This was by far the worst party rental experience I have ever had. The good: They have an online quote system, which was great! They emailed an invoice the very next morning. I had high hopes. A few of the customer service representatives were really kind and patient. The bad: Everything else. They charged us an extra fee to have the furniture delivered with a specific time ... and then told us they could not narrow down a time. When they finally gave us a time, the young men (very nice) delivered old ragged tables. The tables had tape on them. When I questioned how they look, I was told, "aren't you going to put a tablecloth on it? The ugly: They were supposed to pick up furniture Monday. I called Monday morning to get an estimated time. I was told to call back in a few hours. I called back, got a time, and the company was a no-show. I called back Tuesday for an ETA. I was told to call back in a few hours. I called back, got a time, and the company showed up an hour outside of the window. I called to speak to a manager and the manager couldn't care less about my concerns. She was very dismissive and not apologetic. A simple apology would have gone a long way -- In summary, I do not recommend this company. Rented chairs and tables from AAA that were delivered on Friday. Five of the chairs came without padding and one was two tone, so six were unusable. Found this out on Friday evening and called. Called gain first thing on Saturday morning and even went to the Landover location but they were closed. Had to end up renting chairs from another vendor last minute, which required a 20 chair minimum. Called AAA on Monday and followed up on Tuesday and was told that we had enough time to call them on Friday for them to rectify the problem. Terrible service across the board. They have a "we'll beat any advertised competition policy". I showed the owner a local ad and she said "they rent from us so why would I match their price?" But what does that have to do with anything? Even her employee looked embarrassed at that display of dishonesty. Over a few dollars? Why? Their equipment is old, beat up, and rusty. it's just such a drag going in there. Their paperwork process is unnecessarily slow and tedious. A letter that was sent to the owner: I had an absolutely horrible experience during my rental this past weekend. The half broken bar totally ruined my daughters party! First, I was given the bar with the edging hanging off. Your representative put some screws in it to patch it together. When I got home and tried setting up the bar I realized I was given the bar without the bar skirt. I called the office and it was closed. The next morning I made the 15miles trip to pick it up and NO ONE was there. I waited around the parking while calling other business looking for a replacement when a delivery truck pulled up and I was able to get a curtain from them. During my party, the entire top part of the bar fell on the ground breaking several bottles of liquor and ruining my daughter's backdrop. I am demanding a full refund of the $128.16 I paid for my rental because the liquor bottles that broke was worth more than that. I don't understand how your company could rent a piece of equipment in such poor condition. When discussing the situation with your manager, she said that they usually rent the bar with 2 screws! That's not ok. The bar is made to have 3 screws to be secured safely-I Was given it with 1 screw and she thinks it's ok to rent it with only 2 screws. What if the bar fell over on a child? Your company is not conducting business responsibly and that bar is trash and should not be rented to other customers. I will file a report with the Better Business Bureau to make sure your company is on notice about your negligent practices. read more

Do not use this party rental company. I started speaking to them first thing this morning about renting a tent for a reception after a funeral tomorrow. I spent a lot of time going back and forth with them, responding to questions and even sending pictures of where the tent was to be placed. I provided my credit card information to pay in full. I repeatedly asked for confirmation that they could deliver the tent and every time was told yes. And then in the late afternoon I was told that they cannot provide a tent after all. It is now too late to make other arrangements, so I am going to have a funeral party grieving in the rain. Doesn't get worse than that. read more

I rented a cotton candy machine last minute, the price was high but it was in stock. My normal awesome company Jubilant Entertainment was booked for that item. With all the fees machine rental 91 dollars, comes where 5 cents each. Machine didn't work right because the mix was old and the cone paper stuck together. What a disappointment to the kids. My sister returned all they said was it works now using thier supplies. Try before you by and check dates and make sure cones will separate. Unfortunately all deliveries are handled via the Landover location. Once I was transferred over to the Landover location, everything went down hill. Kiya is the most unprofessional sales associate I have ever had to deal with and I work in this business! I had a delivery for Saturday October 13th and when I called to confirm, Kiya stated that it was moved to Friday the 12th??! Who delivers items at a banquet hall the day before the event? What if someone breaks the glasses before our staff arrives? Mind you the banquet hall had an event that Friday, so our items for 150 people would have been in their way!! I had to jump through hoops and go back and forth with Kiya