Be aware, if you pay in advance you cannot get a prorated refund when you want to cancel due to their inadequate service. I did not read the terms close enough, but hopefully this helps someone make the choice to avoid this company. I ordered a tow after breaking down on a major highway and waited over two hours during rush high traffic on the day after Christmas 2025. I needed another tow on March 30 2026 and again waited over 2 hours. No associate I spoke with told me the truth when I first asked a question, I had to ask multiple clarifying questions in order for them to truthfully tell me anything. We also needed to order a jumpstart for a dead battery, and instead of letting us know they were prioritizing emergency services at the moment (which is understandable), we had to call after 4 hours to find out any status on our service. It is subpar service and I have never talked to a single associate that has been straightforward and honest on the first ask. Instead, I recommend adding roadside coverage through your auto insurance. You will get faster service so that you are safer on the road not depending on AAA to come to help, because they already have your money they do not have to prioritize service. read more

Will not ever use there services again to purchase an auto insurance policy. Just purchased a new policy through a new broker at a significant lower cost and am having trouble getting the policy AAA signed me up for last year canceled. Confirmed 2a form was sent by my new broker so it should have been taken care of by now. Auto insurance coverage in Massachusetts is already a nightmare and they already have the highest rates in the country. Now stuck with 2 policies but refuse to pay on the one that was supposed to be canceled. I was in an accident and the State Trooper called a tow service. I had to pay for the service and to have my car released had to pay in full. I submitted a claim and was denied for two reasons. First reason was I did not call AAA and I explained to them why I didn't. Second was the invoice did not have a paid stamp on it. I spoke with the rep and told her that No towing company is going to release your car unless you pay full balance. She was no help at all and didn't seem to care. She was working remote and I got the impression I was bothering her. So, instead of continuing to bang my head against a brick wall i surrendered. Received 4-page mailing offering 50% off plus 2 additional "free" drivers good until 12/31/2025. On the website I selected the top Premier plan @ $79.50 and on the payment screen after entering the discount code on the printed mailing the website attempted to charge another $92.00 for the second driver. I called and was told the $79.50 was the discounted price and the representative would process by phone. That is not what the mailing indicated. 50% off of $79.50 is $39.75! AAA owes me money for auto withdraws that were fraudulent. After 5 days of trying to talk to the right agent, someone at this corporate office tells me that they will reimburse me. I receive a check with an amount much lower than what I am owed. I call again and they tell me that they made a mistake and will send another check. More days pass and I receive a check with a lower amount. I am now working on getting a third check and, of course, I am being transferred from person to person... AAA is like a scam. We're trying to get to service for a tow. it takes forever for tow truck. They Need of information from you and take a long time. Until the cop comes over and the tow for me. AAA Northeast has been one of the worst insurance and roadside assistance experiences I've ever had. Despite having automatic payments enabled, I repeatedly received cancellation notices for "non-payment." Customer service is chaotic: endless transfers, no accountability, and no real solutions. When I finally canceled, they sent a delayed bill months later and threatened collections, claiming they "failed to debit" the policy. Sales promises do not match reality. Opened a service request through app on my phone for a tow. The app said it will update when request has been assigned. It said 1hr 41mins. No update to the app. I called after the time indicated. Tow company should call you soon. No calls from anyone. I called AAA again and they said that everyone is busy so i have to wait. I purchased a battery from them in December. It supposedly has three year warranty. The battery failed in August. They refused to honor the warranty, even though my car passed the alternator and all other tests. Their "test" also said the battery was fine. Bringing the battery to a charging station would "void" the warranty they wouldn't honor anyway. So, I had a dead battery with a warranty AAA NORTHEAST would not honor, and would void for recharging. What could be better than that that? All this after being a member since 2008, and NEVER using their benefits until December 2024. FIND ANOTHER WAY to receive roadside service support. Find another roadside assistance company, they will NOT have your back! My car broke down in NYC and AAA dispatched a locally contracted garage, 54th Street Auto Care, to handle the tow. My car is an AWD and must be either flatbed or dollied -- any experienced garage knows this. Instead the car was dragged 15 miles which totally destroyed the drive train to the tune of ~$6K in resulting repairs. I called aaa northeast to get my daughter's car towed. I was told it would be about an hour. 5 min later I got a text from 270-benny m. from priority 1 towing saying he was out front. He was professional and personable all while working in the constant drizzle. He took caution putting my daughters car on & off the flatbed. I followed him to my mechanics shop where he dropped the vehicle in a proper parking spot carefully again as to not damage her vehicle, said our goodbyes, still