If you want horrible service and rude poeple come here!! I've been coming to this outdoor range for about 9 months and have visited around 12 times, paying the $25 daily fee each visit because I wanted to support a small business instead of buying a membership. Unfortunately, today was the final straw because of how the range master treated us. From the moment my friend and I arrived, the attitude was rude and aggressive. While we were still paying and adding targets, we were told to "hurry up and pay." Then we were rushed to put targets up because supposedly everyone was waiting on us, even though other shooters were still downrange changing their own targets. After that, I was told to put away my AR-style 9mm pistol because it "wasn't allowed in the pistol lane," even though it is chambered in 9mm like other pistols. Later, while safely shooting a suppressed pistol, I fired an 8-round magazine at a reasonable pace and was approached again, told to leave, and accused of acting like a fool. At that point, I decided to leave and not spend my money there anymore. Even other customers told me the employee was known for having a bad attitude. He apologized afterward, but by then the experience was already ruined. I respect range safety and rules, but customers should also be treated with professionalism and respect. This range is fine. I feel like fine is the best way I could describe it. Targets are ok. Rifle range is decent. I have been an RSO for previous ranges and there is a way to keep ranges safe, but.... If you automatically assume everyone coming to your range is going to kill someone, regardless of their experience, you're not practicing safe practices, you are pushing away a customer base. The closest outdoor range that allow "quick draws" and "rapid fire" (literally shooting two rounds within 1 sec of each other as I was corrected by an RSO for doing) is hours away. I recommend they TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS!!! The people of Abilene want an outdoor pistol range for USPSA and other competitions. Please expand your pistol range and lean into this. Bring competitive shooting to this area and you will reap the rewards. I want this range to be good. But everyone I talk to says "oh that's the Fud range, I don't go there". Fantastic shooting range. $20 for non members let's you shoot all day so no need to feel rushed like the per hour places. For rifles they have 25, 50, 100, 200, 300, and 400 yard. You have to qualify to shoot on the long distance range. Small area for handguns, I think 6 total targets. I believe they are set up at 7 yards and 10 yards. The range officer is knowledgeable, helpful, and makes sure everyone stays safe. Me and 2 of my buddies spent 3 hours here sighting in our rifles and shooting our handguns. The only thing I wish they had was some metal plink targets to shoot at. read more

The range is nothing more than property to shoot guns. The targets are old and not well kept, but my biggest complaint is the range master. I've been going here for about a year and have had decent experience other than the range master not being friendly what so ever. read more

It was really weird to go to a range that didn't educate or get the customers information. I've been to plenty of ranges so it wasn't and issue. I walked up the guy said " $20 cash, sign in there, and read this board." He never got a copy of my ID, never had me sign a release form, and didn't check whether I knew the rules. Very informal gun range experience. The rifle range was decent and the pistol range was awful. The rifle range had a nice set up for your rifle and provided sand bags and other shooting rests if needed. The pistol range was covered by an aluminum carport that had the worst echo. The rules were to shot behind a little bench they made. Was really weird to shoot like that rather than a traditional bar like a lot of outdoor gun ranges. My biggest complaint was the range master was a major jerk. I was just asking the guy questions and he started getting angry with me. The most important thing at a gun range is safety, and they did that relatively well. He called cease fire when needed, but other than that went inside and wasn't actually out there watching. With that being said I have been to plenty of ranges where the range master wasn't watching or there wasn't a range master period. I would go back again just out of necessity, but I did not enjoy myself. read more

Nice well regulated range. Nice variety of distances to shoot. Only this that could be improved is the pistol back boards, maybe make them clip hang up type vs staple to a back board. read more
