He came today (despite very bad weather) to install them. We love our new shades. Everything was very professionally installed, and he removed all the packaging neatly. We highly recommend Paul Conti and ABC Shades and Blinds. Good value for the money. We have the right shades on a large sliding door, windows which needed privacy with top down /bottom up option, and light filtering. We started out thinking we wanted electric but as we reviewed our needs with Paul, ended up deciding against it. I decided that instead of looking at ugly, broken blinds I inherited with my condo, that I should invest in something I want to look at. I got a few quotes from vendors I had reached out to on Yelp (thank goodness for Yelp) after first trying a personal referral from a friend that went poorly. I had two vendors come over and I like the brand of product that Paul brought for cellular shades, Comfortex. They had all sorts of beautiful colors and textures for the fabric cellular shades I had, and it was hard to choose! Another vendor I had come to my house did not have this brand, but had a brand that did not offer a fabric black-out cellular shade. I am really glad I had ABC Shades come over first so that I could see what was out there first. The shades have been installed and they are beautiful. Everything from start to finish was smooth and everything about the process was seamless. Having these new shades have really perked up the appearance of the 3 rooms I had them installed in. I knew they were not going to be cheap, but the fact is that these are custom-built for my windows, and I was able to select a lovely fabric. I also selected a higher end fabric so that I could get exactly what I want because I actually keep my shades closed almost 100% of the time, so I want to make sure I like looking at them. I left a message after 7pm on the voicemail of ABC Shades and Blinds, without really knowing much about them; however I liked that it was a family owned business that has been around for many years. I received a call back from Paul Conti promptly the very next morning. I was somewhat difficult to reach, so he texted me which I appreciated, and we quickly set up an appointment for what either the next day or the following ( can't recall). He arrived with a huge number of samples- it was difficult to select just one, but I ordered a textured cellular fabric blind. I could see that Paul knows the business well and could answer all of my questions. I knew I could trust him to guide me through the vast selection and pick something that would work for the entire condo- we have 7 windows plus a very tall slider. The information and suggestions he offered proved to be quite helpful. He measured everything and once the fabric was selected, the wait was just two weeks. He installed them seamlessly, which was impressive because each window and wall in our condo walls and windows are just a tad off on one side, and is shorter or longer than the other. I also have a keen eye for details and can be quite fussy when it relates to interior or exterior design and decor. Somehow, he had tailored and installed them to fit just so...This was an especially important feat to pull off with the slider blinds, with deferring heights/ or widths, however he is a detail-oriented person thankfully with an excellent eye! He more than came through! I am thrilled with our new blinds, and have had no problems with anything since they were installed. It was a genuine pleasure working with him, he is also a friendly and caring person, and I was comfortable right off the bat with him. I highly recommend ABC Shades and Blinds and Paul Conti. The employees (all family members - this is a real family-owned business) were incredibly friendly and helpful. I live in Charlestown and used ABC in 2009 for some slider and large window vertical blinds, as well as a custom skylight cover. They came to the house for measuring and to show me samples, and of course for installation. They were extremely helpful and wonderful to work with all around. They are a family run business who have been around a long time - which I love supporting. I found the prices extremely reasonable, while not being "cheap". I had used a different operation to do blinds in a couple other rooms a year or two prior, and the prices were just outrageous compared. The ABC showroom is a bit dated, I will admit, but I would say don't let that deter you. Its also in a slightly sketchy area (though on a main street), but maybe that is why the prices are so much more reasonable than other places. I would whole heartedly recommend these guys. I'm about to call them to see if they can clean the blinds, which reminded me I should finally write this review! read more
