First time here and I'm disappointed that I haven't tried it until now! I ordered the steak street tacos and was blown away by the flavor. Loved every bite. And the staff was friendly and patient while I was making a decision about what to try during my first visit. When ordering the tacos in their 4- or 5-taco options, they don't allow mixing and matching which I do understand, but from the perspective of someone who doesn't want to spend a boatload of money but try a lot of things in one visit, it's limited. I'd recommend they offer a sample taco platter so that you can get 1 of each meat option. And still limits extreme customization of the orders. I'm upping my rating to a full five stars. We come here all the time on Taco Tuesdays. They are always hot, fresh and consistent. Anything with chicken is tasty. The chicken quesadilla is especially delicious. Their Birria Tacos are to die for!!! I love getting a big glass of horchata. My husband loves the steak ranchero burrito. Really anything you get is going to be wonderful. Oh and the tamales are huge and full of yummy meat--I love them! read more

I can't say enough about the food here. Simply amazing. And it's probably as close to authentic as you can get here in the center of the country. But everything is fresh, hot, and delicious. Service is so fast and friendly. Not much ambience as it's a take out/delivery only. But it's clean and smells just like you'd think a Mexican restaurant smells. Which is nothin g short of amazing! Do yourself a favor, get the steak nachos. You will NOT regret it. read more

Love stopping here for taco Tuesday! The deep fried tacos are great, as are the sauce offerings. Have yet to be disappointed with any food from here. Only reason not 5 stars is the prices. Regular pricing runs a little on the high side, but they do have good, and regular specials. read more

Great authentic Mexican food. Folks are very friendly and helpful. If you actually go inside instead of the drive through they are very happy to see a person and extremely helpful. We asked what they were going to eat that day and were treated to a sample of something not on the menu. Not fancy but all great food. It's not about the ambiance as there is no seating. Now bare in mind I am giving them four stars. My wife and I stopped by yesterday about 1:30 for lunch and the food we received was excellent! We received two ground beef tacos and two beef fajita tacos. They were GREAT. Unfortunately, we ordered two chicken tacos, one fish taco and jalapeño poppers appetizers. So nothing about our order was correct and they receipt showed the correct order. The food was good enough that we decided we weren't turning around to get the correct order! read more

Pretty good food but could really need more seasoning and spice. Portions are large but should be for the prices. I think all Mexican restaurants should give at least a small chips and salsa with to go/delivery meals though. This one does not. They did send the tiny containers of differ sauces to go on the meal itself. Decided to try this place as there is always a line in the drive thru. Honestly was disappointed. I have been searching for a place that serves rolled tacos (aka taquitos). They used unseasoned hamburger(?) for the smallest taquitos ever. The refried beans were bland, showing that a little salt could go a long way. We also had the Adoba chicken, which was seasoned very well. So maybe I'll try another dish some other time and make sure to ask for some salt for the beans. read more

I'm a simple man, never needed much in my life. That is until I found Abelardo's. Now I can say that I have a dependency on a drive through Mexican restaurant! Don't get it twisted for a second with the fact that it's a drive thru, Abelardo's is the greatest restaurant known to mankind. I go once a week and if I don't get the chance then I have raging headaches the whole following week. Abelardo's truly is the closest thing to a Michelin restaurant in saint Joseph. This place is legit. It's exactly like the Bertos chain of fast food restaurants in Arizona. And we love those. One burro is enough for 2 people. The hot salsa was muy picoso. Taco Tuesday special 5 tacos for $5. read more

Great new business in St. Joseph with fresh Mexican food. Be prepared for a wait though, because it appears only the drive thru is open and the line (at least today) winds around the building and out of the parking lot, and because the food is made fresh it doesn't move as fast as Burger King or McDonald's. This will probably change somewhat as the newness wears off and/or the inside becomes open for business. Had the enchilada/burrito combo. The chicken burrito was good with chunks of grilled chicken which gives the chicken a great char broiled flavor. It was dry though and could use more cheese, salsa or something inside to add a little moisture. I tried it with their guacamole sauce which is delicious. It is also large and generously stuffed with the chicken. The tortillas are homemade and are wonderful - if you've only eaten store bought tortillas, you are missing out. The cheese enchilada was also good but a little light on the cheese, the red sauce has very good flavor and I am not usually a fan of the red sauces. read more

In a word - bland. The taco meat is unseasoned on the fried beef tacos, there's no flavorful sauce in the cheese or beef enchiladas, the super nachos were pretty good but that was because of the guacamole and sour cream. I got a side of white cheese sauce and it has jalapenos in it and is at least medium hot. It was a real disappointment. We'd been looking forward to enjoying it for weeks. I am not going back for dinner but they have breakfast, which, I think I read, is served all day. They have quite a menu. Oh! I have to say both meats we tried ground beef and beef were exceptional in quality. Well done on that. read more

Great new place, but a long line due to the newness and more importantly that the food is awesome. We've been there three times and have tried enchiladas, fried tacos, street tacos, and chili rellenos. Even with them being slammed everything was wonderful and the orders have always been correct. Very friendly service considering they are probably wore out from not stop line from 6am to 3am. The costs are similar to a sit down Mexican Restaurant, but the food is much better than about anything local. Best Mexican in St. joseph, especially since Sotellos has lost a step since they moved from their 22nd street location and changed their menu. Worth the wait. read more
