I decided after about four days to go 's and ask if I could visit with my husband for 10 or 15 minutes. I parked on the side where the double glass doors are and I went in and I got to a long hallway and I looked left. I didn't see anyone so I went down the hall toward the front of the building, knocking on the asking is there anybody here? Is there anybody here? I found no one so I had heard people talking at the other end of the hall with a single glass door went out into a parking lot. I proceeded down that hallway and when I got to the glass doors, a woman, a blonde, middle-aged woman let me at the door and open the door and her first question was to me." How did you get in here?" I told her that I had come through the double doors on the side parking lot and she proceeded to act like I was lying and said the man that just left has just locked all these doors.. so trying to lighten the mood a bit. I said well I assure you I open those doors before I came through them. She either did not get the humor or didn't think it was humorous she said what can I do for you and I proceeded to tell her my husband is here and I would like to visit with him for approximately 15 minutes. I told her how long we were married, and that he had passed away On 16 June. So she asked me what his name was and I said Jeff Chandler., well she said to me we do not have a Jeff Chandler here. And I said to her yes you do he's here., and she proceeded to tell me that she answers the upfront and she would know if he was here, so I told her Hunter's funeral home picked him up in Gallatin and brought him here to be cremated. She said oh well if he's here he would be he's out in the back parking lot in a building in our 10 she man cooler., which wasn't a very good visual for me having my husband gone only four days. I just don't see necessary why she would've had to have told me that but anyway she said if he is here and it was a she told me if I wanted to see him that I would have to call funeral home and have them come pick him up and take him to Watertown and have him Prepped for visitation , I said to her that is not necessary. I just see him for a few minutes to tell him goodbye.. well she told me that that was not possible that I had to take it up with Hunter's and led me to the back door and more or less put me out to go and that was the end of it. Needless to say, I sit in the car and cried and cried as I looked at the crematory building thinking of him in a 10 person cooler with nine other people possibly just not a good situation.. I would really love to have an apology from this lady and let her know that that is really not the way you talk to people you don't start out with "what are you doing in here " like you broke into the place and in telling you that your husband's not there that she answers the phone and she would know if he was there when I'm trying to tell her yes he is here. Anyway, hopefully they have cameras or record and show exactly what the conversation was and when I came in the door and when I went out the door, etc., etc.. Please Please read this before taking or leaving your child here. I know it is long but it is the…read moretruth I would not recommend sending your child to Young Scholars Preschool. The owner of this preschool goes through employees like water. She cannot retain them due to how she treats them. She chastises them for any and every little thing right in front of parents, which I found extremely unprofessional. In the 7 months that our son was in her care, I cannot even count the number of employees she had. Because of this high turnover, the kids do not know what to expect day to day and the staff does not have the proper training to deal with kids, especially behavior issues. When my husband went to pick my son up from Young Scholars Preschool the day we decided to pull him out, the staff did not know who he was, even though he had been there 3 weeks prior. The staff tried to call the owner of the preschool because she was not on-site, and she did not answer her phone. Due to the high turnover and lack of training, they did not know to look in my child's file to see photos of the parents so they could verify identity. When my husband did end up speaking with the owner of the preschool about our concerns, her response was "that is too bad". It was very disappointing that she did not care we had concerns and issues about the behavior our son was exhibiting the last few months he was in her care ranging from very angry, crying and not wanting to be dropped off, and coming home multiple days in a row with wet pants. The preschool owner spends more time making sure a sheet is filled out each day detailing every single book they read, what is eaten (all breakfast and lunch is provided by the parents), and bathroom trips, rather than focusing on the child and learning. It is my belief that a preschool should teach more than tracing ABC's each day and repeating a letter before going to the restroom. Each month parents are required to pay an activity fee. It turns out, this activity fee in addition to a bouncy house which is a fun thing, is used to feed the children donuts, pizza, and a large bag of candy that the kids are sent home with. We are not a candy-free household, but we do not feel that a 2 1/2 year old needs to be sent home with a bag of candy each month. We did not appreciate the extra money per month being spent on junk to feed our child when we were told that the kids were going to be fed healthy snacks. In addition to the monthly activity, the daily snacks fed to the kids are full of sugar such as juice barrels. Always be sure to check the DHS website to see how many violations a pre-school or daycare has. In the 7 months our son was at Young Scholars Preschool, Young Scholars Preschool had 8 violations. I find this completely unacceptable especially when they range from taking away food as punishment, not keeping the heat at the minimum temperature required, and more violations you can look at for yourself: http://tennessee.gov/humanservices/article/find-child-care In close, do not send your child to Young Scholars Preschool. She puts on a good front, but as time goes on, you can see through the façade of what is supposed to be taught and fed and the school, but is not. After all was said and done we also had to pay her out for the last 2 weeks due to no notice. She even threatened to send us to collection. If we where not in the middle of buying a new home we would have fought her in court. But that is not feasible for us at this time for us.
