The driver who provided me a great taxi experience used to work for Rockingham Cab, he now has his own business (Great Bay Taxi), so I am moving my review over to this. So don't be confused if you see duplicates. My experiences with him was as follow.... This was my first time taking a Cab by myself and at 1 AM in the morning. I was nervous and I needed a taxi service that was safe and reliable. Luckily, I went to Yelp and saw two positive reviews for Rockingham Taxi. So now its my turn go back to Yelp to share my experience so it will help others as the last two reviewers did for me. My experience with Rockingham Taxi was completely positive, from the first phone call to being dropped off at the front of my house. I had to change my pickup times several times due to the schedules of C & J bus, and every time the person on the phone was always polite and accommodating. I was nervous that the taxi would be late, since I had a long long fly and couldn't wait to get home. The moment I step off the bus, Rockingham Taxi was already waiting for me in front of the C & J building. The cab driver politely greeted me and helped me with my two very heavy luggages (50 lb and 51 lb). His name is John P. Hopefully I got the first name right. Basically the whole experience with Rockingham Taxi was very smooth. They even take credit card (with the iphone), which is a good thing because I didnt have any cash left. I will definitely use their service again and recommend them to everyone who needs tax service. This would be especially helpful for shipyard employee who are typically placed on weird travel hours and dont want their family members to have to loose sleep from picking them up. This was the worst taxi ride I have ever taken. The driver was rude, driving right on everyone's tail, and almost hit two joggers who were on a long straight road in the middle of the clear bright day, perhaps he was distracted by the personal phone call he had that lasted the entire 20 minute ride. Or maybe it was the one phone call he interrupted that one for in order to talk to one of his coworkers and talk trash about another one. Either way, I will NEVER call this cab company again. I called the night before ar, about 830 pm to request a pick up at 3am. Before requesting it, I asked how early they could pick up. When I told the person on the phone, who IDed herself as "the night driver tonight", she told me she would stay on late to pick me up. I waited for 25 minutes past my scheduled time before I started walking. I called to see where the driver was, but got no answer on the phone and was unable to leave voice mail. My driver, who is the owner of the company, was a real treat. He headed out the door as soon as I called with my location, and called to be sure of the address. He drove me from UNH to the bus station in Portsmouth. We had a lovely chat, that didn't feel forced. His pricing was fair, and the vehicle was immaculate. My friend and I booked Great Bay Taxi through the Sheraton in Portsmouth to drive us around New Hampshire all weekend for a business trip. The service was quick, the cabs were very clean and our driver was wonderful. As two 20 year old women, we felt extremely safe the entire time we were on our trip thanks to Great Bay and will definitely be using them if we visit Portsmouth again. read more

That was not the case at all. I told the gentlemen I spoke with that there was no rush. He said someone would pick me up at 4:15. And there was no problem with the time. So the problem was your cab driver got on the highway to somersworh when she was taking me to Durham. It changed the trip from 6 miles to 14 miles and wanted me to eat the cost. Then she pulled over on 108 and tried to throw me out of the cab and I told her I would not get out and I would call 911. It was dark out and snow and ice on the ground. She continue to drive me to about a mile from my destination where I wAs forced to get out of the cab and walk with 2 heavy bags...disgusting. And she said you told her to drop me off... Do not , under any circumstances rely on Great Bay Taxi I reserved a taxi to Logan Airport on their Website. When I got no response via email I called and was assured that we would be picked up on time to make our appointment The time came and Great Bay was a no show! I called and after several attempts the phone was finally answered . I was informed they had no record of our reservation!! Needless to say we missed our appointment and had to scramble to make alternate arrangements Like I said--do not use this service, they are the worst!!! read more

Was on here looking for past reviews like I always do before booking a service. The responses from the owner are defensive and out of line. Hopefully one day you will learn that arguing with past or future customers is not he way to go. Not one single time did you take responsibility for any of the complaints these customers brought forward. Wont be using you or recommending you to anyone I know. read more

