I thought I knew what I wanted, and that was to NOT go to Leon's or the Brick despite their low-interest (or no interest) financing options. And I really wanted to try going local. At first Poirier Furniture felt a little intimidating. But we overcame our nervousness of entering a "fancier" furniture store (again, we were avoiding The Brick and Leon's so anything other than that was fancy), and started sitting on random chairs, evaluating them based on comfy-ness, fluffiness and how high the backs were. We were approached by an employee who immediately helped us understand that there were different price ranges, and that we were most welcome to try them all out. Delivery was free, he specified, and they could even hold an item at no charge in their storehouse (which is on the lot). Even though I gave away my interest in a particular couch, they were very good at giving us a discount (my spouse requested a pregnant-lady discount, which they did!) and throwing in the pillows that were used to highlight the couch on the floor. Over-all, I found the little store actually had a wide variety of couches that suited our needs. And in the end, even if we wouldn't have found what we were looking for, the friendly service and the advantage of being locally owned really showed itself.