just to get my items delivered on the day that I request two months ago. I understand that she personally did not make the change, but the way that I was treated and spoken to was very rude, smart mouthed and with lack of care or concern. Pick up was supposed to happen on Monday, I call to find out when they will arrive. Now it will be picked up on Tuesday!! So I have arranged my schedule to fit Monday pick up and no one calls to say it has changed?! I found AAA's prices to be competitive and better than many others in the area. I guess that you get what you pay for. While they fielded my many calls to change my order without complaint and were very nice over the phone, the day of delivery things got dicey. I Had requested a pm delivery SEVERAL TIMES. I called three times to check that we had the PM delivery slot and anytime they called me, I would ask again. I'm persistent but wanted to make sure my boyfriend was there when they set up the tent because I wasn't sure exactly where to have them place it. Anyway, they called at 9:00 am and said they were on the way. I said "but I specifically requested PM delivery." The driver said "well, i'm on my way now and I have other things to do." To which I said "So do I! I'm hosting a party for over 6o people." He just sat there silently so I said okay, thanks and hung up. I called my boyfriend and asked him to contact them because he's more forceful. He called the company, they apologized, said it was a mistake, and sent them back in the afternoon. Setup was fine, they were efficient. Nothing out of the ordinary -- we even tipped them for their hard work. I should mention at this point that we were expecting a HUGE rainstorm just in time for this party. Thunderstorms and rainshowers were about to hit us hard so we were especially relieved that we had planned to have a tent. So, Friday, while we are setting up tables and putting up lights I suddenly notice small holes in the ceiling of the tent. ALL OVER. ALL OVER. Should I repeat? ALL OVER. Tiny holes to fingertip size holes and up. I started panicking. My boyfriend joked that we could tell people it was a planetarium tent. (just to show you how bad it was). We quickly drove to a hardware store, bought white duct tape, and he tried to track down a ladder tall enough. My boyfriend spent approximately 3-3.5 hours taping holes in that tent. HOURS. He probably covered 300 holes. In one corner, there were 23 holes. Yes, he counted. That tent was covered in duct tape, luckily it blended. The sidewalls were also torn and covered in holes but we weren't as concerned (we were hoping the wind wouldn't be so bad to blow rain through the sides). Anyway, we called repeatedly to complain and ask for some money back. They initially said they would try to bring another tent out. Called back and said they didn't have another they could bring, and offered $150.00 off. My boyfriend told them that a tent costing $550.00 with 300 holes was unacceptable. We wanted at least half. So, the manager gave us the runaround. She said she needed to talk to her boss (although I give her credit for calling him back in a timely manner and trying to keep in touch on Friday and saturday). She still said she wasn't waiting on an authorization on Saturday and he decided to follow up on Monday. They played phone tag Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday when he tried to reach Mrs. Johnson again she didn't call back. She never called us back again. So, my bf drove out to Landover! He showed up at their warehouse, insisted on a refund, and they gave us $200.00 back. While it wasn't exactly as much as we deserved or wanted (truthfully, it should have been free), we were content. I feel certain they will not trash this tent (as they should) but will send it out to other unsuspecting people's events. (I noticed later that another complaint was posted on angie's list saying they were rented a tent with lots of holes so either this is an ongoing issue or we got the same tent). I would NEVER use this company again. NEVER. They were less expensive but time is money. We have spent so much time rectifying the issues caused by their bad products. Lastly, we missed some holes and people still got dripped on during our dinner party. So frustrating. I hope I can help steer someone else towards another company with my story! read more

Customer service at its worst and tacky glassware If you have time to sit on hold for 15 minutes at a time (for real), deal with delivery mistakes, and fight a rude manager, use AAA Party Rentals. If you have a job you can't leave for 4 hours at a time, a party to prepare for, and common sense, go elsewhere. The "AM delivery window" extends from 10Am until 2 PM. Huh? I had to move my day around, despite having requested the morning. Thanks. The champagne flutes arrived as miniature, wide glasses more appropriate for pudding than a sparkling wine. When I called to have it fixed and redelivered, I had to fight with the manager in order for it to arrive before my party. Just what I wanted to deal with on top of other party preparations. 2 hours before guests arrived, they showed up. Stressful! Now, I have spent the last 3 hours waiting for them to pick everything up as discussed (between 10-1). Instead, they were unable to tell me when the truck would arrive, and thus I will be out from the office even longer than I had planned. Explain that to your boss. Also, the "highball" glasses resembled juice cups, not cocktail glasses. How embarrassing at my party. What planet do these people live on? Rude, unhelpful, and generally incompetent. Never again, and I will not recommend them to friends or guests at my party (several of whom I already told not to use AAA). Fragers is better, and they understand customer service. read more

