I told this mediator that if Armour would just reply to my unanswered email about missed appointments with an explanation or apology, I'd edit my review to reflect that they did me that courtesy. The mediator told me they wouldn't do it and literally said "I feel really bad for you" ... I would never drag a small business online for making some mistakes, they were cheaper than most services and when we hired them we figured we'd be ok with the no-frills attitude that sometimes come with that. But refusing accountability for these mistakes, and then this new bizarreness with hiring a 3rd party to remove my review... I think it's important this unprofessional conduct is noted.

I was given a phone quote of $295 + tax + costs for any extra materials such as bird proofing to guard against future nests. By the time AAAGates said they could come to the property, 2 1/2 weeks later, the nest was built. This meant the birds and eggs had to be undisturbed until they hatched and left the nest. [Robins are a protected migrating species. Do Not Disturb!] Fast forward to now, late August, and I phoned to have them remove the empty nest and any debris left behind. Well, now the phone quote was a minimum of $395 + tax! That's a 33% increase in 3 months just to remove an empty nest! No thank you!

After walking around the house to observe for obvious signs of entry, Peter's conclusion was that mice were in the attic. He provided me with options for humanely removing the critters, as well as preventative measures to help prevent their entry in future. Peter inspired my confidence. In the end, I decided to go with live traps. In other words, at this point, I'm not retaining Gates to perform work at my house. Even so, the consultation including advice was for no charge. I offered to pay for the consultation since it was so helpful, but payment was declined! They used whatever i had lying around to shove in through the deck, used a drill, and jumped up and down to try to scare a raccoon out. This didnt seem planned or methodical and not how i would have attempted removing an animal - an animal protecting her babies - and this definitely was not the kind of service i thought i was paying for. Ridiculous. The whole experience was absolutely something i hope to never have to go through again, because dealing with the raccoons was much easier than these clowns.

So far, we've been bed-bug free since the initial heat treatment! Our experience with Bed Bugs & Beyond was great. The owner, Cary, came and did a free inspection on the same day we contacted him even though he had another job in progress elsewhere. The crew who did the treatment was just as compassionate as Cary. They patiently explained the process and helped us and our two cats get out the door bed-bug free so we wouldn't bring them back with us. This involved blowing hot air on us, our bags, and cat carriers as well as inside my car. Cary did warn us during the inspection that our Ikea furniture would sustain some damage. Indeed, the cheap melamine finishes separated from our dressers. We have been able to super-glue them back down. Our large and expensive Pax wardrobe came through it just fine, though! The only damage to our electronics was to our laser printer, which we've replaced -- a cost well worth the experience of a good night's sleep :) If you've got bed bugs, don't waste your money on steam and vacuum treatments (these things you can do yourself!) and be aware of the fact that chemical fumigation cannot penetrate the nooks and crannies in your walls where these sneaky bugs hang out. Heat is the best way. I do recommend cleaning up any of the Diatomaceous Earth powder before heat treatment if you've spread it around. The heat fans will blow it around everywhere. Weeks later and I'm still cleaning it up! I also recommend boarding your pets somewhere overnight. Our indoor cats really suffered in the hot house even hours after the treatment. Your house will take 5+ hours to cool off because the walls and floors retain so much heat. A big thanks to Cary and the Bed Bugs and Beyond crew! Please be cautious before hiring BBB to take care of your bed bug problem…read more Armand who owns and operates this company likes to use the word "impossible", whenever you tell him that the bed bugs were not exterminated after his treatment, but the bottom line is, that after two treatments and many unanswered phone calls and txt messages, I have had to hire Mohamed at "Pest Solution Services", after Armand refused to honour his work. When I asked Armand about his "90 day 100% CUSTOMER SATISFACTION GUARANTEE" he replied "take me to court If you want satisfaction". I have waited the full length of BBB's warraty before posting this review in the hopes that they would honour their word. Sadly all correspondence now falls on deaf ears. If you call or txt BBB for the first time, they will get back to you very quickly. Under 30 min. If BBB's service does not work and your asking them to honour their warranty, don't expect a reply anytime soon or ever really. I guess the next step is to take the only good advice Armand gave me, which was sadly to take BBB to court. Unfortunate.

So if $1200 plus is the going cost for 2 squirrel one-way doors...then I guess they are "affordable" as suggested on their website. I was told on the phone one door would be $450 (but no mention of ladder charge) but subsequent holes and doors would be half that. I guess if they don't find them on the first day you are back to full price... They also suggest a 10% discount for first time customers and 100% satisfaction guarentee....I did not get a discount and I feel like the price was way too high. So...buyer beware - the free inspection turns into a hefty price tag pretty quickly.