Wish I could give a negative star. Called several hours before ride was needed to schedule pick-up for 5. They were a no show. When I called at the appointed time, the person wanted to know who I had spoken to - as if it were my fault. They sent Rockingham Taxi as a sub - which was DISGUSTING! Like riding in an ashtray that hadn't been emptied in a while. The cab companies wonder why everyone wants Uber in Portsmouth. This isn't the first time we've been left without a ride. I am very disappointed with this company!!! I called in advance to let them know I was going to be arriving at 12:45 am at the Durham station. When I arrived there was no cab there I waited for at least 20 minutes all the while I was calling and no answer. I ended up walking 4 miles at 1am. Worst customer service I have ever experienced! I used their service last Saturday and called on Sunday morning to see if I left my cellphone, driver's license, and credit card in Sean's cab. I was told that Sean DID IN FACT have my items (yay!) but his shift was over and they would try to coordinate getting my items back to me. I told them that I live out of state and need to get my items as soon as possible so I can drive home. I gave them my friend's number to contact me at and we waited around all day for my stuff. I called several times for updates but they kept telling me to wait for Sean to call me to get my items from him. Finally I called back around 5:30pm and was told that Sean didn't have my stuff after all (he had someone else's phone- not an iPhone). SERIOUSLY?!? If you knew that Sean didn't have my stuff why didn't you call me to let me know? Also, why do lost items stay with the driver after hours? If the phone Sean had went to the lost and found location at the headquarters I could have been told it's not the right phone so I didn't have to wait around all day. I've never been more disappointed with a company and a human being in my life then I am with this one. Although my disappointment is with the Dover location, if that grumpy old lady drives for Great Bay Taxi then every location gets a 1 Star... I'm actually upset that I had to even give them 1 Star because they don't even deserve one. Who in their right mind would make a customer get out and walk in 20 degree weather, with 2 bundles that weighed 30 lbs each and ice on the ground? Hers the kicker, "Grumpy" (the old lady driver) never ONCE apologized to my wife, instead she kept insisting that my wife was the one who told her to go the wrong way.. News Flash "YOU'RE THE TAXI DRIVER", it's your job to know where to go. And to blame the customer because of your incompetency blows my mind.. My wife was willing to pay what she was quoted but to expect her to pay for your error, shows what type of taxi service you're running. Who in there right mind would try to kick someone out on a road with no sidewalks when she questions the price of the fair at that point? You would think that when someone says to go towards Hannafords on Grapevine Drive in Dover (a very popular place) you would start heading down 155, but NO you hope on the highway towards Somersworth/Rochester. The 6 mile trip ended up being nearly 18 miles and when my wife refused to GET OUT on rt 108, you (the old lady) decided to drop her off at the Circle K, a mile from her original destination. I'm trying to figure out, if you're that grumpy and don't know where you're suppose to be going on a fair why would you continue to drive a taxi? Maybe you should consider a different line of work outside of the customer service industry and most of all not driving a taxi. I'm originally from the Boston area so I've seen my fair share of grumpy old taxi drivers but this lady takes the cake. 1 thing I can guarantee is that you guys have definitely lost a customer with us and I'm going to make sure that all my friends, family and every single one of my customers and my wife's customers know not to EVER call this shame of a taxi service for a ride. great bay taxi picked me and my drunk friends in portsmouth, took us to a wedding in berwick and picked us up after. they were courteous and polite. they drove save. waited for us to wrangle a bunch of drunk wedding guests into their 12 passenger van, which was clean and fresh too. i had a great time and already booked them for another event with 12 people so we can use their awesome van. 100% use again. read more

I work in a medical setting so my ride is very important. I called to reserve my cab, told them to come a few minutes early just to be sure everything went smoothly, and was assured everything was in order. Not only did the cab NEVER show up, but on my third attempt to call to find out what was happening I was put straight through to voicemail and was ignored from that point out. Horrible. read more

I posted a review before, my taxi never picked me up. The owner made it right, gave me a free ride. Ok, that was great. The taxi was clean, the driver was professional, showed up promptly. No issues. I book a ride every Friday to go grocery shopping. I am a regular customer. Last week I made my reservation Thursday night for my Friday morning ride. The owner never told Dover about the reservation. He had no clue he had an 8am time call when I called to verify my ride. Thankfully he was not booked yet and was able to pick me up. Ok. Maybe the owner got busy and forgot. Last night I do my normal thing, booked a reservation online for today. It is now 5 minutes past the time I reserved. Im still home. Why? Well, I called the Dover driver and guess what happened again? The owner forgot to tell Dover about his time call this morning. The Dover driver was already out on a time call so is not able to pick me up at the moment. This is no fault of Dover or the driver for Dover. The driver for Dover was very apologetic. This all falls on the hands of John, the owner. He is failing to inform his Dover drivers of reservations. I am not happy at all right now. This is their 3rd strike with me. The owner also fails to confirm online reservations. After you fill out the form it says you will be contacted to confirm. He never does. The first time he failed to do that my taxi still showed up on time, thankfully, but the last 2 times my taxi just hasn't shown up at all. This is very unprofessional and could cost them many customers. read more

Your driver needs to learn how to use blinkers. I work at WDH he cut me off didn't use a blinker kept stopping while traffic was backing up behind him. Very poor driving n almost caused an accident. Totally unaware of drivers around him! read more