AAA Party rentals was very unhelpful and unprofessional. We rented a tent, table, and chairs from them for a party at our house. The tent was dirty and had leftover balloon ribbons and deflated balloons attached to it. The tables had tape on the surface that had not been removed. Overall, the quality of the equipment we rented was poor. When trying to schedule a pick up of the items after the party, they were unhelpful and rude. I called the morning of the scheduled pick up to find out what time they were coming so I could ensure that my property was accessible and my dog was in the house. The woman who answered the phone told me she was calling the dispatcher and would call me right back with a time estimate for when they would be at my house. AAA never called me back and instead went to my home without letting me know when they were coming. They were unable to access my property and now are threatening to charge me for extra days. Ms. Johnson from the Landover office spoke to me in a raised, rude voice on the phone and told me that it was my problem not theirs despite the fact I was told that morning I would be given a time for the pick up. A couple of problems, one is the quality of the equipment rented. One table had broken legs, and two chairs had broken bases. I had rented tables, chairs, linens, and glassware for a Thanksgiving party. I was scheduled to have tables, chairs and lines picked up on Friday last, November 28th. I stayed home and no one called, and a message I left on their answering machine was not returned. On Dec 1, their crew showed up unannounced at 11:30 am, while I was in the shower. They let themselves into the my fenced and closed off back yard, and entered a closed screened in porch to retrieve the rental equipment. This is most alarming, as we have a 90lb German shepherd that could have caused serious injury to the staff. But more important is entering a part of my home unannounced, uninvited and unauthorized. Please note that equipment drop off was on my front driveway and the crew were never given access to my home, or the rear fenced in yard. When I stepped from the shower, I saw men moving about in my fenced in back yard, I was in the process of calling 911, when I saw them removing the tables, and I paused to check out what was happening. It is never acceptable to enter a private property without authority. I am still considering calling the Fairfax County Police to report the trespass and violation of privacy. I do expect pick up of equipment on the appointed day, or a call to reschedule. And absolutely expect a call before someone comes to my home without an appointment. This is a very disturbing experience. I had rented twice before from AAA, the service is never great, but the equipment was never faulty before, and I did not experience the type of privacy invasion and trespassing that I describe above with this recent rental. read more

What started off well, didn't end so great. I was pleased with both the pricing and the customer service I received over the phone but delivery was a disaster and the company was less than apologetic. When I placed my order I was given a delivery window between 10-2. When I asked about early delivery, I was told that I could pay extra to get the delivery before noon. Given it was only a benefit of possibly two hours, it didn't seem like a very good deal so I said I would make 10-2 work. I also left explicit instructions about how to get to my loading dock. I confirmed those instructions were in my order when I paid the week of my event. Come 1:15 on the day of my delivery I haven't heard a peep from AAA, so I call to make sure that I am still indeed expecting a delivery between 10 and 2. Yes, I was told that i was on the docket but that the driver's GPS was telling him he would arrive between 2:15 and 2:20. So they were going to miss the four hour window they apparently didn't think they needed to call me and tell me. 2:30 still no furniture, I call again. This time he is "10 minutes away". 3:00 no furniture. This time I get, "he's two minutes away". Then around 3:10 I get a call that he is here, except here is the front of my building which is not where he was instructed to go, so I tell him the same instructions that I had originally placed in my order. I go down to the loading dock to wait. Still not truck. He calls me and says he is there - but I am standing right there and there is no truck. He was at the loading dock for the Giant which is between the street and my loading dock. It was 3:30 before my delivery was completed. The phone operator that I called multiple times said they would refer the case to a manager. I am not sure why because the manager basically just said that there were circumstances (um, Friday DC traffic) that were outside of their control. I kind of thought a four hour delivery window was intended to account for such circumstances but apparently not with AAA Party Rentals. He also didn't seem to think that they needed to call and tell me. His response was, "well when you called at 1:15 and was told thy would be late - you knew they were going to be late". There was "nothing he could do" about refunding any portion of this delivery charge, which I find very difficult to believe. They offered to make a discount on my next delivery charge and seemed shocked when I said I was not going to be renting from them again in the future. When I asked if he would rent from them had he been in my shoes, he said, "he thought you might be more understanding". So long story short - don't expect your delivery to happen on time, or any sort of warning so you can make alternative plans. Also pricing was reflected in the product. I had ordered tables and some of the white and platinum folding chairs. The "white" part was extremely worn and basically looked dirty. If you need nice chairs, you should consider a different product or covers. Overall very disappointed with this business. read more

