If you own a home or business in Central Texas, you should seriously consider Watkins as your insurance agency. Not all agencies are created equal. The Watkins Group in an independent agency which means that they work for you rather than any insurance company. If you ever have a loss, this is when the value shows up. They handle the claim and you get the money back that you should get. My policy also includes mechanical breakdown coverage so I don't need a separate home warranty from another company. A few year's back, I had to have my HVAC system replaced. My out of pocket cost was $500. I highly recommend this agency. read more

Approaching Watkins Insurance Group was the most horrific insurance experience I've ever had in over four decades of insuring homes, automobiles, and businesses. First, they had two different people get back to me, at the same time. So they are clearly disorganized as far as intaking leads. Second, the person I ultimately spoke with was incredibly slow in getting back to me about each request. It was like pulling teeth to get a reply. Last, when he did finally reply, the answer was that I was being rejected for an insurance policy because of a $200,000 insurance claim we had several years ago. I've never had an insurance claim, ever. Not for $1. So that shows they can't even do their research properly. It was the worst customer experience I've ever had related to the insurance industry. read more

I just want to let everyone know what great service the team of Watkins provides. I have been a customer for over 10 years and have had a few interactions. They have reviewed my policies annually and assured me that I am doing great with both my auto and homeowners. When I had a few small claims, they helped me navigate those issues and they were resolved quickly and to my satisfaction. Most recently, I realized I was being double-billed for my homeowners policy (not Watkins fault - really an issue between my lender and the insurance provider. And me because I didn't pay attention.). But Watkins took the responsibility of solving the issue and and communicated with me, the lender, and the insurance provider to resolve this and to get me refunded what I over paid. India Galloway was proactive on updating me on the status of the issue and how it was resolved so I didn't have to follow up with anyone. That is great customer service! I know it's easy to be impressed with funny commercials and gimmicks. But nothing compares to real customer service when you need it. I've been using Watkins Insurance for about, oh 6 years now and all I've got to say is Mary Mother of Jesus! These guys are phenomenal!!! They started out insuring my home and auto and then I bought a Vespa scooter and all I did on the day I bought the scooter was call and give them the basic information and voila, my scooter insurance was done. Then I bought an RV, same thing, I called w/ basic information and voila, RV was insured. I've since sold my scooter and when I did, guess what? I just called Amy over at Watkins and voila, my scooter insurance was cancelled and I got a pro rated check in the mail. Oh my gosh, I mean seriously how easy can it be! I have happily referred them to my clients as well and everyone has been amazed at how great Watkins is. I'll come right out and say it, if you have insurance w/ a SF or ALL ( you know who I mean) then you are paying way to much and probably getting not so great service. I've had at least two of my clients who have asked me about insurance because they were not getting what they needed from these other insurance companies and now they are happy Watkins customers :-) One other thing I particularly like is when my policy is up for renewal I'll get an email or call from them letting my know they have checked for better rates and will advise me if I need to stay or change to get a better deal. Okay folks, this company goes above and beyond! My car insurance just renewed and Megan at Watkins called to tell me that she noticed (as did I) that my policy went up quite a bit. She asked for my permission to look for a better policy. Not only did she find a better, more affordable policy, we discussed changing my deductables on a few things. The lowere deductables made the new policy comparable to the previous, less expensive policy. If you are looking for a local insurance company for car and home, try Watkins. Very disappointed. I was with them for years and got a new rep recently. They were switching over websites and an invoice payment didn't process (even though I paid in the portal) and the agent didn't bother to let me know there was an issue or contact me about it. I have been with the same insurance company for the last 10 years. I was looking for quotes for my auto and home insurance from other companies and that's when I came across Watkins on Yelp. I left a message and got a call back from Amy Wilkie. She got my info and responded with quotes from several different companies at the same time. We were able to pick the one with best coverage which is also least expensive. She went an extra step to compare my current coverage to the new one and made sure I didn't loss any coverage. She made sure I got all the discounts. My annual premium for the auto went down by more than a thousand dollar and the home premium went down by three hundred. That is a huge saving! I talked to a woman named Joy Roberson. She was totally rude and unprofessional to me. She spent the first five minutes of our call upset because I was referred to Watkins by another insurance company, and she was trying to find out the name of the person who referred me so she could call him and let him know they wanted bigger business referrals not just small ones like me - instead of being grateful for the referral and my potential business. Unbelievable. I own a small business and just wanted a liability insurance quote. It made me feel horrible. It's hard enough running a small business and to be treated like that was really demeaning.
