After having…read moretried SEVERAL NYC hair stylists, I made an evening appointment with Porsche. She was recommended by a stylist back home whose client went to her. I received a relaxer (Cheryl was great!), and I allowed Porsche to work her magic. She spiral-curled my hair with a curling iron, and it was gorgeous! My hair flowed, it was extremely soft, and the curls fell into place with little maintenance. Relaxer and style--$83.50 (with tax). I thought I'd found my stylist!
I made an appointment for two weeks later, this time in the morning at 11:30. Cheryl shampooed, conditioned, and set my hair. I waited and waited. Then I asked the receptionist if Porsche was coming. I had an appointment uptown at 3 p.m. and needed to be on time! Come to find out, Porsche DOES NOT show up to the shop until 1, 2, 3 or later! She contacted Porsche, who said she'd be there in 20 minutes. 20 turned into 40. I went to McDonald's, grabbed lunch, brought it back to the shop (just knowing she would be there), and ate my lunch. At 2:10, I asked Cheryl if she could finish me off. "No." At 2:15, I got up and left. Cheryl took out the rollers and hair clips and could tell I was completely disgusted. I asked her, "Is this her usual practice?" Earlier, while she was shampooing my hair, she asked if the girl who referred me to the shop told me that Porsche doesn't come in in the morning. I thought nothing of it. If you schedule an appointment, you should be there!
Even though I only received half of the service, I wound up paying 80% of the price. I should not have paid anything, but I'm a good Christian young lady! I had to go to my appointment with a wool hat on my head (a professional appointment I might add), hustle home to make some sense of my incomplete hairstyle, and leave for the other engagements I had that evening. Good thing I own and know how to work an awesome flat iron.
Why take appointments at 11:30 if you are not going to be in the shop until 4 hours later??? I spoke to a client who had her braids freshened, and she asked if this was my first time at the shop. "Well don't make any appointments for the day when you get your hair done." What kind of foolishness is that??? I can't afford to spend an entire day waiting for a stylist to show up. Are you kidding me??? My time is valuable. I am a loyal client if you respect my time, make sure my hair is clean and growing, and keep me well-coiffed.
Needless to say, I WILL NOT be going back to Ebony Design. Totally unprofessional!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
