My old sister referred Dr. Ester Kwok's to me about 20 years ago and I have been her patient since then. We learned to be "patient" with her because we knew she usually spent a lot of time to examine her patients and follow up with history. It is usually at least an hour per visit. The hospital set up time for the type of visits for doctors and she always ran overtime. This may not be good for patients who don't want to spend too much time with a doctor. But for baby boomers, we need someone who care us more than we care ourselves. She know my personal medical history and family history better than I do and she catches any problems before they get serious. I know two of her patients, my friends, got treated for cancer at early stages because Dr. Kwok knew something was not right and recommended them to go to the hospital for in-deep examinations. If you are young and healthy, and always rush to do everything, then you are better to stick with someone associated with the doctors under the hospital umbrella. They truly efficient. I have been a patient of Dr. Kwok for 5 years. She is one of the few doctors who would really spend time to do a thorough examination on their patients. Also she would go above and beyond to provide the care for her patients. I was discharged from an acute hospital In early July 2025. I was too weak to make an office visit after the discharge. Dr. Kwok made 3 house calls in 5 days. I became very ill again on day 4. When she came to visit me on the 5th day , she called 911 and sent me to a different hospital which is better, but further from her office. The appointment is delayed for 1 hour... I don't understand why there is a schedule if it is that off.

Chose Dr. Kwok based on the reviews for her patient care and the fact she accepted new patients at El Camino Healthcare on Winchester. Took me 3 months to get an appointment. I was asked to arrive for my 1120am appointment at 1105am, I was there at 1055am. She was still seeing a patient, he checked out at 1125am. I asked how much longer at 1135am, was seen by the MA at 1140am did the vital signs and asked general questions, went to get the doctor at 1153am, knowing I had to be back to work at 1pm and appointment for new patient is 40 mins. The doctor never showed by 1205pm and I WALKED out!! What was she doing from 1125a to 1205p? Did she not think my time was as valuable as hers? Not a good first impression!! I work healthcare as well and am aware of appointment scheduling and timelines. I requested my co-pay back. I did voice my concerns with the office manager, she was apologetic but I assured her she did nothing wrong but the doctor's time management needs to be addressed. Thank goodness it wasn't an emergency. To say the least I am changing primary doctor and will address this with my insurance. read more

The best doctor I ever had. DR Ester Kwok is so precise in her findings, she is excellent in chemistry and knows how to figure the best process for keeping you healthy, not only through medication if necessary but through realistic guidance. She spends the needed time with you, very difficult to find a doctor that will even spend 15 minutes vs. Dr Ester spending 30-45 min. My wife had to be sent into emergency last month and Dr Ester came over to the hospital during her lunch hour and after all her appointments including the weekend. I had appointment at 4:30, and was not be able to see her until 5:40, then she told me she need another 1.5 hour, or she can talk very fast and finish in 15 mins (magic ?). Dr. Ester Kwok is very professional, detailed and thorough. She gives helpful advice that is practical to adopt. She doesn't rush you. For that she would get 5 stars. Now the negative - it's difficult to get a same day appt or even next day or even 3 days later...... I had a bad throat and knowing that I have a long commute tfrom the clinic, when I called, they gave me an appt to arrive in 20 minutes, even after telling them that it would take me 45 minutes to reach so it's impossible. I went back to my old doctor who is flexible and equally great but unfortunately not in my plan. The next time I had pink eye, I just went to an express care because I know it would be the same story - won't get an appt and it's a Friday and didn't want to stay with pink eye for the weekend. So if you don't get your doctor when you desperately need one, what is the point?. I have been with her since 5 months and met her once - for a well visit that was given 4 months later. In the meanwhile, I had the flu, sore throat and pink eye, but couldn't see her....They openly ask you to go to urgent care....that is the frustration here. A very good doctor... Very serious... The best ever... She can catch all small details and find the reason.. However... Be warned.. Some tests might require some blood tests in some extreme cases.
