroyed wheel (1) and tire. So more pictures were sent along with an estimate to replace them from the shop. The wheels are custom aftermarket wheels. You can't buy just 1 wheel anywhere. I looked, the shop looked, even called the manufacturer. Literally Only 1 place still sold them and you can only buy a set of 4. So the estimate was for all 4. Those are the wheels I have on my car before the wreck (not our fault) That's what I want when its repaired. Waited for weeks to get the approval for the supplemental claim with no answer. So a month goes by with my car just sitting there waiting for these (AAA) people to do their job. We consistently call and send emails trying to get updates. Nobody ever calls us back. No return emails. all of a sudden enterprise starts calling the shop asking when the car will be done. Then AAA starts calling asking when it will be done. Next thing I know my fiance gets an email from asshole jared saying they have denied our claim and we need to turn in the rental car TODAY. What?!? How is that possible. My car isnt fixed, its not at all driveable with a broken wheel and over $3000 worth of damage to the front end. So now i have to give the rental back? Id rather have my nice car back rather than this pos rental anyway, but How am I supposed to get to work and get my kids to school? These people clearly don't give a Damn about that. They say they will only pay for one wheel. Well, I cant get just 1 wheel!!! What am I supposed to do with that money? I cant buy a new set with that little. So am i supposed to buy 1 different one and drive around looking trashy? So we are both calling literally ALL DAY LONG. About 4 pm I get a call from the shop. They say the supervisor (anita) called up there being extremely rude to the receptionists and to the service writers. Then anita calls my fiance and literally screams at her for about 10 minutes saying its is our responsibility to send everything to get the claim going, to call and make arrangements, to "stay on top of the shop" to make sure our repairs are being done, etc... How is it our responsibility? First: Isnt that YOUR JOB!!! Second: hoe dare you scream at my fiance or ANYONE for that matter. My fiance was literally crying because she is an incredibly sweet woman. Whe was just trying to explain and talk to this woman who displayed The most OUTRAGEOUS example of extreme unprofessionalism I have ever experienced in my life. We Didn't ask for medical, mental, emotional, or any other compensation. All we want is to have our vehicle restored to the condition it was in prior to the accident caused by their member. Thats not unfair. Its not unjust. But for some reason AAA thinks it's ok to treat people like garbage and take advantage. At this point im done dealing with these people. I have been with AAA for over 5 years. I have purchased all my batteries from them to ensure I can get the service. We use them for all towing and just a piece of mind when traveling. Up to this point the service has been great. Until now! I had a battery fail that I purchased from them. I called at aprox 3pm to get a battery replacement. Went through the traditional steps and was told I would be dispatched someone who would come out and test it and if bad replace it. Well someone showed up about 2 hours later, tested the battery, confirmed it was dead and under warranty....but had no batteries. So on to #2. Called back, told them what happened, and that I had to have someone come back later in the evening because I had to head back to work. They said no problem and would set a window of 6-7pm. Fine, about 30 mins later I get a call from a service man who is at my house ready to replace the battery. I am not there, so now the guy has to leave because I am not there and I have to start over..sooo I call again, schedule a service, for asap which is 2 hours. I am waiting for the next service guy and he calls after 90 mins and says he does not have a battery for my Toyota. So now I have to call back again. The CSR tries to book me with the same guy who just called and said he did not have a battery. I tell them he just called and I need a different service tech who actually has my battery. She schedules it and says 90 mins. Ok I am waiting, 90 mins goes by...nothing. I call back, no service call is in the system. So now I am pissed. It is almost 830, I ask to talk to the manager. ON HOLD I GO! I also need to get a battery so I can go to work the next day. So while I am on hold I drive to Walmart, get the battery, pay for the battery, drive home with the battery and install the battery ALL WHILE ON HOLD. The "manager" finally gets on the phone. I tell her this entire story and she says all she can do is send a reimbursement form. WHATEVER! I tell her that not only is AAA going to pay for my battery, they are also going to pay for 2 years of my membership or I am going to but a negative review on Yelp for a full 365 days. We have been AAA loyal customers for over 20 years - absolutely everything was insured with AAA - from cars to houses to life insurance. Now after paying our house insurance for years and never filing a claim for anything AAA is canceling our insurance due to California wildfires. What? We are welcome to pay for insurance inly when there is 100% chance we won't use it? Shameful and disgusting of AAA!!!! This should not even be legal!!! What a scam! Well, we will be transferring our cars insurances and our life insurances to a different company as well and never deal with AAA. I will even never use my AAA travel agent. After making tons money of people, AAA will NOT be there for you, when you actually need them. What a shame of a company! read more

I'm actually not surprised of my experience thus far after reading the reviews about how horrible their service is when you actually need them! They are fantastic as long as you are paying them. I called 7 days ago to make a claim because my car was stolen! I have yet to speak to anyone about my claim. I've called every day, sometimes twice a day, even tried to speak with the manager. No one is available. WOW, is really all I can say. I'm so disappointed in them at this point. This is completely ridiculous. read more

AAA makes it very difficult to switch to another company, if you decide to do so after a year or so of being with this company. I have been trying for 3 days to get 'Declaration Pages' and a copy of a paid receipt, which my new Insurance Company needs. AAA is dragging their feet and not cooperating. If you decide to ever switch, you'll have to go through this as well, because AAA does not 'report' their claims like most insurance companies do, which boils down to; the new company can't call and get the information they need: so you have to provide it for them. Seems simple enough, but not if AAA doesn't want to give you the information you need! I am into it for 2 phone calls, three emails, and still can't get a simple copy of our last paid receipt! read more
