He delayed, beginning and eventually would show up after 1 p.m. in the afternoon, usually later. His regular workday is about 4 hours average. He was 21 weeks into this project of 4 1/2 weeks and all I have to show for all my time and money is a shoddy looking shell of blocks that aren't even up to my porch level where the fireplace was to be installed. He constantly lied about showing up making up all kinds of excuses. DO NOT HIRE THIS PERSON AS A MASON. He has no idea what he's doing. He should have admitted he was over his head and refunded my money. But, instead, he kept all of the money and simply walked off the job. Before he quit, he had me order nearly $1,300. worth of building materials to finish the job. Instead of showing up, he quit answering text and calls. Now I have 5 pallets of building materials going to waste sitting in the weather. This is the person he is. You have been warned.

Update on my review of 11/15/2024…read more The General Manager, James, came to look at my complaint and agreed that there was a need to work out a solution. We came to an agreement on helping rectify the issue and they are coming out to do additional work at no charge. I appreciated their interest and concern.

Six years ago, during the process of purchasing our home, we encountered a serious issue: the…read moreproperty we fell in love with had foundation problems. In order for our lender to approve the mortgage, the foundation needed to be repaired. We selected AFS to perform the repairs because they offered a lifetime warranty on the home's foundation--an assurance that gave us peace of mind. The initial repairs were completed, and we were issued a lifetime warranty. The bank approved the loan, and we purchased the home. Two years later, we noticed that cracks on both the front and back of the foundation appeared to be worsening. We contacted AFS, who came out, confirmed the deterioration, and proceeded to tear down the drywall in the basement on the front side of the house. They installed more large metal reinforcement strips--the same as what was done during the original repair. However, per their policy, they did not replace the drywall or clean up any of the resulting mess. We were left to hire another contractor to rebuild the walls and restore the area. Two more years passed, and once again, we observed worsening cracks. We reached out to AFS, who initially attempted to charge a service fee for their visit. After reminding them of the lifetime warranty, the fee was eventually waived. Upon inspection, they confirmed the issue was indeed getting worse. This time, however, they stated that they would not perform any further repairs, claiming that the original payment ($10,000) only covered the amount of work already done and that additional repairs would not be included. We argued that the warranty explicitly covered the foundation for the lifetime of the home, regardless of the initial cost. We were ultimately refused further assistance. At this point, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and included AFS in the correspondence. Within 20 minutes, a manager from AFS contacted me, offering to help resolve the issue. Following this, AFS returned and proposed a more aggressive repair: tearing down the basement walls yet again, installing large steel beams, and anchoring rods into the ground from the exterior--requiring the driveway to be torn up in the process. They assured us this would permanently stabilize the foundation. While the driveway was repaired, we were again left with extensive interior damage, and for the third time, we paid out of pocket to restore the basement walls. Now, two years later, we are once again facing shifting in our foundation. AFS again attempted to charge a service fee. After inspection, their technician confirmed that while the front of the house is stable, the back is sinking--a concern we previously raised when they were last on-site. We were explicitly told then that stabilizing the front would protect the entire structure. When I asked for clarification, the technician confirmed that our home is essentially splitting in half and could eventually slide down the hill into the creek. However, they now claim the warranty only applies to the specific wall where the original repairs were made--not the foundation as a whole. This contradicts the lifetime foundation warranty we were promised at the outset. (And was the only reason we were even able to get the loan to purchase the home in the first place) After six years, three major repair efforts, and repeated assurances that our home's foundation was secured, AFS is now refusing to honor the warranty they provided. We are left with a structurally compromised home and few options. To any homeowners considering foundation repair: please be warned. Our experience with AFS has shown that their warranty may not provide the protection you are led to believe it does. They have applied temporary fixes and walked away, leaving us with mounting costs and a home that may ultimately be unsafe.

She too paid this man upfront and only 1/2 the job was completed, the attic. The crawl space was never completed. She had called and called to no avail. I found a letter she wrote that was returned cause he apparently knew what he had done. In the letter I found her stating, I trust you will eventually do the right thing. He never did. I would not trust this company, be aware do your research. All I can say is, how can you sir sleep at night knowing how many hard working people you have wronged. Apparently my late mother was not the first and unfortunately will not be the last.

Donny started our job, took our money, and did not finish the job. His first explanation was that he got covid. We were very understanding (we had it ourselves and know how long it can last). We gave him two months before calling him back to ask when he was gonna finish the job only to be told they were busy with other jobs. We continued to call and text daily to no avail and to many many excuses that didn't even make sense. We also caught him in mistruth after mistruth. The company that finished our job also told us that they have to come in behind him on jobs he started and didn't finish all the time. He also tried to guilt us into paying for equipment that his crew blew up when they used a generator that they apparently didn't know how to use. What? Worst experience with a subcontractor ever.
