I do all my DMV things here because there's usually 0 line. That being said you do have to be a member which costs money but not having to ever wait in DMV lines is worth the cost to me alone! They also have maps for basically everywhere you could want to go as well as people to help plan trips and get deals for you. Very slow service on RENTERS INSURANCE. Have to admit that they did finally pay my claim, after over a month. The thing that I was not aware of, was AAA outsources it's claims adjusters....in other words, the adjusters make their living by NOT paying you. Nothing is local or even in this state, so forget the personal touch you were hoping for....all communication is via voicemail, fax, text & on a lucky day you might get to talk to your adjuster. You can pretty much forget asking any questions.....your job is to answer them.......My adjuster even wanted me to fill out her Excel spread sheet.......fortunately I have a Mac & couldn't accommodate :-) So, I'd suggest shopping around....I'm going to....they may be all the same...not sure yet :-/ read more

In the last 3 years of having AAA for auto insurance, I now have my home owner and life insurance with AAA. Quotes are the best, Customer service is the best. Every inquiry I have had over the years has been addressed in the most professional manner. Patrick is my dude! I can email him a question and know he will respond promptly. If i ever need to talk to customer service I do not deal with "press 1 for this...9 for this" for an hour. I talk to a knowledgeable person trying to find me a solution or an answer. BEST. read more

This review is not about the office, but the AAA roadside assistance service and I do not see a listing about that, so I will have to put the updated review here. Had a need for roadside service on a dark mountain road. As a new member and needing roadside assistance, I called the number and was met with a large list of options, but eventually got to speak to a live agent. The experience was good. The agent took the time to call back, ask me if I still needed the roadside assistance and status me on the availability of the driver. The wait time estimate for roadside assistance was long (100 minutes for the driver's arrival. In that time, I was able to fix the car myself and get back on the road and cancelling my roadside assistance. I've been a member of AAA for a few years now... I needed a motorcycle manual for a class that I am taking. Well, I got excited to take a vantage of all of the great perks that AAA talks about instead of having to go to DMV. I called this morning and asked if they had the booklets in both English and Spanish. The lady on the phone said do you mean the regular driving book? I said no I'm looking for the Motorcycle handbook, she responded and said I think it's all one, I responded and said no it is not. She then transferred me to another lady at AAA who told me they don't have them in Spanish but they have plenty of English ones. I walked into AAA five minutes later, and the lady tried to hand me the regular driving book, I said no I was looking for that motorcycle when I just called... she said they have never heard of the Motorcycle handbook? I walked away very disappointed and went to DMV to pick up my motorcycle handbook. Used AAA for a battery replacement and the driver made an honest mistake and didn't give me the member price ($25 overcharge). Drove to AAA office in Gilroy to seek a refund. Elena told me I needed to deal with the tow service for the refund but their information is not on the invoice and she didn't provide it. When I baulked at that idea Dee Dee came and told me nothing could be done today because the manager Javier wasn't in. Dee Dee was dismissive and obviously didn't want to help. If you can't conduct regular business without the manager present then you should just close the office. I've been a member since 1980 and pay for Premium membership but there was zero willingness and/or knowledge to help me. It's not worth another 30 mile round trip to recover the money. read more

Overall bad customer service with total towing unit. I called ahead and made a schedule to tow. Non emergency and was at their convenience. Gave vehicle description etc and was told roughly 60 minutes for my tow, awesome. I waiting 90 minutes before I decided to call back and question where the driver was. The First lady I spoke (Marianne) to was very nice, polite and helpful. However, Troy on the phone was not. After being told the tow truck had stopped by and said he would not tow my car I was already annoyed. 1. NO ONE showed up to my house to even say they would tow my car. 2. Troy said his driver Mark had done so and obviously lied. Clearly they either pick and choose their toes or just don't care about some? I've had previous tows take up to 2 hours but that didn't matter, at least I got towed. Now that Troy has his driver lying to him, he calls my situation "sketch" because I requested a particular driver which I know does a good job. If someone's extra careful with your car wouldn't you want the same person to do it again? But since I requested the person it was sketchy to Troy for whatever reason. He did opt to send another driver but I decided not to wait another hour or so and have someone not show up again. Seriously second guess yourself if you need a towing service such as this one, since they'll stand you up. State Farm and other insurance policies have much better towing coverage. read more