My parents and I rented a tent and some tables and chairs for my wedding event from the waldorf location. The pictures of the tents in the book were so pretty and white...the tables looked new...and the chairs in the show room were clean. Well they set the tent up and dropped off tables and chairs. Ten tables and 65 chairs....the tent was a nasty gray color with duct tape all over patching it. Then.....THEN...i look at the tables and chairs and swarms of flies were all over everything!!!! The chairs and tables were filthy! The tables were plywood and comig apart and sticky with food and drink and God knows what else. Me and 4 other people had to scrub the chairs from head to toe...removing the wads of gum from seats and legs. Making me gag. I called ms. Jackson said she isnt responsible for the condition of the chairs. And tried to blow me off...my dad called angry having paid 1200 for JUNK!!! AND SHE WAS NASTY. Said she would only refund 17 dollars. Said she didnt have a number for mr. Ray hicks only a fax. And i call back wondering about pick up monday and the kid shawn said the dispatcher stepped out and would call me back. Laughing at me. Never called and still hasnt picked up their trash from my brothers house. He gave me an email for ray hicks but thats it. We had to wait all day for nothing. I filed a complaint with the bbb. I rented tables and chairs for my graduation party in May and I was very disappointed with my service. The day that I went to go pick up the furniture they gave me minus one table to start. Marquitta the attendant blamed it on the guy who works there and said he is "new" and gave my table to another customer. I bring the other furniture back to my house to find out that one table that was given to me was a child's table, literally 1 foot off the floor. This means I am minus two table which means that is 12 people without a seat. They also gave me a broken chair, now by this time I am super upset. I call the Alexandria store and there is nothing they can do for me. I looked for another rental place to rent two more tables because AAA made a mistake. The worse part about this situation is that I have called multiple times to get my refund back and yet to see any change in my bank account. I left the manager a message and she has yet to get back to me. I DO NOT recommend this place to anyone. I wish I would of read the reviews before even wasting my time. AAA party rentals if you read this when customers plan an event it is already stressful enough and when you don't delivery the service you promised it makes it even more stressful. When signing the contract customers trust you that they will be fully satisfied and by the reviews you get they aren't, something should change in the company. i rented tables from AAA at the last minute in September for a school event. I was worried because of bad reviews, but no one else I called had availability or required a minimum $ amount to deliver. I mentioned the online reviews when I called, and I was put in touch with Russ their dispatcher. He assured me he would get us the tables we needed and personally make sure they were in good condition. Their truck delivering in VA was on Thursday, and I was talking to him on Wednesday. I had to get AAA a credit card number to confirm the rental and ran out of time to reach someone at the school before they closed on Wednesday. Russ assured me he would try to get the tables loaded into their truck on Thursday if I could get him the number by early Thursday morning. He also assured me that he has been working there for years, and they would make it work. I was relieved that he was true to his word -- we got the tables on time and in good condition. The drop off and pickup were uneventful. I was also worried we would have a problem with the $100 deposit they were going to charge to the card, but the school told me they did not charge a deposit in the end. Well to start my mother and i visited the alexandria location to inquire about rentals for my wedding, the gentleman at the alexandria location was not very helpful at all, said we needed to have someone come to the location to measure for the tent. he said they would call on weds of the following week, they never did. Finally we called and got through to someone and set up them coming. Seemed like crisis averted, well my mom went to finalize our order and make the deposit and we could never get anyone on the phone. After numerous attempts to literally give these people business and money and without getting through we called their main location in landover, md. Come to find out no they did not have any order from us, well yea, because nobody would take payment. They then said they did not have all of the lighting for the tent, and numerous other things. Finally got that worked out and gave them payment. Today they showed up to set up for my wedding in 2 days. We ordered 13 tables and they brought 11. We were assured they were making another delivery and would be picking up 2 tables and bringing them right back in about an hour. We should have known better, 2 hours later we called the main location to see what happened. They weren't planning on coming back or calling. After some time we were assured that there would be two tables delivered tomorrow, but of course they couldn't give us a time frame on when. We asked if there was any compensation or refund for our multiple incidents and they said no, there was nothing they could do for us. TERRIBLE customer service, they do not care about being inconveniencing or rude. Would never recommend them to anyone to use. Please take your business to someone more reliable. read more

