They don't have pupusas anymore but they have empanadas. You have a choice of filling between chicken, cheese, or beef. I chose to get 2 chicken and 1 cheese on my empanada plate, and that ended up being the perfect choice. They were fried fresh and served hot. The dough was crisp and tasty. The chicken has a red sauce and it's so yummy. I ate a tiny bite of the cheese empanada with a good sized bite of the chicken empanada. It was fabulous! Papusas were good. Chips were a bit stale. The picante sauce to dip them in was bland. They either don't have air conditioning, or don't want to use it, but it was horribly uncomfortable in there! After almost 30 years of living away, due to the Army, we moved back to my hometown just recently. We most recently lived in El Paso, TX which is directly adjacent to the border of Juarez, Mexico. It was literally 5 mins to Mexico, and with El Paso having a population of over a million people there, they had tons of authentic Mexican restaurants to enjoy. We loved living there because of the food LOL. Tonight we decided to try Sotelo. We had it delivered via Door Dash, and let me tell you how happy we are. We finally found Mexican food that is very similar to what was in El Paso, and all across Mexico for that matter. (We've been to Mexico quite a few times!) Our food was not only very fresh-tasting and delicious, but the presentation was awesome too. That is sometimes hard to find when you get carry-out or delivery. I ordered the Trio Chimi, and my husband and son ordered the Burrito Macho. All had proteins tres in it. Large Shrimp, tender and flavorful steak, and moist delicious chicken. Mine came with rice and beans and the guys got some rice and beans to share. Everything was just outstanding!! We can't say enough about your food. I only wish we would tried you before now!! I had no idea this location was still open, after seeing the sign near the S. Belt KFC, but what a pleasant surprise! Customers are socially distanced out, and we were able to have a wonderful meal out on the side-deck as the sun was setting over tge Kmart parking lot. I'm told the carnitas are quality, but a server suggested their burritos. The Fajita-Mix Burrito was deliciously savory, I asked for extra jalapeño. The tortilla is the perfect thickness to be a mere vessel for the the blend of meats and peppers within, doused in just the right amount of drizzled cheese to coat with no extra mess. I love this place, but when we visited yesterday I ordered my all time favorite shrimp fajitas that I ordered every time I visited (which is alot). They used to serve them sizzling on a cast iron griddle which was awesome!!!, nope, not anymore. The veggies used to be charred and great flavor, nope, not anymore. There were only five shrimp, used to be 6-8. The salsa varies from visit to visit, usually the "regular" is too mild, this time it was pretty good, had a little bit of kick to it. The hot salsa tasted very chipotle flavor which it never did before, I am not a fan of chipotle. The service was pretty good, they first brought me chicken but corrected it. They were attentive. I love these guys but feel like I can't order the fajitas anymore. There is new competition with Abelardo's and if you want people to pay for sit down, dine in service its gotta be worth it. I would give less stars but I have faith in these guys, the owner seems like a great person and I don't want them to go away, just want to let them know what keeps bringing us back. read more

We've been to this location at least a dozen times and as of lately, it seems the good service we experienced in the beginning is declining. A lot of it is a problem with communication and employee issues. Today I asked for extra toppings on my beef & bean nachos, which I've done before as one time there was hardly any and a ton of chips. They brought the extra beef and beans in bowls on the side. Odd. We had to ask a second time for our cheese dip. (Last week I had to ask someone else again for our drinks.) My bf asked for sour cream and they came back to say their truck had an accident. Well, you go down to the HyVee and buy some. A Mexican restaurant with no sour cream? It's been a while since I've had authentic Mexican food this good. The salsas are a well balanced sweet and spicy. The masa for the popusas that I ordered was cooked perfectly for a crisp exterior and a reasonably chewy anterior. The meat is cooked to order and tastes as fresh as possible. The veggies were all fresh and the avocado kept a creamy balance throughout the dish. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. read more
