It's clean and well cared for, and we were made extremely welcome by the lovely owners. There's a regular bus service into/from town about every half hour (or every 15-20 minutes during the day, if I recall right) that stops right opposite the front door. The breakfasts are awesome - you get to choose your menu the night before (from simple continental to ful extra-large cooked English) for an all-inclusive price. I only wish I'd not had such a hangover then I'd have been able to do justice to mine!! I'd definately stay there again.

The single room is spacious to lay your bags down in the floor, although this isn't en-suite, the bathroom/shower room is only just a few paces across the landing. It's located a short walk from Christchurch Road with many bus connection to Bournemouth, not to mention top of Boscombe gardens which is a walkway towards Boscombe pier. Will come again soon!

The staff are friendly and relaxed and the rooms are comfy and cute. They have a cat. He's called Colin. Don't let him in your room, he'll puke in your shoes. This is my kind of play. A home away from home. After looking at all the other hotels around, Urban Beach really is quite different, they don't have patterned carpet and matching curtains and they certainly don't have in-your-face staff and boring rooms. I read a few reviews in other places saying it wasn't kid friendly, I don't think this is the case. It's certainly not wheelchair friendly but kids, sure.

There is a wide choice of rooms from doubles upto family rooms that sleep 5, all ensuite and have tv/dvd and tea and coffee making facilities. some rooms (those to the front) also have sea views. the bnb is right on the sea front offering dramatic views of the coastline. there is permit parking available, which is a bonus as parking in weymouth in the summer can be a pain. there is also a private bar with pool table and tv for guest use. I arrived around 11.15am by train (station is only 5 min away) and was greeted by Dawn and Jon who made me feel instantly welcome at their guesthouse. The single room has everything one needs: a comfy bed, desk, wardrobe, ensuite and a shower just outside the room. Everything was spotless when I entered and in my job I have an eye for dirt. Although the B&B being just 2 min from the main road and the beach, I could neither hear any traffic nor party noise like I'm used to in London which was wonderful at night. I could finally sleep without having to use earplugs. At 8.30am, a splendid English breakfast was served by Dawn who was very attentive to everybody's wishes. I got very good tips from Dawn and Jon for exploring the area and really enjoyed my stay in Weymouth and the guesthouse. Thank you very much!

The rooms and the public areas have their best years behind them. Nevertheless, it seems relatively well maintained. In the double bed you lie on one mattress and share a large blanket. The ambient noise (from the other rooms and also from outside) is extremely loud. If you have a light sleep, you will probably sleep badly. The breakfast (service at the table, because Corona) was very good and the choice was large.

It was much too warm when I checked in. But that was easily remedied. Coffee, tea and biscuits of course in the room. Nice breakfast too. Traditional English done nicely. Dinner in the restaurant was nice. Nothing to write home about, but competently done. Chicken wasn't dry!!! I do like to go to the seaside places off-season. So much less crowded - and I get the sleepy atmosphere of my childhood down here in Dorset.
