I never…read moreliked how quick the cleanings and exams took, feel like they could spend more than 15 minutes or less on this given how important it is, but it's hard to find a good pediatric dentist. So about a year ago I notice that my son's adult incisors were bulging through the top of his gums above his baby incisors, took him for his regular cleaning not long after noticing and the dentist said the baby incisors needed to come out so the adult ones would recede and come in properly. The appointment was scheduled 2 months out, given the urgency the dentist expressed you would think it would have been sooner but I did manage to get on the cancellation list and get it done within a 3 weeks. Fast forward to now, my son is starting orthodontic treatment and due to severe crowding he needs 5 more baby teeth pulled but treatment at the dentist can't be scheduled until the end of April even though the orthodontist sent a referral describing how severe the issue is and that it needs to be addressed. Seriously? That's not acceptable. If they didn't cram patients in like a pack of sardines maybe they could take care of urgent needs before they become worse. Needless to say I've had enough and requested my son's records be sent elsewhere and his treatment is scheduled for the end of January.

Worked up a whole treatment plan of $5,000+. Found a new pediatric dentist and turns out only 2 of the 7 things they said needed to be done were accurate.

They said I needed to pay in full, I said I cant pay in full, paid what I could wish was like 200. They started to send me text to pay which worked out fine but then their system changed - then I had to call - sometimes got a reminder letter - i paid when I could. So Jan 17, 2026 I received a letter which by the way was date DEC 18, 2025 ( it doesnt take a month to get a letter that came from kingsport to church hill - also the envelope was post dated JAN 14. SO this letter stated my remaining balance would be sent to collection, and if I needed emergent care in the next 30 days I could but after that we could not go back. Remember the letter came a month after they dated it VERY CONVENIENT!! I called to pay in full they said i would need to either pay collections or with them if I did to them theres a process fee. SO I paid my dues and asked about the letter and if my child could still come they said NO!! NEVER not in a year or whatever NEVER! WHAT KIND OF BULLSH*T IS THAT!! SO they got my money, send a letter late for 30 days care and still I get nothing. I asked for them to send me my daughter records - which they did. Save your money, Save your stress so to another dentist!!

The people at Southern Dental Associates are so kind and caring. My son is a patient on the…read morepediatric side and has been for about 6 years now. He is autistic but verbal. They explain everything to him in such detail before they start and then again during the process that it makes him more comfortable. He is sensitive to lights and sounds and they make sure that he has his glasses (sunglasses) on before they start. They let him touch and feel each instrument before even trying to place it near his mouth. I am so thankful for the amazing staff!!

I have been going to Lawson Family Dentistry since I was a kid and have been taking my son there…read moresince he was old enough, but that ends as of today. I have never dealt with such unprofessional, snarky and honestly just plain rude (putting it nicely) staff. The dental hygienists and Dr. Chad are always very professional, kind and helpful but the front desk staff is completely opposite. I will say there is always one nice receptionist that has been with that office for several years and I truly wish I knew her name to recognize her. I also wish I could say that for the rest of the front staff, especially Ashleah, but they are horrible. I truly hope Dr. Chad Lawson does well in the area and wish him all the best. But good luck keeping patients with people like that handling most of your patient care.
