I have used Taxis for many years; mainly through business but thought to share my recent experience. I recently had occasion to use ABC Countdown in Wolverhampton (http://www.abccountdown.co.uk/) as I was staying at the Mount Hotel. Upon arrival (which was prompt) I as greeted by the driver Richard (37) who was very polite, smartly dressed and spoke with such a warm and polite accent. The vehicle was surprisingly, clean, in good order and smelt very nice What struck me, which I have never experienced before, was that he greeted me by name and proceeded to explain the fare structure i.e. stops and waiting time and (this struck me as a visitor to the City) exactly how long it would take us to reach my destination! Never in all my travels ( and I travel around the world in business) have I ever had that level of service as most drivers assume passengers know where they're going. He delivered his service, both in his driving skills and verbal presentation, in a manner not to similar to a military precision or, as I later thought, like 'Johnny Cabs' in Total recall! He was simply excellent; I have to admit and with all due respect to Taxi Drivers, why on earth was he driving a taxi? Apparently, he recently lost his business thus decided to drive a Taxi rather than claim benefits which I thought was commendable. Very rare that you meet anyone with a 'moral compass' let alone a taxi driver! He is simply a lost gem and such a waste but what an asset to the Company he worked for! He should be doing something like either voice overs, marketing presentation or even on an Aeroplane as an Airline Steward! I previously used 01902717273 all the time they used to be reliable, fairly priced, and on-time. HOWEVER, recently they became more and more unrealiable, the driver's English got worse and worse, and they became more and more exspensive. On the most recent occasion (and final may i add) I rang the comopany at 3pm and booked a taxi for 4pm five mintues afteer 4pm i rang them to see where the taxi was as i had somewhere urgent to be he will be five minutes was the response i got five minute later still no taxi, rang them back he will be there in five mintues quarter past came the taxi was still not there. I rang them a final time where i told them if the taxi driver was to be just five more mintues it would be 4.20pm 20 minutes late!!! I asked them if they expected me to pay full price! They said yes and hurled a barrel of abuse at me through the phone then i asked to speak to the girl on the phone's manager to discuss how rude the girl on the phone had been, how unacceptable it is for a BOOKED taxi to turn up 20 minutes late, and how poor the customer service was not to offer a concession for making me late. I was banned from the company and they refused to take my complaints on board not amused! None of my friends or family now use this services and have switched to using 01902333333 when they say five minutes, they mean it, their drivers actually speak English and charge a reasonable price! I thought i would give ABC another try but i should have known better! I used their online pre-booking system the night before for the following afternoon. I called the following day around two hours before i needed it just to confirm it was coming. I was immediately told that the price the online system quoted me was wrong and that it wasnt going to take me for that price?! I wasnt going to get a phone call telling me this it was up to me to find out???? Appaling service YET AGAIN ABC. read more

The worst taxi company going ! The operators at the base are rude the taxis if you pre book never come on time.