in the rain! Buyer beware - Bait & switch pricing. During the first week of April, I contacted AAA for a price on Auto insurance. They replied back with pricing of $3751. I signed their contract and paid this price in full. A few weeks later, I received a notice in the mail that due to AAA's "mistake" in applying a discount criteria, I owed them $660 additional payment. I had already canceled my other car insurance which was cheaper than this 'new' total price they were trying to charge me. This is clearly fraudulent practices and bait/switch pricing. I asked that this be reviewed by management and they are not honoring their original quoted price, despite the contract in place that was signed. I am not going to write the exact story for my last three AAA calls over the past 2 years, but will give you a quick synopsis: 1) Tow driver tried to extort me to pay him extra cash to have car towed because he was busy and I would be waiting much longer if I called AAA back for another truck. 2) I needed a battery replaced, paid AAA for the battery onsite and installation. The car ended up dying 2 days later because they installed battery incorrectly, and left their tools on the engine block. Thankfully was able to fix. 3) This past Friday I needed a tow and called at 5 pm. They tow was cancelled, reassigned to different companies and given false pick up times at every turn. I waited 4+ hours for a tow. The driver tried the key start of course it didn't start, that's why I called AAA. He didn't try to jump it, the problem turned out to be the battery. I was told, by AAA that a tow driver doesn't jump, that has to be done by a roadside assistant. Kenneth M Tracy Jr. contacted me about inspecting my car for damaged caused by AAA. My catalytic converts were damaged beyond repair. When he arrived at the seen he seemed under the influence of some drug, i tried speaking with him and he was not responding. I showed him the damage to the car and notified him the car is rendered inoperable. He was not interested in the damage or anything I had to show him. When i tried contacting him he was unresponsive. the following day i receive information about my claim. After inspection he decided to call my damage "wear and tear and superficial. Completely ignoring the fact that the car doesn't run. since Kenneth M Tracy Jr. passed on incorrect information while under license number 015650. AAA is not concerned with fighting hunger nor are they concerned when they cause severe damage to vehicles. I was involved in an unfortunate situation rendering my car inoperable. A had AAA tow my car to a local shop to have my brakes fixed. When the car was positioned on the flatbed I noticed there were not blocks to elevate the bed to avoid the bottom of a car like mine scrapping against the ground. As we arrived to the shop the car was removed from the tow truck again without the proper equipment. This time I heard the scrapping but did not think it was anything severe. When I got back in the vehicle I immediately heard this violent rattling coming from underneath the car. I jacked the car up and clearly saw the catalytic converters dented and damaged with scrape marks starting at the end of the catalytic converter which could only happen if the car is going backwards. The internal components were completely shattered, my car wouldn't idle correctly and the O2 sensors couldn't read emissions. I called AAA followed protocol and sent in all supporting videos and pictures. An adjuster came out to inspect the vehicle which I had on a lift. I let him hear the catalytic converters banging and showed him the damage. He seemed very careless and unprofessional. I was told to not fix the vehicle until I heard back. Few days later I receive an email stating they can not take responsibility of the damage because after inspection it was considered "wear and tear and superficial". I now have a car that does not run and thousands of dollars worth of damage. I'm currently waiting on my insurance company. Please be careful with companies like AAA who do not honor their morals. I have been with AAA for about 4 or 5 years. I had decided that seeing how I already had a membership i figured combining auto and rental insurance would bring my bill down, I was wrong, my insurance is extremely high so I'm looking for other companies to provide me with auto and rental insurance and for some reason I was set up for auto renewal with the club and I'm glad I had to change debit cards because they would of taken the fee out a month before expiration witch would of caused every check I wrote to bounce, I do not understand why a whole month in advance for payment when all my other auto renewal services do it either the day before or the day of and send a reminder that they are going to do it and when you don't renew they text, e mail and call multiple times, I got so frustrated that I had asked them do not contact me unless it's an emergency a few days before and what happened, I got woken up at 10:59 am ( I work third shift and another job) when I mentioned that I asked not to be contacted and with the insurance I had to call them 3 times last year to get mailed my insurance paperwork and finally had to ask for them to be emailed to me for proof of insurance for one of my jobs. They sure want their had out to take your money yet don't always provide the best customer satisfaction. I still have not decided to continue with the road side assistance. read more

