I didn't actually contract the service of this company, but my brief interaction with them was so positive that I felt compelled to write a review. I had a wasp nest in a covered outdoor outlet. Even though I bought a can of wasp spray last year, I was scared to use it as every time I opened the cover 2-3 wasps would come out to greet me and it is an electric outlet. So I requested a quote on Yelp to have it removed and 3 pest control companies responded. Initially I was going to pay $200 to have another company come and remove the nest. Steve at MacDougall looked at the photo that I sent and emailed me with detailed instructions on how to remove the wasp nest myself without paying for visit by the professional. I followed the instructions and sprayed the outlet in the evening. The next day the nest was completely gone! All that was left were several dead wasps. Steve did provide a quote that I requested even though he told me that it is something that I can do myself. And the price that he quoted was way lower than another company. If I were not moving away and selling my house soon, I would have hired them for long-term service, as I have not been able to find a reliable pest control company for over 2 years ever since the my last provider changed ownership and everything went south. In an era when so many service providers try to rip off people, it was refreshing to find one like MacDougall. I hope that they will stay this way. read more

I scheduled with the owner who was very helpful explained the all treatments to be done at the property & pricing ! I did ask if the tech could wear booties or removes shoes as I have carpeting , & if they would mind wearing a mask as I have an elderly in the home . Tech arrived on time , when asked about the booties he laughed & said he had none but could remove his shoes , when asked if he would mind wearing mask he laughed and replied he didn't have one. He treated sparsely ( maybe that all he felt he needed) & I asked about certain insects /treatments etc to which he said he was not an 'expert '. He sprayed one spot in my garage (attached) & when I asked why he wasn't spraying perimeter he said he couldn't get around the stuff ( no more stuff than any other garage I've seen) outside was interesting he seemed to have no clue what eaves were he thought eaves meant windows I guess! Because he didn't dust the eaves ! As I hung a bit I noticed he wasn't spraying the x amount of feet out from home that I was explained about by the owner ! The tech stated that would cost me more ! I explained what I was told on the phone and tried ti show my notes but he wasn't having it ! Instead as I'm standing on my driveway he sprays the grass and my legs then tell me I should be more careful ! It was like he intended a rudeness from the moment he got to my home ! Hiring a family business I didn't expect the aggravation ! I see all these wonderful reviews about the owner who sadly was not going to be my tech ! I see the owner responds to negative comments in a manner that seems to blame the customer ! I u seedy and in some cases the customer could be an issue but when you are paying for a service the replies here from the company should reflect that you indeed VALUE your customer ! I was concerned about carpenter ants due to some saw dust piles and the crunching sounds so I called. After a short conversation and some questions, they convinced me it was actually carpenter bees. After setting up an appointment, they stopped out and treated the bee issue as well as a general pest control for me.
