My old sister referred Dr. Ester Kwok's to me about 20 years ago and I have been her patient since…read morethen. We learned to be "patient" with her because we knew she usually spent a lot of time to examine her patients and follow up with history. It is usually at least an hour per visit. The hospital set up time for the type of visits for doctors and she always ran overtime. This may not be good for patients who don't want to spend too much time with a doctor. But for baby boomers, we need someone who care us more than we care ourselves. She know my personal medical history and family history better than I do and she catches any problems before they get serious. I know two of her patients, my friends, got treated for cancer at early stages because Dr. Kwok knew something was not right and recommended them to go to the hospital for in-deep examinations. If you are young and healthy, and always rush to do everything, then you are better to stick with someone associated with the doctors under the hospital umbrella. They truly efficient. She is a concierge doctor now and she is now allowed to see patients with necessary time without limitation. The membership fee is worthy when you need outstanding care quality. We love her and we are happy she is looking after us. https://www.doctoresterkwok.com

Also she would go above and beyond to provide the care for her patients. I was discharged from an acute hospital In early July 2025. I was too weak to make an office visit after the discharge. Dr. Kwok made 3 house calls in 5 days. I became very ill again on day 4. When she came to visit me on the 5th day , she called 911 and sent me to a different hospital which is better, but further from her office. She stayed in ER with me for 6 hours and visited me in the hospital daily for a week. Her dedication and professionalism truly saved my life. I am so lucky to have her as my doctor.

My wife and I have been going to Dr Shamala (her last name is very long so she goes by her first…read morename) approximately 4 years. I've be in the medical device field for cardiovascular medicine in R&D and acquisition for the last 27 years and ironically have heart disease, really bad cholesterol and challenges with some of the key medications along with a couple of other issues. Thus I've have plenty of interactions. Short story--I recommend Dr Shamala without reservation. Going to her is like hiring a boutique Doctor where you pay a couple of thousand dollars a year, cash, to have them really spend time with you. Dr Shamala pays attention to you as though she was dealing with a family member. She is very knowledgeable and if she is unsure or doesn't know, admits it freely and will look it up with you real time and discuss what she finds and what you want to do. If you want someone to just guide your therapy, she is very comfortable and confident in that. If like me, you want a really smart, kind, caring, listening, and knowledgeable doctor to work with you and spend time. You've hit the jackpot. Dr Shamal is also fairly easy to get an appointment within the week. Hopefully my and the other great reviews won't change that too much.

I'm honestly surprised to see so many 5-star reviews. I recently lost my primary care physician,…read morewho was truly exceptional--she was always available on short notice when I was sick and built a strong, trusting relationship with me over time. Since transitioning to Dr. Shamala, my experience has been very disappointing. Appointments are booked several months out, which defeats the purpose of having a primary care provider. When you're sick, you need timely access--not a long wait that forces you to rely on urgent care visits, as I've had to do multiple times. When I asked about the delays, I was told there are simply too many patients. That response was concerning. It feels like the focus is on taking on more patients rather than properly caring for existing ones. During the one appointment I was able to get (scheduled three months in advance), I felt rushed, as if the priority was moving quickly to the next patient rather than providing thoughtful care. Maybe my previous doctor set a very high bar, but this experience has been frustrating and disappointing. Accessibility and patient relationship are fundamental to primary care, and unfortunately, that has not been my experience here.
