Prior to meeting Abacus I was a little concerned about hiring someone to complete my personal taxes. I was worried that a tax advisor would be dishonest in an effort to get me an incorrectly higher return. Instead ... I found Abacus to be honest, complete and quick! She was able to point out a number of mortgage-related deductions that I had been missing for a long time, she even helped me submit corrections for an earlier year based on the differences. I reached out to Lauren early this year, at the very start of tax season. I gave her a lot of information upfront since this was my first time working with her, but warned her that I'd be slow sending stuff as we were in the midst of buying a home. Lauren is amazing!!!! She took our information via email and within a couple days I spent an hour on the phone with her while she explained the options. She was very knowledgable, personable, and easy going...but definitely was looking out for me. The most incredible thing is she had the integrity to tell us we would be just as well off filing online instead of having her do it. WHAT?? She could have charged hundreds of dollars but didn't. She has a gift for understanding the tax credits for parents with a child who has a Learning Disability (Dyslexia) tuition credits for private, specialized schools and SSI benefits.
