If you want horrible service and rude poeple come here!!…read more I've been coming to this outdoor range for about 9 months and have visited around 12 times, paying the $25 daily fee each visit because I wanted to support a small business instead of buying a membership. Unfortunately, today was the final straw because of how the range master treated us. From the moment my friend and I arrived, the attitude was rude and aggressive. While we were still paying and adding targets, we were told to "hurry up and pay." Then we were rushed to put targets up because supposedly everyone was waiting on us, even though other shooters were still downrange changing their own targets. After that, I was told to put away my AR-style 9mm pistol because it "wasn't allowed in the pistol lane," even though it is chambered in 9mm like other pistols. Later, while safely shooting a suppressed pistol, I fired an 8-round magazine at a reasonable pace and was approached again, told to leave, and accused of acting like a fool. At that point, I decided to leave and not spend my money there anymore. Even other customers told me the employee was known for having a bad attitude. He apologized afterward, but by then the experience was already ruined. I respect range safety and rules, but customers should also be treated with professionalism and respect. Sadly, I won't be returning after I recommend this range to many people that are working in town

I have been an RSO for previous ranges and there is a way to keep ranges safe, but.... If you automatically assume everyone coming to your range is going to kill someone, regardless of their experience, you're not practicing safe practices, you are pushing away a customer base. The closest outdoor range that allow "quick draws" and "rapid fire" (literally shooting two rounds within 1 sec of each other as I was corrected by an RSO for doing) is hours away. I recommend they TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS!!! The people of Abilene want an outdoor pistol range for USPSA and other competitions. Please expand your pistol range and lean into this. Bring competitive shooting to this area and you will reap the rewards. I want this range to be good. But everyone I talk to says "oh that's the Fud range, I don't go there". They would rather drive hours away than come to your range. Hope that changes. Good luck y'all!

He was able to accommodate four students on rather short notice. He answered our call quickly and was very helpful before the class even started. His class was held at The Holiday Inn Express in Georgetown which offered a nice comfortable seating area for all of the students. Lance was very well versed in the law and gun safety as a whole. His class was not only educational but engaging as well. The qualification was held on a private outdoor range. The thing that I really liked about that was it wasn't crowded and offered us the ability to really concentrate on qualifying. Lance was well prepared. His educational aids (PowerPoint, posters, books, handouts, etc) were well done. He also supplied the class with coffee, soft drinks, and water throughout the morning which was definitely not a requirement but was much appreciated. If you are looking to get your CHL, or maybe just take a training class, you should consider Lone Star Gun Training. You'll be pleased with all that Lance has to offer.

This time however, I checked their rules on their website and made the trip. Nothing too major, I couldn't shoot the gun I needed to sight in because it was too large a caliber. nothing indicated as much online, but that was fine, I had other guns I needed to shoot, and I could take that one elsewhere. With the place almost entirely to myself, I head down to their 100yd range and get a couple practice shots in to get comfortable. Happy I decide to practice some at range quick firing. Nothing crazy, just trying to shoot accurately from range while being a tad fast. I shot off at most 10 rounds in 15-20 seconds, before I had one of the staff shouting at me to, stop being stupid, go into the shop, get my money and leave." confused, I asked for some minor clarification, as I hadn't broken any rules to my knowledge and there wasn't anyone else there for me to bother. He responded by telling me, "You know what you are doing," before hopping in his mule and driving away. the staff in the office weren't any better. telling me that I was "Mag dumping". which I could almost see, as I was firing a tad fast, and that was against their rules. however they couldn't give me a clear answer how what I was doing constituted a rule break and just kept giving me arbitrary lengths of time to trigger pulls while pointing to their tome of rules while trying to throw me out. All in all, there staff are obsessed with "Da Rulez" and refuse to even work with people to help have a good range environment. For example, if the staffer had just told me I was shooting a tad fast for what they normally allow and to tone it down a little.Instead, they decided to be hardheaded and treat me as less than human, now losing future income.

I had set up reminders to let me know if I had plans. OH NO. I did have plans. And 15 minutes to get there. (Can get anywhere in Abilene in 15) The home builders were having a skeet shoot and I was working a booth. I mounted my black steal horse and made it there on time the dirt and gravel posed a little challenge. Had a fun time let people see me and raised several funds for Habitat for Humanity. Anyone with even basic turkey hunting experience could immediately tell there are no birds on this property. The huntable area was only about 150 acres, which is laughably small for a turkey hunt. On top of that, the feeders were broken and clearly not being maintained, which says a lot about how this place is run. To make it worse, the guide flat out lied and claimed he had been seeing and hearing turkeys. That was obviously not true. We never heard a single gobble, never saw a bird, and never saw any fresh sign. It felt like we were being told whatever sounded good to justify taking our money. This was not a hunt. It was a cash grab. Charging premium prices for an empty property and then lying about turkey activity is unacceptable. Save your money, save your time, and avoid this place at all costs.

I was told it would be $120 in labor. I called TJB Outdoors in Sweetwater and was quoted $40-60.