Shop around there are other companies that offer better road side assistance. If you are a member check your membership details. You pay EVERY month but only get 4 tows per year. The milage doesn't count. They could be 4 1 mile tows & that is all you get. In my case they were 3.1 miles. That's ALL you get. It be worth it if they were 4 100 mile tows but the chances of ever needing that are slim in RI. That would be like 2 trips around the entire state. They've left me stranded more than once. Ive been with them for YEARS. Today I was left to push my car back to the garage. The garage had parked it outside of their property and asked me to come get it. I have a note, I have the keys. I dont owe anyone any money or the car would be in the LOCKED yard. NOT OUT SIDE OF THE CHAINED PADLOCKED GATES! They wouldn't even call the owner. I need letter head apparently. Thank goodness an employee showed up on a Sunday to help me get it back onto the property. INSIDE THE CHAINED PADDLOCKED GATES! Once I get the letterhead my husband who is sick will have to sit there with the car because I've used my "tows" & he hasn't. Better than when they left me stuck in the snow in Exeter with my children. AAA doesn't even offer the gold membership with unlimited roadside assistance/towing. I don't need a passport or any of the other nonsense they offer so it doesn't make sense anymore. At 8:40 last night I tried to start my car, that my grandson would need to drive to URI in the morning. He is an RA for the international dorm and new students would be arriving in the afternoon, The engine did not turn over, and I thought I need a new battery. I called AAA road service and asked if it was too late to get service and a new battery. The person handling my call said he would make the request but did not know if it was too late. He told me I would get a text or phone call confirming if they could, if not the next morning. I was notified by text to have photo ID and membership card ready for the Tech. The next text was from the Tech, Wilson, who said he would arrive in 20 minutes and provided a link to track his progress, I also received a confirmation phone call stating that a tech, Wilson was on the way and was in a fleet truck. Wilson arrived before 9:30 and in 20 degree weather checked the battery, engine belt, and alternator determining that only the battery was bad. In short time working in uncomfortable weather he had replaced the battery, ran my card, and wished my grandson good luck returning to college. He also gave AAA management Kudos for providing the right tools and cold weather warming devices to do his job in winter cold. It was perfect service, from a helpful person answering the call, assuring that we were safe, dispatching the tech, with the correct battery, to a most positive and knowledgeable Wilson. Great experience with AAA this week. Further exceeded expectations than any other service I can remember. Needed to surrender plates & dreaded a White Plains dmv visit. I made online appt for 10 am today, showed up 10 mins early & was on my way with paperwork 9 minutes later! Friendly people, clean office, efficient process. Not used to that at nysdmv!! Went to their drivers ed class... Maybe it was just the teacher, but let me tell you. $5625 is the minimum amount of money that was spent to be in that classroom with 20 something students for basically subpar teaching, but then again what do I know right? Sure it's an accelerated course, but if thats the case its not worth it if you really want to learn. Prepare to spend 3 1/2 hours listening to an instructor drone on and not answer yours or your classes questions. In your total is the cost of renting the "How to Drive" manual. That we never used. You will need a driver's manual for Rhode Island. Which they have photo copies of. Oh and did I mention that the study guides are entirely inaccurate? Anyways it's not all bad I guess. After being an AAA member for over 20 years I am cancelling my membership. In the past two months, I have had two horrific experiences - the first one happened in November 2024 when I ran out of gas on the West Side Highway in NYC. AAA doesn't service incidents/accidents on this highway (and other NYC roadways) due to cost restraints and they had to call an outside towing company to help. Needless to say, it took a lot longer to resolve. The second experience was when I got a flat tire on Interstate 84, northeast of Hartford, CT west bound to NYC on Friday, December 27th. It took AAA nearly 4 hours to get me towed off the busy highway, knowing that I was not safe. Even though the AAA staff was friendly when I called multiple times, (also was hung up on multiple times) they were incompetent and ineffectual in resolving my issue. AAA membership is not worth the money - I am planning to check out a membership with Better World Club, Good Sam, or Allstate Motor Club, or see if my car insurance company offers roadside assistance. read more

Dead car battery! Tried to schedule AAA service online on the app and it says to call. Had to repeat my 16 digit card number FIVE times, then finally get a human that says I have no coverage. App say auto renew, next due 6/14/24. Absolutely will not schedule service until I pay what is due in June. She tries putting it through two times and it comes back declined which is impossible. It's my debit card and there's thousands of dollars in there. So she won't schedule my service so I go on the app and renew it myself with the same card...it goes through and she is amazed. She finally schedules my service and they come out and tell me I need a new battery. Which I suspected. I bought this piece of junk from them 2 years ago so there's 1 year left on the warranty. Nope, they tell me it's not a AAA battery so no warranty. I tell them I certainly did buy it from them and she just keeps saying it's not a AAA battery. So the guy that came here two years ago and replaced the battery was driving a AAA truck, so was he selling batteries on the side that weren't AAA batteries? Ridiculous. So, $260 and 3 hours later I have a new battery. Absolutely unbelievable! So much for warranties. Both on the phone and in person, dumb scammers with horrible attitudes. AAA sucks! read more
