I have been a AAA member for longer than most people have been alive. I used their towing service and dead battery jump multiple times. Now I have a Halo for when I do stupid battery stuff. Given all of that, prolly the best service here has to do with the DMV window. Seriously, who wants to go to the DMV????? Not me unless I have to!!!! It's awesome to walk in and pay and get tags on the spot instead of via the mail where they miraculously never make in my mailbox. Thinking postal employees always have current tags. Just asking, not accusing. Recently I have been trying to register an old utility trailer I found at the ranch I used to run under a broken down cottonwood tree after my mom passed away and my brother and sister inherited the place. It hadn't been on the DMV roles for over 25 years. I also had to get off thr title on a 1970ish VW van I realized I was still on with my now adult daughter. I don't need that liability on my resume!!! Every employee that I've came into contact with has been courteous, informative, and helpful. I love how the employees always try their best to help me out and figure out how I can pay for services without drowning in fees. The location is nice, clean, and is very kept up. I visited this location today with my wife to take care of some DMV-related work. We waited patiently in line for about 15 minutes. When we were finally called up, [[HIGHLIGHT]]the representative refused to assist us simply because the AAA membership is under my wife's name and not mine.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We explained that we've both been under the same AAA insurance since 2010, and that she is my wife. Despite this, the staff member insisted that I would need to pay an additional $14 to open a separate membership just to be helped. After decades of paying my premiums, on two houses, I experienced a loss. The clowns with aaa provided zero guidance or assistance. They were petty and very unprofessional in dealing with me. Yesterday I called for AAA to come help me with my car, the ETA was 1 hour away and I messaged the guy multiple times wondering where he was and got no answer. 2 hours go by with no response still, so I called them again and said I want to cancel my membership and they got the tow truck to me within 10 minutes. This is ridiculous. I shouldn't have to say that I'm canceling my membership to get service. This is also currently happening today as well. The guy who came by to supposedly fix my tire only added air regardless of me saying that my tire needed to have the spare tire put on. I told him the tire doesn't hold air and he didn't listen. Didn't fix my tire at all. The time frame is happening again. Told 45 minutes, and it's been over 1 hour and 15 minutes with no response or no show still. This is ridiculous. After losing my mom last year, my car's registration and smog requirements completely fell through the cracks. It wasn't until I realized my registration would've been due in March and I saw nothing from DMV, that I remembered I never completed last year's smog. After getting some very expensive work done at the dealership, I drove to a local smog shop who informed me it wouldn't pass because the battery had been reset too soon. I needed to run my car for longer. After grabbing lunch, I had an instinct to go to AAA. I didn't even eat my lunch. I walked in to a very clean and professional office. I signed in, realized I left my DMV paperwork in the car, went back to get it, walked back in and sat down. A gentleman named Lance called my name within two minutes. I briefly explained my situation, and Lance got to work. He explained I would just need to pay the registration fees for this year and I could get my smog later. No problem! Before I knew it, he was asking a coworker how to reverse penalties on my registration! That alone was amazing and I'm so grateful that he did that without me even knowing of the fees or asking. I paid and everything got tied up quickly. Lance was giving me last minute tips and pointers, then took the time to make a joke that made me authentically laugh and smile. Their Notary service is horrible. AAA offers free or discounted notary service for members. I went to the branch and even though there was no other customers, the notary guy, Angel, said we needed to call to make an appointment. So we stood outside and called...209-824-6108 and he just stared at us and didn't answer the phone. So I left a message and asked if we can schedule an appointment. Then walked up to him and asked if we can schedule an appointment. He said leave a message. A week later and still no return call. What a joke? Went for passport application services offered to members. They upcharged on top of my membership and NONE of the documents they helped fill out were accepted by the passport office. They were very specific that it was unrefubdable. The passport office (not disclosing where so AAA can't sue them) said that this always happens with AAA and people always have to start over. Big ripoff, very dishonest at this office. Will not renew membership, they quoted me literally 4 times the amount another agent sold me auto insurance for, I haven't needed towing in years but it's fair to assume that has gone downhill as well. Other auto insurance agents offer roadside coverage for less. Also face it, the AAA discounts aren't worth it, you can easily find better discounts online these days without paying for a membership. read more

I came to this branch for the first time about a month ago. Looks like they have all their procedures in order, in terms of social distancing and sanitizing. I noticed that every client that got up, the agent would come out of their booth and sanitize the chair. Very professional and very comforting knowing that they take this very seriously. As for the experience, it was absolutely a pleasant one. I came in to renew my registration and let me tell you, that process was so quick and painless. I don't think I ever want to go to the DMV ever again. I swiped my card to pay my fees and BAM, they printed out my registration and my STICKER RIGHT THEN!! I bought a new car and went there to get title transfered to my name. The seller had accidentally put a different date on it so he crossed it off and rewrote it. The lady I dealt with, wish I knew her name looked agitated from the start and said that the date is an issue and kept saying there are two many mistakes on the bill of sale. On the Registration it self it had the correct date and I had only got the car one day before so she asked me to drive back 2 hours to San Mateo and get a new bill of sale. I instead drove to the Modesto branch who took care of it right away without any issues. Manteca branch is 5 mins from my house but they made me drive 30 minutes to get it done for absolutely no reason. Never going back there again. read more

Just cancelled my AAA after 28 years of membership. When I needed them most, they let me down and I was a gold member. I can't imagine how they treat others. My car is still 65 miles away and somehow I need to figure it out. At least I have an extra $100 to do it with now that I've cancelled my membership.
