I had no idea that our "smooth stucco" finish would present repair challenges that would scare some painting contractors off. This was made abundantly clear when we received our first free estimate for painting our home's exterior. That feedback put us on a path of eventually collecting 8 estimates, with one contractor electing not to quote and until speaking with Abeyta Painting, none giving us the comfort factor that we'd be happy with the final result. All of that changed when the owner of Abeyta Painting, Garret, visited to explain how he would not only be able to hide and guarantee the quality of the stucco repairs but that he was able to provide us with references of similar contracts where we could actually see the finished product. Abeyta Painting closely examined our property and also pointed out that what we thought were stained wood surfaces were actually painted and would be included in his proposal. None of the other estimates made a note of this and would have left those surfaces unpainted and in most cases at a higher estimated cost. Lastly, when I mentioned that we were interested in changing the exterior color to match a similar home in our development, Abeyta Painting took the time to determine what the actual paint formula was from that home, which paved the way for the color change approval from our architectural board. Have you ever had somebody come to your home for an estimate and knew immediately that they were the right people for the job? It's becoming more and more of a rare occurrence these days, but Abeyta are those people. How about handing off a job you're nervous about and then realizing they're going to do everything exactly how you'd want from start to end? Well, Abeyta are those people. After a few years of planning on painting my historic home, I had an exact color and paint supplier decided on and just needed somebody to spray it. After getting a few estimates from other painters, Garrett from Abeyta came over and could have easily done the usual walkaround and spit out a number to spray. But instead, he spent almost an hour going over various color ideas; color ideas that would be much more work for him and his team, yet not charge me a cent more than my original idea. He has an impeccable eye for design and his ideas were a series of "Why didn't I think of that!?" Regardless of the cost, it was clear after this meeting that Abeyta were the right people. After picking out a date and getting started, I was ready for weeks of stress about corrections, fixing things broken by painters and the usual pitfalls that come with painting an older home. But Garrett and his supervisor PJ took the place of a concerned homeowner and made sure everything was exactly the way it should be. There was never a "no" uttered or a moment of hesitance; everything was always addressed promptly no matter what it was I asked. We want to thank Garret and his team for doing a great job on the exterior of our house. By way of background, it's a big, old house which is larger than many of local commercial buildings. We did a competitive bid. Some of the painters said "sure, we can paint this for $x, no problem". But that wasn't what we were looking for. We love our home and wanted a quality job to preserve the Sonoran beauty . A few of the painters said "this is a very complicated job, there is work to do before the painting starts". Those are the painters we invited back for a second round. Garret Abeyta inspected the house carefully before making a bid. There were several different surfaces to be considered: Steel-trowel stucco walls, wood beams, chimney crowns, casement windows, a masonry wall, a border fence. Each of these had at least a few areas that needed special attention. Abeyta had a solution for each surface, knew what materials to use, and had folks on the team with the skills to do proper repairs prior to laying down the right paint for each surface. In summary, for a competitive price, the required repairs were finished, then a proper primer coat plus two full coats of the proper paint for each surface were applied and now the house looks great, rather than just painted-over. The Abeyta team was professional, courteous and hard-working. Garret stopped by frequently to check on progress and quality. Abeyta also helped with the color choice (we didn't like the old colors, but picking out new ones was more complex than we thought!). The Abeyta Company painted the exterior of our house about six years ago. We were extrremely pleased with the care and workmanship we received. This year our roof was found to be in very bad shape with many cracks and other defects. Because of our great experience with Abeyta when they painted our house exterior they were the first ones we contacted. We did receive other bids, but theirs was the lowest by more than $1000. Abeyta painted our house and privacy wall - it was a substantial project. They were not the lowest cost alternative, but we have some friends who had Abeyta paint their house and they recommended them highly. I was really impressed with the thoroughness of their work. They spent the majority of the time on stucco repair, crack patching, caulking and sealing the horizontal surfaces. They did a great job of rebuilding the top of our fireplace flue which was really starting to crumble. The painting itself went very quickly once all the prep work was completed. I did not give them 5 stars for two reasons. (1) They took a very long time to complete the project. We were not in a big hurry, and we were gone a lot of the time while the project was going on, but I sometimes felt they worked on our house when all the other priorities didn't take precedence. The longer project time didn't impact us in any way, it simply took a bit longer than they estimated. (2) We also had an incident with some of the workers getting into a disagreement - we were not home at the time, but our neighbors noticed it. Abeyta handled the incident very professionally, but it was a factor in downgrading my review. Overall I am extremely pleased with the result. Our house looks brand-new, and 6 months later there isn't a sign of a crack or flaw anywhere. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who wants high-quality work done on their home. read more
