As a Black woman- finding a Black GYN who made me feel genuinely cared for meant more to me than I can fully explain. I saw Dr. Okasi and immediately felt comfortable. She's professional, knowledgable, but most importantly patient & thorough. I've also been seen by Brittany Abbate, PA, for my annual this week, and she was phenomenal. She was professional, gentle, attentive and soooo informative on next steps that made the most sense. Lastly I truly appreciate Sami in the front office. I haven't met her in person to get a chance to really tell her this but she is a GEM! she's always quick in communication, emails, and text messages for any questions/ anything appt related. I truly feel like I finally a practice I've been praying for. I highly recommend Women's Wellness MD to anyone looking for compassionate professionals. (sorry for super long review but everyone is just amazing)

I remember telling Dr. Okasi to please use the small speculum before the exam. She nodded yes but said nothing verbally. As soon as the speculum was opened, I let out such a scream! I'm sure people in the waiting room and other parts of the office heard me, especially since this office has walls that don't connect to the ceiling (open concept). At no time did she comfort me, nothing like "breathe. Take a deep breath" or "are you ok? It's almost over". Nothing at all! I truly suspect she used the large speculum. Maybe she didn't like being told what to use. All I know is I've never yelled liked that in any of my previous examinations with other MDs. I was so embarrassed to the point that I apologized after the exam. And I shouldn't have, thinking back. Why did I apologize for pain inflicted upon me? That's why I wanted the smaller speculum! After getting in my car, I said to myself I'm never coming back here. Dr. Okasi's bedside manner was so so poor, to say the least. And the staff is not memorable. Believe what your patients tell you. We know our bodies more than you do. And if something doesn't make sense, then ask us questions for clarification.

** 7 Year Updated Review **…read more This practice continues to be top-notch in my book. I've exclusively only dealt with Dr. Denise White because she's just that great. I'm able to reach my provider anytime during business hours by telephone and by email other times. She's very kind, has a great bedside manner, is smart, and pleasant. She's gentle and always puts a smile on my face. If you are looking for a great provider and advocate for women's health, this practice and Dr. White is the way to go. Now trust me when I tell you, the entire staff is great. My experience is always a great experience from the moment I enter and converse w kind desk staff, to the friendly and professional medical attendants that assist the providers. 5/5 greatness !! It's super clean at all times. The exam rooms are spacious, free of clutter, and patient friendly. I've been w this practice for 24 years. Dr. White, at least 6 years. I ain't going NO WHERE !! Thank you for continuing to be an amazing practice for women's health.

As a relatively healthy woman from the baby boomer generation, in 2015, with no genetic history of…read morecancer in my family, I was diagnosed with a rare form of endometrial cancer. After a complete hysterectomy and minimal follow-up treatment (without radiation), I enjoyed three years of clean health. Then in 2018, I started having digestive issues, acid reflux, insomnia, burning sensations in legs, abdomen, back and face. I was probed, scanned, had multiple blood tests and referred to many specialists. My auto-immune thyroid numbers were through the roof, I was told I was under stress and that I should try counseling. I was prescribed medication for the acid reflux, medication for sleep and told that eventually I would need to be on medication for my thyroid as well. I used the acid reflux meds for two years, and tried the sleep meds to no avail. I was a mess, my symptoms were getting worse and were a huge disruption to my life and I refused to accept the fact that taking medications were my only way forward. While reading an article in one of my local magazines about boosting your immunity through natural remedies, I was introduced to Dr. Ashley Russell, who was a contributor to the article. I decided it was time to forge a new path. The discovery that her office was only five minutes from my house was a sign from the universe that I had to go and see her. To keep this story brief but poignant, Dr. Russell ran tests that none of my other doctors even thought of and was able to figure out the root cause of all of my symptoms, which she treated gently, using natural supplements, nutritional guidelines and suggestions for mind/body practices. Slowly but surely, all of my symptoms quieted down (and went away), sleep returned and my thyroid numbers came under control. Dr. Russell treats the whole body, not just the symptoms. She gives you the time to speak, she takes the time to listen and learn about you as a person. She cares about your whole body health and not about selling quick fixes or products in general. Dr. Russell helped me regain my quality of life and since 2021, Dr. Russell continues to be my first choice when it comes to my healthcare.

From the beginning, Dr. Russell understood my concern and understood why it was important to me to find more natural solutions to address the issue that I came to her with. From the very beginning, Dr. Russell's approach was different and refreshing. At our first meeting we discussed the reason why I initially sought her care, but then discussed where I was at as a person and uncovered that I really had multiple goals that I was wanting to address. She ordered a health panel and carefully walked me through understanding all the numbers---something no doctor had other done before with me. She answered all my questions thoughtfully and provided resources to help me better reach my personal health goals. The other thing that Dr. Russell makes clear from the beginning is that she wants you to be an active participant in your health and she really means it. She doesn't get offended when I ask questions and doesn't think that I am questioning her expertise or professional opinion. She understands how important it is to me to be involved and fully understand different options, and she facilitates this understanding. In short, Dr. Russell is a truly caring health professional that fully supports her patients. She is respectful, non-judgmental, attentive, and smart. To Dr. Russell you are not a number, but actually a person that she truly cares about. She remembers what you talk about from visit to visit and helps you be accountable toward reaching your personal health goals. During COVID, we have been having virtual telehealth visits that have been seamless. I feel very fortunate to be one of her patients and cannot recommend her highly enough.

I had laparoscopic surgery with her and when struggling months later due to pain in the incision areas she did not wish to examine me or order me proper imaging of my stomach saying this is out of her wheel house she cannot interpret it, even though she cut me open in my stomach so why are you cutting people open if you are unfamiliar with the stomach area?. She offered me no remedy or help although the issues were from her surgery . I have talked to other previous patients that have been dismissed after having pain after surgery, one who told me they were left in tears and she basically told them to leave the office. This patient claims they then had a procedure with another surgeon who found more endometriosis afterwards. If you would like to see this doctor as your surgeon and have no issues, you may be fine. However, once you have your procedure if you have any issues know that she is done with you- patients to her are just numbers and she's chasing her next surgery not making sure everything is OK with the surgeries She's already done.

Reading through some of these comments I'm a bit baffled but of course everyone's experience is not my own. My experience was nothing but exemplary, filled with great conversations, concerns addressed and welcoming and professional warmth. Maybe working in the medical field I am bias to understanding that yes there can be delays but how often does the physician actually get to work with you, and not just the nurse or nurse practitioner doing much of the interviewing. And even if the wait is longer than expected which it wasn't long at all in my opinion, the staff always apologized and made sure I was okay. I wouldn't want a speedy service anyway because that would mean the physician is not taking the alloted time to meet and address all the concerns of their patients. Dr. Oliver and her staff were absolutely remarkable. Their office is so homely and they offer everything under the sun. I look forward to continuing my care with them . I tried out Dr. Oliver because my long term Ob/gyn retired. Skipping over the small, the biggest thing and last straw was because I raised a concern and she did blood test but after NUMEROUS calls to the office and being told by seemingly ANNOYED staff that if my labs were abnormal I would get a call. NEVER got that call so I decided to check for myself and they were in fact ABNORMAL. This was an entire MONTH after my labs were done. I called to let them know about this and the Young lady I spoke to told me that I would be called back. No Call back. Week later So now, we are here. The biggest thing for me is that even with a mistake like this , people make mistakes you would think Dr. Oliver would call or apologize for the over sight but nothing. It's unfortunate but I do believe there are still providers out there who really care about their patients. Dr. Oliver does not appear to be one.
