We signed our 5 year old son up to take drum lessons and we made it clear that he was 5 on the phone. We arrived for our lesson, and the instructor took one look at our son and said, "I don't teach kids that young." So disappointed in Swing City. read more

Went in today looking for an acoustic guitar to get back into playing. Had a set spending limit and had an idea of what I wanted. I was greeted by a very knowledgeable staff and was shown other options without them pushing me to spend more money. Sure, I could have ordered the guitar online or went to a big box retailer but I wanted to keep the money local and support a small business. If you haven't been here, you've been missing out. I having been going to Swing City and working with Art Sr and art Jr for years. They were the best place for gear when we were building our band we bought a mountain of gear and flight cases to tour two countries for over 8 years. they also hooked us up with people. I called from Los Angeles a few weeks ago and not only did they hook us up with rental PA for a local gig but they also tried to fill our need with booking a local band. Recently had my daughter's Epiphone Electar amp serviced at Swing City. The amp had a problem with crackling and buzzing. They had it for 13 weeks to repair what ended up being a cracked speaker cone, according to them. Wait time seemed really excessive and the day after I communicated my unhappiness about the ongoing wait the amp was suddenly ready. When I picked it up I was told that they had played it in their store for 30 minutes and that it was in "good working order". When I delivered it to my daughter, who lives 150 miles away, she plugged her guitar in and while they fixed the crackling sound with the speaker cone replacement, the loud buzzing is still present and was not addressed at all which is inexcusable after all of the time they had the amp. They claimed to have tested the tubes early in the diagnostics process. The buzzing was present with a different guitar as well. They would have heard it during the 30 minutes that they played it but chose to overlook it for reasons unknown. They did not care enough about the delay in service to offer any discount on the expensive repair and I now see that they didn't even address all of the issues. I have no confidence in the capabilities of this store to do repairs in a timely or complete manner. read more
