I had a terrible experience with Ashley Furniture Outlet. I purchased a sofa from them and paid…read more$180 for delivery. They gave me a date and time for delivery and my adult son was home all afternoon on the delivery day and we have 2 dogs that go absolutely crazy with barking when anyone even walks up the sidewalk to our house and no one came. They said they were there but they did not leave a notice on our door which the head Ashley office said they would have done if they had been there. I called the manager for the store, I believe Damian was his name, and he was the rudest most obnoxious, unprofessional person I have ever experienced in my 72 yrs. He even hung up on my son. He would not even listen to me or let me explain my side but kept running his mouth saying we were lying and wouldn't even let me speak. I can definitely see why they are going out of business. There was no way they would even work with me to compromise but insisted that to get the sofa which i had already paid for I would have to pay another $180 to get it delivered so that would have been $360 for delivery that I had already paid for.

The painting and re-purposing work is sloppy and they don't spend much time or energy on the finishing. (Anybody can chalk paint. The art is in the finishes, waxes, etc.). And the ideas weren't all that unique. To top it off, the prices are ridiculously high. The pieces they have are those that sell at auctions for almost nothing, and they'll slap a $395 price tag in it. There are better re-purposing stores. I'd recommend finding one of them. Won't be back here.

Very deceptive sales practices. We purchased a large…read moreleather couch with electric operated recliners on each end. The furniture came with no paperwork from the manufacturer, so we went back to the store to get it along with a few questions. Long story short we found out the furniture came with no warranty on the leather and more importantly the electric and mechanical hardware in the recliners. At no time during the sale or nowhere on the contract was any mention made of a "Non Warranty" sale. When spending well over $3000 Dollars on a new piece of furniture most buyers have expectations that if something goes wrong, your furniture will be covered. Had this "Non-Warranty" been explained to us we would not have purchased the couch. We will be pursuing this matter further, as we feel they (Furniture Row) were very deceptive and possibly infringed on some legalities for consumer protection.

Furniture is not their main focus & is used to display clothes & knick knacks, to the point of not being able to see their furniture very well. Unfortunately, what they have is not much & possibly won't even sell.

We wanted one with a "living edge" This week we requested the mantle be delivered to our job site. But we were told they couldn't find the mantle but that they would deliver an equivilant. The one they delieved appeared to be one made of pine. Upon seeing it, both my wife and I said it was unacceptable and not remotely what we ordered. I returned the mantle to Springfield Reclaimed. The owner insisted that is what we ordered. (Sorry, but we KNOW what we ordered.) He agreed to custom make an oak piece and deliver it by Friday morning. Our contractor was waiting for it Friday morning but it was never delivered. Repeated phone calls to the business were not returned. Finally, that afternoon, someone was sent to the store to pick up what they had promised to deliver. We are pleased with the workmanship of the mantle. But Springfield Reclaimed needs to work on: communication, inventory management and delivery.

Apple Barn

A diamond in the rough and a great place for delicious treats…read more We were visiting Lincoln's hometown of Springfield, Ill and wanted to get a snack. We found this place online. It is a little south of the city and west of the interstate but it is absolutely worth the detour. It is a rustic place called the Apple barn and parking is right in front. Their website gives a lot more information about it being more than just the main shop that is in the barn. They began as a family apple orchard and expanded over the years into a collection of attractions including two restaurants, a general store, a creamery, a winery, a candy factory, and a Christmas shop, all centered around the original barn built in 1910. We only visited the barn with the bakery goodies and the very friendly staff who helped us get some delicious snacks for the trip back to the hotel. It was great! Even if you don't plan to buy anything, it's worth taking some time to visit to get a snack for your trip or, if you are going to walk around the site, for the extra visit. We found it to be one of the more enjoyable stops to the area capping off a great visit to the Springfield, Ill area.

Please don't get me wrong. This is a failing mall. It is nothing like the mall I remember from my…read morechildhood. But, the stores that are left, and the food spots that are left are doing their best. The workers at all of them were helpful and polite. We found some decent sales and the food was affordable. But, there's not much selection for restaurants. And there's plenty of missing amenities. Basically it's dying like every other mall in America.

Years ago, they had first responders and police departments displaying vehicles and doing fingerprinting for children. A Costco would be nice or a furniture store. Update. Went to the mall today and saw the Christmas trees. It was very well done, I hope for more people to participate next year!! Maybe they could contact a train group and have them set up a christmas train. Or the mall could utilize the empty store fronts and put in some decorations in the windows. Some additional photo opportunities would also be nice. Gingerbread cookies would be a hit as would live christmas music or swing choirs. Contact schools and churches.