I used this company for my first family bbq because, my sister recommended it. She said they were very courteous and accomodating. So, I was more than happy to work with them. Like another person said they were great until it came to delivery. I called on Thursday to make a payment and asked about a delivery time. I was told to call Friday around 10 am and they would give me a time. I called and it went straight to voicemail. I called a few more times and the same thing happened. I finally decided to call the sales department. I was told that because it was a holiday it would be delivered between 8 am and 7pm. WHAT IN THE WORLD!!!!! I told the young lady I have a lot to do and could she narrow it down. She then informed me that when I placed the order that was the time for me to request a time. I was not informed that I could get it delivered during a certain time period, and I definitely didn't know if I did choose that option it came with an additional charge. I am sure they do not care about the inconvenience they are causing, because they made it clear that I would be responsible for the items if something happened to it, if I am not there and there are 12 deliveries in my area. So because of that i was charged 16.95 for a floppy dirty chair i came back home confused looked around the house the chair is not home. Wait because i took all the chairs back they are very dishonest workers here i called back telling them that chair isn't here is there a chance he could have miscounted. The Rep i talked to said No your responsible for the chair you didn't get your paper signed when they were counting the chairs. AAA party rental needs to be trained in customer service especially starting from management. The communication is absolutely horrible and the manager Ms Johnson lacks the ability to communicate in a manner that's respectable to the customer. The day I picked up my items I was misinformed about the policies, the manager replied oh the girl you spoke to is new that's why she told you the wrong information. Ummm hello that's not my problem she should have been trained correctly. Ms johnson barely budged to try to rectify the problem as other customers came in with the wrong information as well. The contract they send home doesn't clearly state the terms of the rental and their policies are not listed on the sheet. I do many events and I would never recommend this place. I was highly disappointed with the service at AAA Party Rental in Landover. I ordered 20 black chairs for an event and paid for them in advance. When I arrived, they didn't have black chairs and they gave me white chairs instead. It's not what I wanted but I didn't have time to go back in the office to figure out what happened. The guy in the office told me that they would be closed on Sunday and I needed to bring them back on Monday. I looked up their hours on their website and saw they were closing at 5:30pm and returned them at 5pm. When I arrived, they told me the chairs were late and they were going to charge me double the original fee, around $75, which is ridiculous for 20 chairs! Of course I was furious! And asked for the general manager, Reneen Faxio-Johnson, who was completely inconsiderate and not listening. She pointed back at a sign that said that rentals were supposed to be back at 12 noon and then proceeded to ignore me and tell the guy at the register to ring me up for $75 and that she was done talking to me. I asked her to give me her boss' information and she would only give me the general email account address and that there was no one above her for me to talk to. I will never go back there. I usually rent from Fragers and I definitely will be patronizing them instead. read more

the worst company ever. when their equipment arrived, some of the tables still had grass attached to the legs and the rubber around the tables were coming off. when i sat down in the cheap chairs, it felt as though they were about to give in. but most importantly, read your receipt before you sign it. they gave me one 38 gallon cooler instead of two and i did not pay attention to the inventory on the list and since i was not the one that ordered it, i signed it. when they came to pick it up, the same guy picked it up and all of the sudden, he was 100% sure that he gave me two coolers so they charged us $85.00 for a cooler they never delivered. then when i called to speak with someone, a ray answered the phone and stated that he would check with the driver who probably left it somewhere else or gave it to someone else because i saw in their van when they were taking the chairs out and there was no other cooler in the truck!!!!! ray's answer was that i signed for it so i was responsible. now i not going to say that this didn't frustrate me so i did raise my voice a bit. however, i asked them to count their inventory because we only received one cooler which we returned. and his response was that he tried to help me and he was hanging up!!!! worse customer service and supplies ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
