If you're looking for some CPA to do some data entry at tax time (basically, following the prompts from some piece of software like the clowns at the mall kiosks), move along. Tricia is not for you. If you're a small business owner trying to navigate a business entity classification + a marriage + a home sale + some investment tax issues + an interstate move - and do all of this via phone and email while you're traveling on your extended honeymoon - this is who you want. 3. Speaking of the IRS, Tricia is ethical, but she works to minimize your bill. I've never felt uneasy with anything, but I've also never felt like we left money on the table. I asked her if I could set up a consultation, so she asked me what my debt amount was. When I told her, she replied that she could connect me to their website for the owner to answer one question, but they don't handle anything less than 25k. Obviously I have confusion after hearing their add on the radio. Unfortunately this experience wasn't what I had hoped for, so if your tax debt is larger than 25k, they can help you and if not... Not sure where you turn.

He stated he would go ahead and take me but that's usually someone else doing the "free" consultation. This is the conclusion, he stated that basically their company specializes in ppl that have numerous unfiled tax forms and owe a lot of money. He did inform me of how I could resolve my issue and he would help me take the steps to resolve but I could do it myself. So he was honest. I give him credit for that. Well we were told we could only apply for S Corp status during a certain time, and we had missed it. Well come to find out that's not true. He could have saved our business a lot of money but he chose not to. Mr. Keeley has "offices"(he's not there and not staffed) in many states. He doesn't go the extra mile for his customers, he barely makes the block. He doesn't want to do your taxes if he doesn't do your books, but I didn't feel comfortable with that considering he never seemed to want to help or answer the phone. He's big on AI help, so that's who answers his phone. If I had a question I was given a very vague response as this was his way of persuading me to let him do the bookkeeping, basically saying I couldn't do it without him. My opinion you could get the same service using turbo tax and would be a hell of a lot cheaper. I would find someone who is more hands on and honest.

I had 30…read moreminute meeting with him discussed I would need a tax return for Utah and Colorado- I would have capitol gains from selling two properties and depreciation recapture. Marcus said no problem would probably cost around $1,000 and he would have them filed by April 15th. Wanting an update I contacted Tanner front desk the last week of March since I hadn't heard from them and left messages 3 different times that week for Marcus to please contact me with estimate of taxes owed (I knew I would owe $40,000 plus to Irs). Marcus never contacted me. All I wanted was a text or an email or a phone call but he couldn't be bothered (no one there could even return a call). Finally less than a week before April 15th my husband called the Tanner receptionist and said we wanted our tax documents back. My husband picked them up that day and all Marcus had to say was for us to file an extension - he hadn't even touched them. Filing the extension would have prevented us from getting the state of Colorado tabor refund of $1,600, which might not sound like much but when you are going to owe over $40,000 every little bit helps. There was no apology he didn't even care. My husband and I had to quickly take our info over to another company who worked very hard to get them filed by April 15th. Whatever you do don't go to Tanner or work with Marcus. They don't care about regular people. I guess we were just small potatoes to them.

He schedules appointments well in advance so once the W-2's start to roll in we have time set aside to review our files. When we show up for our appointment, we run through the checklist verify we have all the right forms, then we go away while Dustin completes our tax forms. We then pick up the final package and complete the filing process. Dustin is very responsive via email and phone if we have any questions throughout the process.