So my husband and I went here to purchase our Santa Cruz boardwalk tickets. I had a feeling we should have just purchased them online, but we were right next to the office so decided to go in anyways. Behind the computers they have a paper sign in all caps that says PLEASE HAVE YOUR MEMBERSHIP ID AND PHOTO ID READY. I explained what I wanted to do and she did NOT ask to see my information which I had out ready to go. She started taking my information and she asked for my address and when she repeated I didn't hear her clearly and she ended up putting the wrong number for address. When she printed it out for us I saw the wrong address and told her. She said "Well there's nothing I can really do now." I explained how I was concerned. We spent 94 dollars on the boardwalk passes and it would be such a inconvenience to get there and they don't accept it because of a simple mistake. She walked away and got a lady who was sitting down in the cubicles. She came up and said "They should accept it, I can call and ask." I told them about the sign about asking for my ID and this could have been prevented if she would have asked for my ID instead of verbally. The lady said "That's for DMV insurance customers only." This was defensive and was inappropriate. Any person that has good coming customer service would have said. You know your right! I apologize for this inconvenience. I did not get an apology! I will NOT be going into the office again. My suggestion is to do everything online. read more

They have AMAZING deals but their service at this place is kinda EH. It's a hit or miss. One day I'll go in to pay for my parents and there's a LOOONG LINE with only one teller (even though I see someone else back there)! Or sometimes the other employees sitting in their cubicles come up to me and actually helps me because they're allowed to access their server with what I need to get done. It surprises me a lot though that when you walk in, it looks like no one is there! The place is SO HUGE with all these wall dividers, etc that it looks like a ghost town. While @ check-in desk there was a heavy-set clerk with long black hair closes to the window, She thought texting was much more important that the customers. Entire time while with one & before she called up the next one, she made it her priority to finish this conversation by text. I Love AAA!! Our car was totaled at 2 a.m. Christmas morning as we slept by a hit and run driver. We were payed more than we expected and it was all said and done painlessly in 2 weeks!! Was there again after purchasing registration for my husbands truck and was informed that he would have to pick up the stickers and that it needed to be smogged, ok. Did that,returned and had my husband come with me after smog the person who "helped" us was so rude that I was shocked beyond speaking. She told me that all she wanted to know was whether it had been smogged or not inviting no further response & further informed me she could not be expected to remember something from 3 days ago when I made no mention beyond the fact that I'd brought the smog certificate . Absolutely the worst experience there to date. To be scolded by someone in customer service well, I worked in service for a long time all the while assuming curtesy was the way to treat any n all customers well,this wretched woman is without a doubt the worst person I dealt with anywhere. This rating is not geared towards any offices, but AAA insurance in general. Where do I begin..... I finally got the chance to write this review and express how dissatisfied I am with this insurance. For being a loyal customer for over 10 years I would at least expect some assistance as a member. Our RV broke down in the middle of the desert at 6am. I called AAA member services and they said our membership didn't cover. I was furious! Stuck in the cold in the middle of no where with two young children and AAA said that they cannot do anything except provide a number to the nearest tow truck. Yes, we paid $210 out of our own pocket...even after paying more than 10 years worth of membership payment and only used the roadside service once. Did I mention I didn't need a tow. One tire busted. All we need was to borrow a jack so we can replace the punctured tire with a spare. $210 just to change the tire! I have my house, two cars and the RV insured by AAA. You would think AAA would mention.."by the way, you need to upgrade your membership if you want to cover the RV." Instead they would rather collect your money and hope you will never need roadside assistance. I was ready to cancel my membership and insurance right then and there! Unfortunately everything has already been paid. I'm never late on payment. Should have stuck with State Farm. I guess I better find an alternative insurance company. read more
