A couple of friends bought tickets for the special event, and off we went. It was a ladies' event, and as we walked into the speakeasy, I was really impressed with how they had set it up. If you're a whiskey person like us, you would have loved the bar with all the whiskies in the background. The decor and the vibe were great. Everyone was so nice, and they had our tasting setups ready for us. There were four glasses with the names of our whiskey samples and tastings set before us. I figured when we came. It would be like whiskeys, I didn't know or off brands, but these were not. These are some of my favorites. They served us water throughout the event and even had lots of really good food. This place was fun, the people were fun, and my friends are always fun. Can't wait to go back!

Easy to find- the corner of the shopping plaza & plenty of parking. The bar was filled with women! The line up was Buffalo Trace, Travellers, 1792 & Blantons and there was a spread of nibbles for us to enjoy. Very knowledgeable staff and I loved that some of the bartenders were on our side of the bar, tasting and learning more about bourbon. The beautiful bar is packed with plenty to sip- I indulged in a chocolate covered cherry old fashioned after the tasting! And convenient, the liquor store is right there! So much fun- I would definitely make the drive for another event! Debbie suggest sampling old fashioneds made with different bourbons.... hmmm, yum!

This is a small discount grocery store with most off-brand items. It's not generally very crowded,…read moreso it's easy to move around. It's clean and organized with friendly employees. Since it is small, you won't find all of your grocery items here... at least I surely can't find all of mine. I mostly use the Save-A-Lot stores to pick up canned food items because they tend to be cheaper than other grocery stores (even Walmart). It's also a convenient place to stop if I'm only needing staples like milk, eggs, and bread. I'm not really one to purchase off-brand items very often, so I don't really get anything else from here. No, I'm not snooty, I'm just use to buying certain brand items and I don't like change. It's my OCDness. :D Make sure to bring your own shopping bags because they don't furnish them for free here. Sometimes they will have some boxes at the front you can use, but often they are out of them. They do have bags, but they charge for them. I think the plastic bags are only like .03 cents each, but I keep reusable bags in my car anyway, so it's never an issue.

This was my first time ever attending an event here, or eating here, and I am so happy I was invited to tonight. Elijha, the kitchen manager and owner of Duval Local Harvest invited me out to get a first hand look into what he is trying to build within our local community and that is providing easy access to FRESH, LOCAL produce. Tonight's dinner was all prepared with local ingredients from Eartha's Farm and Market, Chandanko Farms, and Therapeutic Nursery and Gardenz right here in Jacksonville, FL. Some of this produce was picked this morning! My favorite offerings of the evening are kind of tied, but because I'm not a fan of seafood, the top dish for me was the Seminole Pumpkin Soup. Soft and creamy, I could really see myself enjoying a hearty helping of this on cooler days. The shrimp, while I don't enjoy seafood, I at very least wanted to try it. The flavor on it was outstanding and it would have probably been my favorite dish of the night, but for me, its a texture thing, and thats a me thing, but that flavor was on point. My 3rd (or second, however you look at it) favorite was the salad. The sweetness from the grapes and pears blended well with all of the other flavors that gave it a rich explosion of texture and flavor. My favorite drink of the night was the mai tai. Overall I had a very nice night out enjoying this event and learning more about some of the local farms around in the area. Duval Local Harvest is a program connecting local farmers with local businesses on a digital scale. They have a website up of the same name where farmers and restaurateurs can join the network and begin sourcing locally more regularly amd connecting what would normally become waste to local food pantries and organizations to feed our communities. Elijha also mentioned another upcoming event on November 17th similar to tonight's event, but with wine and cocktails and he is also looking to start a weekly "Tiki Tuesdays" theme in the coming weeks. I honestly was not aware that Riverside Liquors had a restaurant. I mean, I'm sure my husband has mentioned it a time or two to me as he has been up there for some whiskey events on occasion, but I would have never thought or imagined this was the level of food, quality, and service coming out of this store front. Compliments to Chef Chris for creating such tasty and wo derful dishes tonight and I look forward to trying so much more in the future.

We went on a Wednesday, where they offer a free corkage fee on any bottle of wine purchased in the store. Food wise, their menu leans towards tapas-style. They also have a few mains, which was a nice surprise as the last time I came in, they were exclusively tapas. The table ordered the deviled eggs, pretzel bread, lamb meatballs, sliders, shrimp quesadilla, and the French dip. All were solid picks - the call outs were the French dip and the lamb meatballs. Everyone also all enjoyed their wine or cocktails. Our only complaint was that they were out of 4 or 5 menu options, a couple of which we were originally interested in. Bernie hosts the tastings and is happy to share his extensive knowledge of the wines.
